Rory thought about Liam’s suggestion for a while. He didn’t talk to her about it after that night. She appreciated him for that. Her husband does the most unexpected things at times that make her heart skip a beat when she thinks about it.

But she started to see stories in the tabloids about the possible separation between her and Liam. She ignored those foul accusations that were from "anonymous sources" close to both parties for some time, but when a reputable newspaper published an opinion piece on the possible rift between the Roberts while the Lennon Roberts case was going on, she blew off her lid.

They had no right to discuss Ellie’s mental state like that! No one has the right to discuss their daughter for entertainment.

Liam asked her to be calm and kissed her. Well, he KISSED her to bed, and she couldn’t ask him about it further to him.

She thought Sidney might be the "anonymous source", but Sidney was safely contained in that rehabilitation center, and she was told that she had no access to the outside world.

So, who was it?

The stories were kept on printed and uploaded. As Lennon’s case was the trending topic, their story sold too, probably.

One story said that the helps in the Roberts household quit because of the incessant fighting between the couple. Rory didn’t remember having help in her house. So where did that story come from?

And another story said that they were sleeping in separate bedrooms for the past few weeks. They were so sure of it. They even posted a picture of somebody’s penthouse and marked the bedrooms each of them is apparently sleeping in.

Rory could only scoff.

These days she is unable to wake up early to prepare a proper breakfast because her husband is not letting her sleep at night. He’s become a beast in the bed. If only they knew.

And she was almost gathering her courage to meet Lennon again. That guy almost ruined her life. She became a broken shell of herself because of him.

Thanks to her husband, she is fine now.

The rebellious trait in her wanted to meet him and brag that she is doing great these days even though he tried to break her.

Just to tell him that she is doing fine while he is rotting in the prison. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

But then she’d think if that would achieve anything. If she wants to do something to damage him, she wanted to make him confess. But how will she do that?

She is not that smart! And she didn’t think that Lennon would fall for the same trick twice. She didn’t think that batting her eyelashes at him would work. She didn’t want to do that either for any purpose.

She didn’t want to hurt Liam by doing so.

Another tabloid reported that Ellie got hurt in the fight between her parents.

And this made Rory enraged.

She asked Liam about it. He let out a sigh and offered to cook dinner for the night. She had a feeling that Liam had something to do with all this.

Liam was acting very suspicious that night. He even offered to wash the dishes even though he was the one who cooked.

"Why?" she asked leaning on the counter.

She let him do the dishes. She did the arduous task of drying the dishes. He wished for it!

"Because I know you can break him again," Liam said. "I know you’re mad Ellie got involved in the fire. But... I’m sorry about that. I didn’t know it would go that far. But I don’t regret this approach."

Rory sighed seeing the clarity in his eyes. He did feel sorry Ellie was involved. But what can they do. Whether the tabloids write about her or not, Ellie is involved with Lennon. And the Roberts surname is involved too. It’s unfair. But what can be done?

"You think that Lennon would open up magically because he thinks that we split up?" she asked. She didn’t think it would be possible.

"You keep on forgetting that he is a psychopath, Cherry," Liam rubbed her arm gently. "His reputation is ruined and he’s not going to decide to salvage it. He wants to drag me down and you... He wants something from you... Maybe he still wants you because you’re the one he missed..."

"Fizzy..." she held his hand. "I don’t think he cares about me all that much. But I do want to brag...Wait... Why are these stories about our "separation"? What should I brag about?"

"It’s just a curve ball of sorts. I don’t know but I know this would work. I have a feeling that he will have his guard down when you meet him," Liam said.

"But I used the same trick on his last time. Is he going to even believe the tabloids?" she asked. "How will he have access to tabloids? Is he allowed to read newspapers?"

"He will," Liam said. "There are ways..."

"Do you trust me to hold my own there?" she asked.

This is the most important question. She didn’t care about his intention to let her meet Lennon. All she wanted to know was how could he trust her with this heavy task after what happened in the past.

Liam closed the tap and wiped his hands on her dress. Biting his lips, he leaned to her face. He then kissed her forehead. His hold was gentle and the smile on his face was pleasant.

But Rory’s heart started to race.

"I do," he said. "I trust your love for me. You know how much you mean to me, and to what extent I will go for you. I know you won’t let his words affect you like last time."

He meant it. The previous time, there were some unresolved issues between them. He was not entirely trustworthy. Her love for him didn’t match his trustworthiness. And now, he knew that they are on the same page. They love and trust each other. They both know how much each of them means to the other.

Nothing can shake them now. Not even a manipulative psychopath.

Rory’s eyes clouded with tears, and she leaned on his chest. "You are right. I do know how much you love me," she said wrapping her arms around his back.

He’ll love her no matter what. He won’t push her away even if she tries hard to push him away.

So, there is nothing she has to fear.

She will face Lennon. And she will try to break him as everyone thinks she can.

She needs to prepare for that.
