The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse-Chapter 71 Golden Liquid
Sylas sat calmly inside the car, listening to Colonel Saw and the others’ conversation, but inside, he was not as calm as he appeared on the outside.
What about him attracted the high-level zombies and other creatures?
Were they after his energy stone?
Was it because of his space ability?
Several questions popped up inside his mind. He didn’t know the exact reason, and it made him feel uneasy. It also meant that he was putting others in danger if he stayed in a group.
Also, that strange entity he encountered was very strong. He didn’t know why it appeared or why it didn’t make a move on him. Now that he thought about it carefully, he realized that it might have sensed the arrival of Colonel Saw and his group, so it left. But why it appeared only in front of him and why it only observed him before leaving, he had no idea.
Bang! Bang!
The sound of gunshots dragged Sylas back from his thoughts.
There were zombies ahead, and the soldiers took out their guns and shot them down.
Colonel Saw got out of the car, and Sylas also got out after him. There were some zombies that had formed energy stones, and they were stronger than low-level zombies, but they were far from high-level zombies.
Colonel Saw immediately whooshed past Sylas like a gust of wind, and within seconds, he was near the stronger zombies. Wind blades surged out from Colonel Saw’s hands, killing the zombies wherever he passed.
’Wind ability! Quite fast,’ Sylas thought as he observed how Colonel Saw used his wind ability to fight the zombies.
The soldiers barely made a move before Colonel Saw dealt with the group of zombies.
"Done. Let’s go," Colonel Saw said as he dusted off the nonexistent dust from his hands.
Sylas raised his brows in surprise. It looked like they had yet to discover the existence of energy stones.
"Colonel, don’t you need to extract the energy stones from stronger zombies?" Sylas asked, probing.
"Energy stones? What’s that?" Colonel Saw asked, confused. The other soldiers were also confused and looked at Sylas.
Sylas was now very sure that they hadn’t discovered the existence of energy stones.
Sylas didn’t answer immediately. He stepped forward and raised his hand. Spatial blades flashed out from his hand instantly, and the heads of the stronger zombies were split open. Then he picked out energy stones from their heads, each the size of a pea.
"These are energy stones," Sylas said as he walked over and handed them to Colonel Saw.
"This... I can feel the energy inside it. Is it useful for us awakened humans?" Colonel Saw asked as he observed the energy stones in his hand.
The soldiers also looked at the pea-sized energy stones with their mouths wide open. It was their first time seeing and learning about energy stones.
"Take one in your hand and hold it, then try absorbing it by activating your energy," Sylas said as he leaned against the car door with a smirk.
Colonel Saw immediately followed Sylas’s instructions and absorbed the energy stone.
"This... Oh my God!" Colonel Saw opened his eyes wide in shock.
The rest of the soldiers fixed their eyes on Colonel Saw.
"This energy stone can restore our energy?" Colonel Saw asked in surprise.
Sylas nodded and said, "Energy stones are found in strong mutated plants and animals too."
"Colonel, is what you said true?"
"Can it really restore our depleted energy?"
"Does that mean if we have these energy stones, we don’t have to wait an hour or so for our energy to recover?"
The soldiers with abilities asked Colonel Saw excitedly.
Colonel Saw immediately distributed the energy stones to the awakened soldiers so they could experience it themselves.
After a while, everyone was shocked and surprised.
"Colonel, it looks like we missed out on so many energy stones."
"We didn’t extract energy stones from the mutated stray dogs either."
"The mutated plants too..."
The soldiers spoke in regretful tones.
"Alright, let’s get back into the cars. We’ll talk about this after reaching the safe zone. Sylas, tell me more about energy stones and how you discovered them," Colonel Saw said as he opened the car door.
Colonel Saw also felt regretful, but as a colonel, he remained calm.
Sylas got into the car, and as it started moving toward the safe zone, he told Colonel Saw everything he knew about energy stones.
In half an hour, they reached the safe zone. In front of it, there were many cars belonging to survivors from Pinewood Town. Many people were lined up in front of the gate, registering and getting their blood checked in case of infection.
