Chapter 92: The Local Bar

Rem yawned as he awakened, it was late in the evening and the bars in Orion were active and Rem felt the sudden urge to make an outing.

He felt his pockets for his money and sighed, he had silver coins but he didn’t want to spend them yet. Besides, he also had to sell some Magical stones to the Black market and make another haul – there were so many things to be done this night.

’While checking the corpse of the Sand golem, I absorbed it’s soul and got it’s skill,’ Rem thought while staring at the skill.

[You have gained Unique Skill: Sand Domination]

As he read the description, he understood what the skill did... Sand Domination allowed him to do something similar to what the Boss did in the dungeon, in exchange for life, he could use that life to create multiple sand monsters to assist him. Which was why the Boss had waited and killed the Cavalier first before summoning the monsters without cores.

It might look like the skill was useless but Rem knew otherwise, it was actually a very useful skill... To summon monsters from his monster army, Rem utilized magical energy and while he did have a lot of it, he didn’t have Infinite magic so sacrificing a soul to summon some Sand monsters was a good alternative for now. Per soul killed, you could summon about 20 weak monsters like Sandwolves. Sandwolves were of course the most logical decision as they consumed as little amount of energy from the soul as possible while vastly increasing their numbers and what made their kind a fierce opponent was their sheer numbers.

Rem stood up and quickly went to freshen up, after freshening up, he wore one of the clothes he recently bought which was a black coat and blue shorts. After wearing the cloak, Rem slid a mask onto his face and left the inn. The streets were more bustling during the night time as Adventurers chose to come to the bars and enjoy themselves, it was also during night time that the Black market was more crowded, people spent more money during the night and the vendors made more money.

Rem decided that after having his dinner at the bar, he would head straight to the Black market with his disguise and sell a lot of his magical stones in exchange for silver coins.

"The amount of coins I have should be enough for a good meal with some tea," Rem said as he rubbed his black hair while pursing his lips, "I should try and treat myself to more next time,"

With that, Rem exited the inn and walked in the direction of the Local bar – he had dinner there a few times but it didn’t taste as good as what the bar in Reifall sold, it was a shame that the bar was already closed, Rem might have made a quick sprint there and purchased some of their goods.

Upon reaching the bar, Rem opened the door and a sweet scent wafted in the air. Rem’s tummy rumbled slightly and he realized he was much hungrier than he had expected.

In the bar, there were many loud people – Raiders, some of them talked about what happened today in their respective raids but Rem settled down at the corner and called for the waiter after reading through the menu on the vacant seat.

Over the time he had left the Mansion, due to the life and death situations he had constantly been exposed to, he did a lot of growing as well. Nobody would believe if he told them he was just 14 years old, he was far more taller and stronger than any 14-year old, his muscles were lean and powerful and his gaze was deadly.

"Give me some tea and biscuits," Rem told the waiter, "Add some bread to the side and fried potatoes as well with sauce,"

He wanted to treat himself to a well-deserved dinner, and that was what he did, soon his food was served and he began chugging down his tea quickly, he was hungry and for what he needed to do next – Rem needed all of his power. After drinking some tea, Rem bit into the biscuits and savored their sweet flavor.

"So you live around here?" Rem suddenly heard a familiar voice and looked up, there he saw Ruby, the grass Magus in her full glory although she was wearing casual clothes – she looked stunning.

"Yes," Rem replied to the question rather instantly, while focusing on his food and Ruby knew that it wouldn’t be easy.

"Can I sit down?" Ruby asked, looking at the chair opposite Rem and Rem nodded, his gaze never leaving his bread. Ruby nodded thankfully and took the seat.

She called the waiter as well and ordered some sake. Rem was still curious about Sake but he kept his curiosity to himself, there wasn’t much he could do in this situation, he was still underage and couldn’t taste it.

"So what are you doing here?" Ruby asked, trying to start conversation – She knew Rem liked to keep to himself and wasn’t much of a conversationalist.

’Is she trying to talk to me?’ Rem wondered as he continued eating, not many people did that but it would be rude if he didn’t return the question, after getting to know how people acted with others of similar status – he couldn’t help but be surprised.

"I felt hungry after the raid, so I came here to treat myself," Rem said, "But I’m a little bit disappointed, the food is not what I had expected,"

The food he had tasted back in Reifall was several times better than what he was tasting in Orion, it seemed that the Mayor had deployed better cooks there as a sales strategy, with the good food, Raiders would certainly want to eat there but once again, they made sure to close early so that Orion would still get it’s own sales.

’Smart,’ Rem thought as he observed the strategy... He had forgotten about the beauty in front of him.
