The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 247: Secure Meeting
Rory took in a deep breath standing in front of the big metallic door in front of her. Beyond this door, she will be alone, with Lennon.
She took in a deep breath rubbing her hands together. She has researched enough. She’s learned about psychopaths a lot and the reports from the doctors who have talked to Lennon. Although she thought that she prepared well, she knew there is a possibility that everything goes wrong.
It’s not some scripted interview and she’s not meeting an enemy she had a fallout with. She’s meeting a notorious psychopathic killer who was planning on killing her and almost ruined her.
Not to mention, if she says something wrong during this meeting, Lennon’s defense will use that to save him. The entire conversation will be recorded. That’s the condition both the defense and prosecution had agreed upon to make this meeting happen.
She needs to be careful.
"I’ll be right outside listening to you. If you don’t want to continue at any point, just say the safe word. Remember, you’re not alone," Liam rubbed Rory’s back.
Yeah, she won’t be alone!
Rory leaned on his shoulder. "Safe word?" she raised her brows. "What’s the safe word?"
"Oh!" Liam looked at her with his eyes and mouth wide open. "Did you forget already? That night I~ Ah!"
Rory pinched his waist as hard as she could. This guy! Was he serious when he wanted those stupid phrases to be the safe word?
Liam pulled her into a hug and kissed her cheek. " I know you can handle this. But walk out the moment you feel like you can’t handle it. Either way, know that I love you the most."
Rory nodded. "He’ll bring up your mother’s death. He knows we are trying to hide it from dad," she whispered. Lennon’s full objective now is to hurt the Roberts family. He will do everything possible, to the extent of admitting to killing Liam’s mother.
Liam looked at her gently rubbing her back. "If he wants it out, it is out," he said much to the shock of Rory.
He had time to think about it. He knows the truth will hurt Frank, but he’s at the stage where he thinks that Lennon should get that extra death sentence for killing his mother.
Frank should be able to accept it. Honestly, a smart man like Frank would actually be doubting her death by now. Maybe he doesn’t talk about it.
Rory was shocked by Liam’s words, but she could see that Liam has a plan. Maybe if it went that way, he would deal with it. That gave her relief. She trusted Liam would make the right decision if he had thought about it.
The prosecutors came to her and gave her some pointers. The jailor also explained the rules. They said there would be a plexiglass partition between him and her and he will be in chains limiting his movements. She won’t be wired, but the room has cameras and listening devices.
Rory did feel like a wrestler being prepared before entering the ring. But the matter at hand is that serious.
She let out a deep breath. Liam’s fingers interlocked with hers as he held her hand. Her pounding heart slowed down to normal within a few seconds. He has that effect on her.
"How do I look?" she turned and asked Liam.
"Like an angel," he said with a hearty smile that jumped to her face too.
"I’m ready," she said to the guard and the big steel door in front of her opened.
She kissed Liam’s cheek before stepping in. It was not the usual visiting room for inmates. It was different. The entire room was lit like a football stadium and the steel chairs were fixed to the ground.
She could spot two cameras the moment she entered the room. but she figured that there would be more. There was a large plexiglass partition as they mentioned. A chair was bolted to the floor five feet away from the partition. There were some holes in the glass to let his voice reach her.
She heard the clinks of chains and looked at the door opening from the other side of the plexiglass partition. Closing her eyes, she took in a deep breath before laying her eyes on Lennon.
Lennon was chained tightly, and he could only move an inch at a time. He didn’t have his mouthguard as he had it when he was brought to court.
The moment his eyes landed on Rory; Lennon started to laugh. Just a full-blown chortle and nothing else. Rory couldn’t figure out why. Boasting, probably?
He did get her to meet him.
Or maybe he is laughing at her appearance?
Her eyes used to have the perfect wings were a mess, her mascara was smudged around her eyes and pronounced eyebags, and her hair looked messy as if she came straight from the bed. She was wearing a baggy and plain t-shirt dress that looked washed-out.
She did all that on purpose. She had a hard time lining her eyes messily. Of all days, she had perfect lines today. Maybe she should line her eyes thinking of doing it imperfectly to end up with perfect lines.
She has a feeling that this messy look will remind him of his drug-addict mother.
Still laughing, Lennon crept his way to his chair. His chains were locked to the floor. He tried to get close to the glass, but he was pulled to the seat.
"Loved the flowers, dad," she said loudly in a plain voice with a smile.
She was not nervous. Everyone here will protect her with their everything. More than anything, she has her husband with her.
Lennon didn’t laugh anymore.
"Were those from the same garden you had in your mansion? No, right? I thought they looked very well-nourished... You know..." she winked.
They did think that there might be bodies buried underneath the roses, but they couldn’t find anything. But they did find what could be considered human remains. Minced, perhaps?
Lennon stared at her without saying anything. "You don’t look fine. Where’s your husband?" he asked.
Rory pressed her lips. She needs to pull this thing off perfectly. "Let’s talk about you, dad. Still feeling suicidal?" she raised her brows.
She saw him cringing each time she called him ’dad’. She wanted to cringe too but seeing his reaction she was relieved.
"Now that you’ve met me, dad, how about dying for real?" she asked.
Lennon stared at her. She tried to stare back but she couldn’t match the stare of a psychopath.
"Where is your husband?" he asked, no, he demanded.
"You mean your son?" Rory scoffed. "You’re not allowed newspapers these days?"
Lennon clenched his jaws.
"He left me because Ellie is yours," she said.
"Arhhh!" Lennon screamed angrily.
"Oh, so you knew she was not yours?" Rory scoffed. "And yet you..."
She bowed down and played with her fingers. She sniffed and wiped the corners of her eyes even though she had no tears. She wanted to see if Lennon falls for her pitiful look again.
