The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse-Chapter 55 Preparations to leave
Sylas also wanted to keep some seeds for himself. After all, his space would likely be able to grow food too, so he kept some for himself and gave the rest to Serena.
"Major, I have gathered all the survivors on the campus ground," the soldier came back to report.
Major Kyle took a deep breath and said, "Let’s go. Ability users and the rest of the soldiers, come with me. If the survivors turn violent, we have to deal with the situation accordingly."
Sylas could hear the murmuring of the survivors on the campus ground clearly. All of them were confused as to why the Major had gathered everyone there.
When Major Kyle stood in front of the survivors, they all went quiet. Holding a megaphone in his hand, Major Kyle said, "To all the survivors, I have an emergency announcement to make, so please be patient with me and listen until the end, because we don’t have much time..."
Without wasting much time, Major Kyle told the survivors about the existence of high-level zombies and the army of zombies that were likely to attack the safe zone. He also finally told the survivors about the existence of ability users. When Major Kyle told the survivors about leaving the safe zone, the survivors started to make a commotion.
"Please be quiet and listen to me first," Major Kyle said in a loud and authoritative voice.
The survivors were agitated, but feeling a suppressive aura from Major Kyle, they quieted down. However, there were still some who voiced out angrily.
"What do you mean by leaving the safe zone? Where would we go?"
"Isn’t it your duty to provide for and protect us?"
"We are not going anywhere."
"The military wants to abandon us?"
Several unfriendly voices could be heard from the crowd of survivors.
Major Kyle narrowed his eyes and said in a stern voice, "Everyone, this is an apocalypse. How long are you guys going to depend on others for survival? You need to learn to survive on your own. We will distribute food to everyone sufficient for a few days. After that, you are responsible for your own food. We are leaving now and heading straight to the capital. If you want, you can follow us to the capital, or there are safe zones in every town and city, you can go there too. So, get ready now. We are leaving now."
Some people were not convinced and shouted at Major Kyle, but the soldiers blocked them. Major Kyle raised a firewall in front of him and left, surprising the survivors who were seeing an ability for the first time.
Major Kyle intentionally did that to intimidate the survivors.
Soon, a commotion broke out among the survivors. Some were angry, some were shouting and cursing, and some were crying. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
The soldiers quickly started distributing food and bottled water to everyone, sufficient for a few days.
The survivors wanted to protest but had no choice.
Everyone wanted to eat and sleep under the protection of others, but when that protection disappeared, they only had resentment instead of being thankful.
It was already evening, but everyone inside the safe zone was busy packing up to leave.
Sylas leaned against the railing and watched the soldiers and survivors busily getting ready to leave.
He didn’t need to pack anything, as he had stored everything inside his space. Sylas had just checked his space and sensed an increase in its size by a few cubic meters. Sylas knew that it was the work of the zombie energy stones he had consumed during the day.
The small pond also seemed to increase in size, but it was not very noticeable.
Seeing his space expand in size after absorbing the energy stones, Sylas was determined to get more energy stones.
Sylas closed his eyes, and using his senses, he rummaged through the seeds he had acquired that day.
Using his senses, he took out a packet of carrot seeds and scattered them near the pond.
He wanted to see whether his space could grow food.
"Sylas, here you are," Dylan called out as he walked towards him with a gun on his shoulder.
Sylas withdrew his senses from the space and opened his eyes. "Anything?" he asked, turning to look at Dylan.
"Major Kyle wants you to store some supplies for the military in your space," Dylan said.
"Got it," Sylas replied and left immediately to look for Major Kyle.
Major Kyle and Doctor Farlo were discussing something when Sylas arrived.
"We need to take her with us. Her immunity to the zombie virus could help us in finding a breakthrough in the zombie virus," Doctor Farlo said.
"But we can’t guarantee her safety on the way. Even if she is immune to the zombie virus, there are many other factors and variables," Major Kyle said.
"Just try your best and leave the rest to fate. She is the only one who is still not infected by the zombie virus after being bitten by it. So, if we can bring her back to the capital’s research center to study her constitution, we might get a lead in solving this zombie virus and put an end to these horrors," Doctor Farlo said.
Sylas immediately realized who they were talking about.
Seeing Sylas, Major Kyle said, "Sylas, you’re here."
"Yes, Major. Did you call for me?" Sylas asked.
Major Kyle immediately stood up and pointed towards Doctor Farlo’s laboratory. "We need your help with Doctor Farlo’s equipment. We don’t know what we will encounter on the way, but I think storing it in your space would be safer."
Sylas immediately nodded and followed Doctor Farlo to his lab and stored all the important equipment and research-related materials in his space. It didn’t take up much of his space anyway, so he wasn’t bothered. After that, Major Kyle also had Sylas store some emergency food and water in his space. There was also some ammunition.
"All of us will be carrying our own food because we might get separated on the way. We don’t know what kind of situation we will encounter, so to be on the safe side, you can carry it for emergencies," Major Kyle said.
"Major, what if I don’t make it to the capital, or something happens to me?" Sylas suddenly asked.
Major Kyle paused for a few seconds and said, "Then we can do nothing about it. We will leave that to fate. But I believe in your strength and character."
