The Second Son of the Marquis Wants to Laze Around-Chapter 83: The Entrance
Chapter 83: The Entrance
In Northwest of the Dry Forest...
Atop a small hill nestled within the vast, dry forest, Eren had set up a surprisingly modern-looking campsite. The area, elevated and surrounded by sparse vegetation and jagged rocks, gave him a panoramic view of the land. His campsite was cozy yet futuristic—an odd blend of otherworldly tech and traditional outdoor setup.
There was a sleek, hexagon-shaped tent made of reinforced fiber that shimmered faintly under the sun, a collapsible wooden table with a foldable chair, a solar-powered electric kettle, and a modern camping stove that looked like it belonged in a sci-fi movie. A small lantern floated quietly in the air using mana, casting a soft glow even in daylight, and beside it sat a stainless-steel cooler.
Eren emerged from the tent with a big yawn, rubbing his eyes as the early morning sun gently painted the sky in shades of orange and lavender. He stretched his arms, his disheveled hair fluttering slightly in the breeze. The view from the hill was nothing short of breathtaking—mist rolled lazily over the forest canopy below, and a flock of colorful birds soared in V-formation, vanishing into the distant horizon. A small river glittered in the far distance, snaking through the dry land like a silver thread.
Still half-asleep, Eren pulled a frozen ready-made meal from his system shop inventory and tossed it into his magical microwave, which sat securely on the wooden table. He then poured himself a mug of rich, steaming coffee from the electric kettle and took a long, satisfying sip.
"Mmm... now that’s the good vacation," he murmured to himself, enjoying the blend of modern luxury and natural serenity.
As he leaned back in his chair, enjoying the breeze, a holographic green screen blinked into view before him, shimmering in blue light.
[Master, I have scanned the areas you specified.]
The screen displayed Useless, reporting in with a monotone voice that somehow always sounded both tired and deadpan.
"And?" Eren asked casually, sipping from his mug.
[You were right. After multiple scans, I located a suspicious zone—an area where my sensors detect absolutely nothing. A complete void.]
"Good. Then we’ll check it out after breakfa—"
Before he could finish, a massive shadow passed overhead, followed by the thunderous cry of a monster and a gust of wind strong enough to make his hair whip wildly.
He looked up slowly, eyes narrowing.
Above him flew a group of wyverns—large, fearsome beasts covered in obsidian scales with massive wingspans and long, serpent-like tails. Their eyes glowed a faint red, and sharp, jagged horns protruded from their heads. Despite their intimidating presence, they moved with a surprising grace through the sky.
What caught Eren’s attention even more, however, were the armored individuals riding the wyverns. Warriors clad in dark leather and enchanted armor, gripping reins forged from magical metals.
"Hmm... looks like someone’s in a hurry," Eren muttered. He watched silently, taking another sip of coffee, completely calm.
Thanks to the high-level concealment dome he’d deployed around his campsite, the wyverns and their riders passed by without noticing him. They continued heading east, possibly toward the Aisman Kingdom.
Not that Eren cared.
–Ding!
The microwave chimed cheerfully. Breakfast was ready.
"Perfect timing," he smiled.
Unbeknownst to him, those riders were elite mercenaries hired by none other than his father, the Marquis.
Their destination is to meet the Marquis. And the main reason is because of him
...
Later, after finishing his breakfast—which consisted of a perfectly microwaved omelet, toast, and meat patties—Eren made his way down the hill to the area Useless had pointed out.
Against the rocky hill wall, something felt off.
–Knock knock
–Knick knock
He tapped both sides of the stone surface. One side produced a dull thud, while the other gave off a strangely hollow sound.
"This the place?"
[Affirmative.]
"Analyze it. What’s it made of?" He ordered.
After a short pause, Useless reported that both sides consist of identical natural stone of rock. There’s no trace of enchantments or foreign materials. Just... a plain pure rock.
...
What? Want a detailed breakdown of the rock’s mineral composition? Yeah, no thanks. Let’s just say it’s generic rock #27.
I doubt anyone would care.
The sound difference confirmed Eren’s hunch—something was hidden behind that wall. Something hollow.
Now came the real challenge: how to break it?
"Could just punch it... but I don’t want to hurt my hand. And that sounds like way too much effort," Eren muttered lazily.
[Or you could increase your Strength stat?]
"No thanks. Again, too much effort. I’m trying to not work my body to much."
[...]
Useless paused.
[Then why not just purchase a hammer from the shop? A big one?]
"Too heavy. Too much effort"
[...You can purchase a lightweight enchanted one.]
"How many swings would I need to break the wall?"
[Three. Maybe four.]
"Ugh. Still too many," Eren groaned.
Useless’ screen glitched slightly from disbelief as it wanted to scream.
Because every options he was thinking off didn’t work for him, (despite he only came up with just two). He decided to use the most inconvenient solution that has been used before in human history.
.....
Two Minutes Later...
[Master... are you seriously going through with this?]
