The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 65: Incredulous

"What’s going on between Alpha and Princess?" asked Lucas, barging into Lydia’s room.

The woman’s eye lightly swept over him before she continued to fix the collar of her shirt. She responded, "How would I know?"

Lucas’s eyes narrowed at her. There was no way Lydia would be clueless. The woman was too sharp to not catch the details.

He strode over to her, decreasing the distance between them.

"You do know, don’t you? Why would the Alpha visit her room late at night, especially yesterday out of all nights? Why is his wolf so friendly to her when it bears pure hostility and menace towards everyone?"

"You should ask the Alpha on that," Lydia calmly replied, about to walk away when her actions were stopped by Lucas.

He held on to her wrist, twisting her hands so that they were behind her back, and pushed her towards the wall. Those eyes of his stared at her solemnly— his gaze piercing and demanding.

"You are too calm. You know something, don’t you?" Lucas arched his brow.

Lydia shifted uncomfortably under Lucas’s grip but remained unsuccessful. Lucas had the full training as a pack warrior while she studied to be a doctor. The differences between their strength was glaring.

"Why? Are you upset that Violet wouldn’t belong to you anymore?" Lydia spat, annoyed.

Lucas furrowed his brows. "Just fucking tell me what the truth is or else I would believe you enjoy squirming under my hold like this."

After showing a disgusted expression, Lydia cleared her throat and spoke out, "You can’t spill this out in front of Alpha or Violet, or else I will personally take your life."

Lucas impatiently nodded.

"They are each other’s second chance mates," Lydia revealed.

Lucas blinked his eyes, taking a second to process that. It felt as though brick fell on his head one after another today.

"Second chance mates?" Lucas enunciated.

Lydia noticed Lucas’s downcast expression, and that made her feel further irritated. "Now, let go of me!"

His hold on her loosened, and Lydia rubbed her wrists.

"Second chance mates? That sounds incredulous, but I suppose it ties up everything. No wonder Alpha behaves so oddly with Princess. He— Ow!"

Before Lucas was able to carry on with his conjecture, Lydia’s fist targeted his stomach, causing him to bend over. And the next second her knees attacked his stomach, knocking the air out.

Lucas grabbed his stomach, crouching.

"If you dare do this again, I am amputating all four of your limbs," Lydia threatened. The dark glint in her eyes showed how well she meant it.

Violet sat at the porch of the house, waiting for Alpha to arrive. The chilly breeze blowing her hair made her shudder at times. However, she was more irritated by the mosquitoes that constantly tried to get a taste of her.

Her hand was at non-stop motion, trying to kill them.

Nonetheless, this helped her be distracted from the nerve-wracking thoughts on confronting the Alpha. She prepared the full speech in her head.

But the moment the man stood in front of her, her mind went blank. Her round hazel eyes watched unblinkingly as the man walked towards her. Violet’s heart squeezed in anxiety when Sylas walked past her, ignoring her presence.

She instantly stood up and called, "Alpha."

She bit her lower lip in anticipation, watching the man turn back to look at her.

"I-uhm- sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have done that to you. I must have lost my mind then. I am sorry. It must have felt really uncomfortable for you. You can hold me accountable in any way you like. I will accept it." Violet tightly closed her eyes, waiting for her punishment.

"It is me who disturbed you. And I forced you previously once as well. So, why don’t we call it even and forget about it?" came Sylas’s gentle voice.

Violet’s hazel eyes opened, staring at Sylas in a daze.

This meant that he wanted to go back to square one.

Violet felt reluctant in her heart.

And before she knew it, her hand reached out to grab the sleeve of the man’s shirt, stopping him. Under Sylas’s questioning stare, Violet instantly released him.

"I like you, Alpha," she confessed.

Instead of being surprised, Sylas’s eyes narrowed at her.

"Are you aware of what you’re saying?" His voice dropped a few octaves.

Violet nodded.

"Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying this to impose my feelings on you or try to get you to feel the same way for me although that would be great.

But I know you’re in love with your mate, Alpha. I just wanted to let my feelings out. Maybe they were obvious at this point. But yeah, I like you because you’re worth it, Alpha," Violet expressed, feeling a burden lightening from her chest.

Sylas stared at her in silence.

"My feelings are my own, Alpha. I am liking you on my terms. That’s why, you don’t have to respond with anything. Also, also, can you please be a bit more careful in front of me in the future? You know, I like you, so I am not able to control myself in front of you," Violet continued.

Sylas broke out into a laughter.

Violet blinked her eyes, confused at his reaction. She rubbed the back of her head.

"I understand. Thank you for your precious feelings," Sylas softly replied.

With that, Violet’s heart skipped a beat again. The gentle and elegant smile on his face made her cheeks heat up.

Right, there was no reason for her to not like Alpha.

"Now, let’s get inside before you catch a cold," Sylas said.

Violet was about to follow him in when a wince left her mouth.

"What’s the matter?" Sylas questioned.

"I think the baby might have just kicked. Oh! Here it is again!" Violet exclaimed.

She reached out to touch her stomach. A big smile bloomed on her face following the sensation.

Violet then realized Sylas’s gaze was on her stomach. She extended her hand to reach for his wrist and let his palm touch her stomach.

"Feel it, Alpha," Violet stated.

Sylas was about to move his hand back when the soft push against his hand made him pause.
