The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 99: Blond Golddigger (Part 2)

Rem stared down the blonde, she didn’t even ask for permission before taking a seat next to him – her green eyes gazing all over his figure.

"So what do you do for a living?" She asked, looking at his waisthold that had a shortsword.

Rem stopped eating, staring at her with his dead lifeless eyes. The aura she gave off was strange and he didn’t like it... she had ulterior motives in talking to him.

’This is how life is supposed to be,’ Rem thought while raising the tea to his lips, ’Everybody has one reason or the other to talk to you... for this woman, I think it’s the amount of food that I bought,’

There were certain people that he had seen that didn’t have hidden motives – they brought their motives out as soon as they began talking with him, like the members of Mark’s peerage, they wanted to befriend him... they wanted to be close to him.

Ruby, the grass magus of course had hidden motives but she was very direct with it. The Apprentices just wanted to get to know him and this made him confused.

’There are people with motives and people without?’ He thought in confusion, he came from a place where everyone had motives, and they could keep it under wraps cleverly.

He decided to play along with the woman’s game.

"A Dungeon raider," Rem replied in between sips. The woman’s eyes shone as they met his – Rem could see through her seemingly kind eyes, they mirrored greed.

"Oh that means you’re a big strong man, huh?" She said in a cute seductive voice causing Rem to blink.

"Maybe so," Rem said, taking no heed to her seductive voice and enjoying his tea.

"Then would you mind showing me a good time on the bed?" The woman asked causing him to narrow his eyes in confusion, what did that mean?

Rem dropped down his cup and scratched his chin.

"What does that mean?" Rem asked with his confused expression... the woman gasped and tried to speak only for another woman to shove her out of her seat. Rem looked up and saw Ruby in her Magus clothes, staring down at the blond woman with hateful eyes.

"Fuck off, he’s mine," Ruby said and the blond woman scowled before reluctantly leaving. She had already been embarrassed once by the boy and this only made it worse...

"Rem, don’t mind her," Ruby said while taking a seat and beckoning the waiter, "Most women are like that,"

The waiter took her order and Ruby looked back at Rem – planning to explain what happened to him, she was already aware that Rem was clueless on a lot of happenings.

"Those kind of women are called Golddiggers," Ruby explained, "Those are women that are only interested in taking money from men with unorthodox methods, like that woman that approached you just now, most of the men in this Café have already slept with her... even Henry,"

Rem nodded, slept means sleep on the same bed so most of them had slept on the same bed with her.

"You should stay away from women like her," Ruby said, "They’re nothing but trouble, and they’re not friendship material either,"

Rem nodded again, silently as he continued eating his food. The music had continued and everyone went on with their own things. Rem was still contemplating on whether he wanted to enter another dungeon before heading to Orion to refine armor and swords.

"Seems like you made quite a haul at the dungeon today," Ruby said, "But you sure it’s okay to buy that much food, you already had a good meal last night,"

Rem shrugged.

"I don’t know if I’m going to sleep tonight," Rem said, "I have a lot of plans for tonight,"

Ruby looked him dead in the eyes.

"Plans that involve losing sleep?" Ruby asked while clenching her fists, "What kind of plans are that?"

"Training," Rem replied with a single word, he felt the tension in the air ease after that, "What else were you thinking?"

Ruby chuckled nervously.

"Nothing," She said, the waiter brought her order and she started eating, "Well I came to Reifall because I wanted to do at least one raid today, would you mind accompanying me?"

"Aren’t you a member of Mark’s party? You should only be able to go on raids with that party," Rem said.

"No," Ruby corrected, "As long as I have permission from the Team captain, I can assist other teams on raids as well,"

Rem nodded in realization – her explanation made much more sense, what if all the members of your party were sick and you really needed the money?

"We’ll enter a C-grade dungeon and so I need your help," Ruby said, "I don’t trust the other party so you’ll protect me and I protect you, how about it?"

Rem understood the reason why she was worried, a dungeon was a place where the authorities didn’t reach – nobody from the authorities were inside and anything the surviving party members said was the truth... with this, Raiders could rape, murder and loot their party members and nobody could say anything about it as long as the situation didn’t seem off.

"Sure," Rem replied and devoured the last piece of food from his order with a satisfied smile, his stomach was full and he was brimming with energy.

"Thanks a lot, Rem," Ruby said.

They stood outside the blue dungeon gate and Rem stared at the party they were raiding with.

’I can see why she doesn’t trust them,’ Rem thought while holding onto his shortsword. It was a party of five people, excluding them – four of them were Cavaliers and the last one was a fire magus.

They looked trustworthy but Rem could see into their souls, their souls gave them away – they had done some gruesome things and that was why she was feeling uneasy around them.

"Let’s go!" The Captain exclaimed as he pointed to the gate before marching through, Ruby’s eyes went to Rem and she smiled a bit.

’I feel safe,’ She thought.
