The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 388 – Mum, we have to talk
Chapter 388: Chapter 388 – Mum, we have to talk frёeωebɳovel.com
Robin burst into laughter. "If you must know, I would do kill for my wife," he said. He leaned back, as if distancing himself from his previous statement, and added, "what was said was a mistake, so I will forgive you. Let’s speak sensibly and come to an agreement."
Jacob was angry and felt belittled. "Are you insulting me?"
"Is that how it sounds?" Robin asked, seemingly unfazed by the pain in his twin brother’s eyes, as he had demanded for Sabrina.
Robin couldn’t stand anyone showing interest in his wife, not even his twin brother.
"Whatever, just let me go and nobody gets hurt," Jacob said.
Robin rose to his feet and paced around, saying, "You have already caused a lot of damage. If you want a fight, I can give it to you. Or you could come clean. You knew we were twins, so why didn’t you come to me? We could have handled this better than you hiding in the dark and trying to destroy me. What did I do to you?"
Robin’s gaze darkened and his anger burned. If Sabrina was just a shallow woman, their enemies would have succeeded in breaking them apart.
She chose to trust him even when he didn’t deserve it, and that was how they were able to overcome the obstacles their enemies put in their way.
However, unknown to Robin, he had said something that did not sit well with Jacob. The latter said,
"Stop, stop. You and I might share the same father, but we don’t share the same mother and we are not twins."
Jacob could not entertain the possibility for two reasons. One was the fact that they shared no resemblance to each other, and the other was the fact that they had different mothers, only sharing the same father.
Robin slowly understood where the problem lay. His twin brother had been fed lies and had believed them too much to think clearly.
"Give me your email address. I will send you the DNA report and any other findings I have. If that’s not enough for you, choose a trusted hospital. I’m ready to provide you with my blood, hair, or nail sample. Whichever one would be suitable for you."
There was no point in trying to explain when science could do a good job. Jacob shook his head, finding the man he thought was his half-brother’s trick laughable.
"If we are twins, then why do we have different mothers?" he scoffed. Robin shook his head and said,
"We share the same mother, and she’s already deceased."
Jacob shook his head in disbelief, feeling that Robin was trying to manipulate him.
"That’s not true. Your father was dating my mother. When she got pregnant, he rejected her because your mother was also pregnant," Jacob said angrily, his eyes instantly turning red.
Robin understood where the problem lay. The evil woman had done a great job of feeding his twin brother so many lies that he felt neglected and sought revenge because of it.
He explained bitterly, "My father never had another woman aside from my mother. That woman you call your mother was my mother’s best friend. The night we were born, according to what our grandmother said, the doctors said you had died."
"She said our mom didn’t believe it and kept yelling for you, but a dead baby was presented before her and my father. Grandma said that that same night we were born, our father had an accident."
"It was the reason why she wasn’t there throughout the period of labor, and our mother kept insisting that she heard you cry, but it was her word against that of the doctors," Robin recounted everything.
As Jacob listened, he could not bring himself to trust or believe Robin’s words over those of the woman he knew to be his mother.
"No. My mom can’t lie to me."
Robin shook his head and explained further, "She stole you from her best friend. If only she would be kind enough to tell you the truth, then we wouldn’t be having this misunderstanding."
Silence descended like a thick blanket, both of them lost in thought. Robin hoped that his twin brother would believe the truth, and Jacob was not willing to accept that the woman he had known all his life as his mother was fake.
No, he also could not allow himself to feel guilty for going against Robin because of the things that same woman told him.
Apology was not in Jacob’s blood, and he was not ready to accept this information.
"No. My mom is not lying to me. You want to confuse me, so you are lying to me," he glared at Robin with angry, red eyes.
Robin found it useless to explain himself any further and pointed out,
"You are old, and from the way I see it, you have the resources to find out the truth. Even if you don’t, my wife and I have already decided to give you fifty percent of everything we own. Do your own investigations. Take your mother with you. After finding out the truth, you know where to find me."
Jacob was shocked that Robin did not torture him or pay someone to do so after all that he had done.
Somehow, he could not help but feel that Robin was up to something bigger as he watched Robin’s back. But as Robin reached the door, he turned around and spoke again,
"Just one piece of advice. If you are investigating something like this, you should keep it from her until you find out the truth."
Robin walked back to Jacob, took out a small pair of scissors from the first aid kit, cut a bit of his hair, and stuffed it into Jacob’s hands.
"When I attacked you at the wedding, I took your hair sample because you looked like our mother. Now you can have mine in exchange and do what you have to do. You are free to go," Robin said and walked away.
When he reached the entrance, he said to the bodyguards, "Your job is done. You are free to go home."
The bodyguards were surprised that Robin had not allowed them to torture the two people after all the damage they had caused.
In the presidential suite, Jacob was so shocked he went numb. Now he understood that he looked like his real mother and Robin must have taken after their father.
The information was too much for him, and since Robin said his mother was in the next room, he went there for some answers.
"Mum, we have to talk." His darkened gaze caused the color to drain from Ethel’s face.