"Looks like many survivors from Pinewood Town plan to stay here in N City," Colonel Saw said. Since Sylas had already told him about it, he wasn’t surprised by the long queue at the front gate.
Sylas wasn’t surprised either. Many survivors were normal people without strength or abilities, so they wouldn’t want to take risks by traveling far. Staying in N City’s safe zone was the obvious choice.
The military cars passed through the side gate. After entering, all of them were immediately checked as well. Nurses and doctors quickly tested their blood, while soldiers stood guard with guns. In case someone transformed, they were ready to shoot immediately at the gate.
Sylas also had his blood drawn and tested.
After confirming that all returning soldiers were clear, the doctor immediately gave them the green signal.
"Colonel, Major Kyle from Pinewood Town is waiting for you in the office," one of the soldiers reported.
Colonel Saw nodded and said to Sylas, "Let’s go together."
Sylas nodded and followed behind Colonel Saw.
When Major Kyle saw Sylas and Colonel Saw enter together, he immediately let out a sigh of relief.
"Colonel," Major Kyle stood up immediately.
Colonel Saw waved his hand. "Just sit down. There’s no need for formalities."
Major Kyle complied and immediately turned his attention to Sylas.
"Sylas, thank God you’re alright. Are you okay?" Major Kyle asked.
Sylas nodded in response. "I’m alright."
"Major, are you really heading directly to the capital?" Colonel Saw asked.
"Yes. Doctor Farlo is with us, and he’s urgently needed at the research laboratory. Even if there were no zombie army threatening us, we would have still made the journey to the capital sooner or later," Major Kyle explained.
Colonel Saw and Major Kyle talked for half an hour while Sylas sat quietly, listening.
"I’ll wait for orders from higher-ups. I can’t abandon the safe zone or the survivors. As for the zombie army, with their slow movement, it will take time for them to reach N City. In the meantime, we’ll prepare ourselves. We have light rocket weapons with sufficient launchers and rockets to deal with the zombie army, so we don’t need to worry about that. Only the high-level zombies will be troublesome to deal with," Colonel Saw said with a frown.
Sylas had already dealt with the high-level zombie, but he couldn’t tell them, so he remained silent. Since he knew there were only low-level zombies in the army, he wasn’t worried about Colonel Saw and his team’s ability to handle it.
"High-level zombies can use mental attacks, so be careful if you encounter one," Sylas said.
"Mental attack?"
"What is that?"
Both Colonel Saw and Major Kyle asked, looking at Sylas.
"The high-level zombie I encountered earlier used a mental attack during the fight," Sylas said. Since he couldn’t expose his fight with the high-level zombie in Pinewood Town, he phrased it that way. Sylas then explained mental attacks and how to defend against them.
"Is it that dangerous?" Major Kyle asked in surprise.
"High-level zombies with mental energy... this doesn’t sound good for us survivors," Colonel Saw said with a grave expression.
"Colonel, apart from encountering mutated animals and plants, have you encountered anything strange?" Sylas asked, probing. He wanted to know if they had seen that strange entity as well.
Colonel Saw shook his head. "No. Other than mutated plants and animals, we haven’t encountered any strange creatures. Did you encounter one?"
"We have one woman with us who could be considered strange. She’s immune to the zombie virus and is not an awakened human," Major Kyle said.
Colonel Saw looked surprised. "Immune to the zombie virus? Is that true?"
Major Kyle nodded. "Yes. That’s why we have to escort Doctor Farlo and that woman to the capital."
"I also have something with me which needs to be delivered to the capital too. It should be important, and research needs to be done," Colonel Saw said.
Colonel Saw immediately stood up and walked toward the table. From the table drawer, he took out a box, then walked back to Major Kyle and handed it to him.
"This is something I found when the apocalypse first broke out. I don’t know what it is, but I have a feeling this is not something ordinary," Colonel Saw said.
Major Kyle opened the box and saw a small glass vial containing a golden liquid that seemed to glow.
"What kind of liquid is this?" Major Kyle asked as he picked up the tightly sealed glass vial and observed it.
