The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 152 - 149: Top-notch Trash?
When Qin Fan returned to Jiangzhou, news of the Bai Clan’s annihilation sent a massive shockwave through the entire Third World.
The Bai Clan was no stranger to the people of the Third World; their most distinguished legacy was being the descendants of the Tomb Raider Captains. For such a clan to be exterminated just like that, without any warning? Simply gone in an instant? The sudden news plunged the whole Third World into a state of extreme tension and suspicion.
Countless people tried to uncover any clues, but no matter what methods they employed, they found nothing. The reason was simple: there were no survivors left from the Bai Clan. The only possible source of information was the young women Qin Fan had rescued. However, at the police station, the girls were all in a state of severe shock. They only remembered a man, a very young one, but none could describe his appearance or offer any other identifying features.
「Jiangzhou.」
Upon hearing the news, the first name that flashed through Lai Zhuge’s and Ye Jizu’s minds was "Qin Fan."
For Ye Jizu, the connection was unavoidable. Qin Chu and Wei Shuying had just been endangered, and shortly thereafter, the Bai Clan in the Southwest was utterly annihilated without warning. The perpetrator was described as a very young man. Adding to this, someone had spotted Qin Fan’s Bentley parked at the airport just hours earlier. With so many coincidences piling up, he had no choice but to link the events to Qin Fan. However, he was still completely baffled as to why the Bai Clan would target his parents.
For Lai Zhuge, the connection was made after he discovered that the man who had vanished from the Magic Artifact exchange was a member of the Bai Clan. It was obvious that Qin Fan had sabotaged his three-hundred-million-dollar deal, and the resulting feud left plenty of room for speculation. Besides, he couldn’t think of anyone else with that level of ruthless capability.
But regardless, this was all just their conjecture.
Qin Fan was completely oblivious to the uproar his annihilation of the Bai Clan had caused in the Third World, and even if he had known, he couldn’t be bothered to care. After arriving back in Jiangzhou, he immediately hurried home. By then, the sun was beginning to set, and it was time for dinner.
As Qin Fan pushed the door open, the fragrant aroma of cooking food wafted over him.
"Xiaofan, you’re back! Perfect timing. I was just about to have your dad call you. Hurry and wash your hands for dinner!" Wei Shuying called out with a laugh as she turned from setting the table with three bowls and chopsticks.
"Mom, you should be resting. We could have just eaten out. Why did you have to cook?" Qin Fan asked, his voice full of concern. Although he knew that after the infusion of his True Qi, his parents were not only fine but that their old, lingering ailments had also vanished, he couldn’t help but worry about them as their son.
"It’s nothing! I know my own body. If I were feeling unwell, I wouldn’t be in the kitchen, believe me. Now, hurry up and wash your hands so we can eat! Qin Chu, what are you still doing holed up in the bedroom? Xiaofan’s home, come out and eat!" Wei Shuying turned and shouted toward the bedroom.
"Coming!" Qin Chu responded cheerfully, quickly walking out of the room.
At the fragrant dinner table, Qin Fan tore through the food like a whirlwind, and the large spread of dishes was quickly devoured. Watching him wolf everything down, Wei Shuying and Qin Chu exchanged a stunned glance.
"Xiaofan, how long has it been since you last ate? Didn’t Principal Tao say you were representing the school at a debate competition in the United States? Did you not have a single decent meal for the past half a month?" Wei Shuying asked blankly.
Representing the school at a debate in the United States? Damn! Principal Tao really comes up with the most incredible excuses!
It wasn’t really Tao Yuan’s fault. Qin Fan had a habit of taking leave without specifying a return date. To avoid getting caught in a web of lies, Tao Yuan had to resort to excuses about overseas activities.
"Mom, you have no idea. The food at the Chinese restaurants over there is terrible; it can’t compare to your cooking at all. After half a month away, I guess I lost a bit of my composure," Qin Fan laughed, putting down his bowl and chopsticks.
Ordinarily, he wouldn’t be so ravenous. He had spent half a month deep in the Shennongjia Forest without a drop of water or a grain of rice. Upon his return, he had gone through a bloody slaughter, and the scent of home-cooked food now made his appetite explode beyond his control.
"That makes sense," Wei Shuying nodded.
Just then, Qin Chu also put down his chopsticks. He adopted a more serious expression and looked at his son. "Xiaofan, there’s a land auction at Fushan Cloud Residence tonight. Would you like to come with your mom and me to broaden your horizons? You’re our only son, and the family business will be yours to inherit one day. This is a good opportunity to start observing that circle."
"Qin Chu, what are you talking about? Xiaofan’s college entrance exams are right around the corner. Is it really appropriate for him to skip his studies to join that kind of high-society event?" Wei Shuying immediately protested.
"Does one evening really make a difference?" Qin Chu asked, his voice lacking some confidence.
He had asked Qin Fan along mainly to test just how much his son had changed and to see if he would get stage fright. If Qin Fan were still his old self, he never would have suggested it; he would have simply focused on earning money to leave him a fortune. But now, seeing the many subtle changes in his son, what father wouldn’t harbor hopes of his son becoming a great success? Who wouldn’t want their child to stand out from the crowd?
"Mom, Dad’s right! One evening won’t make a difference. Let me go with you and gain some experience!" Qin Fan said with a cheerful grin.
"You really want to go?" Wei Shuying hesitated, her brows furrowed in thought.
"Yeah, I’ll go! It’s a good chance to see what the upper-class circle is like," Qin Fan replied with a firm nod.
"Alright, then. The auction starts at eight o’clock sharp. Go take a shower and change your clothes," Wei Shuying relented, seeing how determined he was.
But a sense of unease rose in her heart. For one, although she and her husband had been fortunate enough to obtain tickets, they were still considered outsiders in the eyes of high society. Furthermore, Qin Fan’s past reputation was so poor that she was genuinely worried something might happen that would upset him. But given the united front of the father and son, she couldn’t say any more. In fact, a small part of her was now somewhat looking forward to seeing how Qin Fan would handle himself.
「That night.」
Just as the sky began to darken, the family of three walked out of their home, chatting and laughing.
To avoid the hassle of another round of explanations with his parents, Qin Fan didn’t offer to drive the Bentley with its outrageously cool license plate. Instead, he smiled, walked over to the Mercedes-Benz his parents had recently purchased, opened the door, and got in.
Under the gradually descending veil of night, Qin Chu drove the Mercedes, speeding toward Fushan Cloud Residence, a large private club exclusively for the upper echelon of Jiangzhou society.
Just as Qin Chu parked the Mercedes and the family of three stepped out of the car, a voice dripping with mockery and thick with contempt suddenly rang out from behind them.
"Well, well, if it isn’t my family’s disowned uncle? Oh, my, and the number one failure is here too! Tsk, tsk, Fushan Cloud Residence is really lowering its standards these days, letting just anyone in! Ugh, cheap! So cheap! Remember this, you lot," a man in a well-tailored suit sneered, shaking his head before turning to the young men with him. "Next time we have an event, don’t pick Fushan Cloud Residence. It’s degrading, just too degrading!"
"Haha, yes, yes, Young Master Qin is right!"
"Listen to Young Master Qin. We’ll have to find a new spot!"
"Young Master Qin, didn’t you want to bid on some land? Let’s just put up with it for this one time!"