From behind a nearby tree, Eren leaned his back on it’s trunk with both hands over his ears. A long wire snaked from his hiding spot all the way to the rock wall, where several crates of modren TNT were stacked like a very explosive art project.
"Of course. This is definitely the most efficient solution," he grinned, eyes gleaming with mischief as he struck a lighter.
Once again, Useless felt its circuits scream internally. It had reminded Eren countless times to learn basic elemental magic—fire, water, even a simple spark spell for cooking or lighting things. But no, Eren insisted on doing things the old-fashioned, absurdly inefficient way.
The fuse ignited with a hiss and traveled quickly toward the pile of explosives.
Eren leaned against the tree, fingers plugging his ears.
...10 seconds passed.
....
Nothing happened.
He peeked out.
"Huh? Did it fail?" he asked with a puzzled frown.
Useless scanned the area.
[No errors detected. All devices should be functioning normally.]
After some silence, Eren decided to go and check. But just as he was walking there–
"Well, that’s weird. Guess I’ll go check—"
–BOOOOOOM!
A massive explosion erupted, shaking the earth and causing the trees around to tremble. Dirt and stone flew in every direction as the concealed wall was blown apart.
[MASTER!!!] Useless screamed in panic.
But as the smoke and dust cleared, a figure remained standing unharmed amidst the debris.
Eren was surrounded by a transparent magic barrier, the shield had absorbed the full force of the explosion. The wind rustled his coat as he stood there like a Boss, completely nonchalant.
"Yeah... totally saw that coming.a mile away." he said with a flat expression and deadpan tone.
It turned out that just moments before the explosion, Eren had used a magic scroll imbued with a mid-tier protective spell—Arcane Barrier. The translucent shield had activated instantly upon detecting a threat, enveloping him in a bubble of glowing light and saving him from what would have otherwise been a painful, fiery surprise.
Now, as the dust finally began to settle, Eren casually brushed off the dirt and ash that had landed on his clothes from the blast. His expression was calm, unbothered—as if explosions were nothing more than a minor inconvenience.
A small ding echoed softly, and Useless’s holographic screen appeared in front of him, slightly flickering.
[Master, are you okay?!]
"I’m fine," Eren replied in an annoyed tone, still brushing off the remaining soot from his sleeves. He sounded less concerned about his wellbeing and more irritated that his breakfast had been interrupted by loud noises and debris.
He then began walking toward the large, jagged crack left behind by the explosion.
–Step
–Step
–Step
But just as he was about to pass through, he came to a sudden stop. Without explanation, he raised his fist to the sky... and then raised a single middle finger.
Useless blinked—or would have, if it had eyelids. Instead, its screen simply glitched for a moment in visible confusion. The system had long grown used to Eren’s strange habits, but this one was especially weird.
He did it with a half-stoic, half-disgusted expression before lowering his hand and walking into the cracked wall without another word. Useless, floating behind, tilted slightly as if sighing.
Just as Eren passed into the opening, he muttered something quietly under his breath—so soft that even Useless’s couldn’t fully catch it.
"...Connard."
...
Inside the broken wall was a dark, eerie tunnel. The air felt different—heavier, more ancient. Shadows clung to the rough stone walls, and visibility was near zero. With a casual flick of his wrist, Eren opened the System Shop and purchased a compact tactical flashlight. He clicked it on, casting a narrow beam of bright white light ahead.
Useless couldn’t help but wish it had a face—or at least a pair of digital eyes—so it could roll them in pure disappointment and annoyance.
The flashlight revealed a narrow stone corridor that seemed to stretch endlessly forward. He walked calmly, taking his time, his footsteps echoing off the cold stone floor. About a minute in, the tunnel widened abruptly into a vast underground chamber. Eren paused.
The beam of his flashlight landed on an ancient, towering stone door embedded into the far wall. It was massive—easily five meters tall—with weathered iron bands and archaic runes carved along its surface. The stone was dark and dense, scarred with cracks and moss, giving it the look of a dungeon entrance sealed for centuries. It looked imposing and foreboding, like something that dared anyone to open it.
Before the door, carved directly into the stone floor, was a massive circular design glowing. It pulsed slowly—ominous and alive.
"Useless," Eren called, flashing the light between the glowing circle and the massive door. "Scan both. Start with the carving on the floor."
The system immediately began analyzing, its screen shifting rapidly with lines of code and ancient script. A couple of minutes later, it pinged.
[Scan complete. The carving is indeed a magic circle. It’s similar to standard Teleportation Magic, but... more advanced. Highly refined, complex, and old.]
"Oh?" Eren tilted his head slightly. "So it’s a trap?"
[Yes, Master. It seems someone placed it here a long time ago. Likely to catch intruders.]
"And where does it teleport to?"
A small loading symbol spun on the hologramic screen for a few seconds, before a prompt appeared asking for SP to access the deeper archives. Eren accepted.
[Destination: The Demon Realm.]
