The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 90: A Drink (Part 2)
Upon entering the dining room, Mark and Tony sighted the Cavaliers – each of them seated and enjoying their lunches, Mark’s eyes widened.
’Their soul energy is powerful for their age,’ Mark thought, especially the blue-haired girl amongst them – she had the most amount of soul energy although he couldn’t understand why such a young girl had a tattoo.
The Apprentices sighted the Cavalier and bowed their heads to greet him, it wasn’t every day that they had visitors.
’That boy has no soul energy but that battle aura he is giving off, he’s much stronger than he seems,’ Mark thought, ’And not to mention the Beastkin too, she has awakened a skill – and it seems to be a very powerful one indeed, This year although Drew lacks quantity, he made up for it in quality,’
They could become very experienced Cavaliers under his legion, and go to the Cavalier institution as well with their experience – claiming top spots. Drew beckoned Mark to take a seat and ruffled Tony’s hair.
"Been a while, you sure have grown," Drew said and a crimson blush painted the boy’s cheeks... He missed his mentor.
Mark soon took a seat and glanced at Instructor Maybel who stood in a corner, beside her was Instructor Maria – they knew he was here for something important.
Drew took a seat as well and looked at Mark.
"You came here for a reason, right?" Drew asked while pouring himself a cup of water.
"Yes," Mark said and looked around, "You produced very powerful Apprentices but none of them can compare to Rem,"
Drew nearly choked on the cup of water he was drinking but his composure returned.
"Rem finished a raid with us today in Reifall and I was clearly surprised, he’s far much stronger than I expected," Mark said.
"We have been looking for him," Drew said, "We gave everybody a month as a holiday yet the Month hasn’t elapsed yet, I didn’t know he’d be in Reifall,"
Important buildings had been constructed in Reifall, it had taken quite a while but Orion had made sufficient earnings through Dungeon Raiding in Reifall town and with the money generated, The Mayor constructed a new GUILD and a bar as well for Dungeon Raiders to refresh themselves, the rest of the place was desolate and filled with Dungeon portals, a lot of Raiders were still around there and some even camped to show how serious they were about raiding dungeons... it was only a matter of time before they could build a Hotel for the Raiders to stay.
As of now, Reifall was generating quite a lot of earnings although along the line, the Mayor would decide to make it a residential area... all of this was possible because of the former Mayor of Reifall, he had specifically made sure his will gave the blossoming town of Reifall to Orion if him or any of his successors die.
Mika’s eyes widened in surprise – Rem was in Reifall, the destroyed hometown of Cole? The Dungeon grounds?
"And we took him on a raid yesterday," Mark said while taking in a deep breath.
"Was he injured?" Drew asked, clearly concerned for Rem’s safety but Mark turned to Tony, the boy clearing his throat.
"It was quite far from that," Tony said, "Rem wasn’t even injured once during the C-grade dungeon expedition, in fact, it was quite the opposite, he dealt with many monsters at relative ease and released explosive speed that we thought was incapable of an Apprentice at his level,"
"He made an even superior contribution by slashing the eyes of the Boss," Tony said, "Even put under amazing speed, Rem executed his job flawlessly and perfectly,"
Drew breathed a sigh of relief but then his eyes widened.
"A C-grade?" Drew asked, "Why would you all throw an Apprentice into that?"
"I wanted to know if he was as good and talented as Tony over here," Mark spoke up, "And Rem certainly defied every single one of my expectations, he has a very promising future as a Cavalier in the future so I want him on my squad, just like the way you gave me Tony over here,"
Before Drew could say anything, The Blue-haired girl spoke up – her azure eyes shining with indignation.
"Rem isn’t going anywhere with you," Mika said, spitefully... she couldn’t contain her anger.
Drew prostrated for her to sit down and that she did, she was embarrassed but still fuming nonetheless.
"Like one of my Apprentices said, Rem isn’t going anywhere with you," Drew said, "I had already made my decision when I first got him to come here,"
"How much?" Mark asked, slamming ten gold coins on the table, "How much do you want to take for him?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Maybel gritted her teeth, she didn’t want to part with Rem but she didn’t have any say in this.
"Your methods are underhanded, Mark," Drew said, his body unmoving but a grin spreading across his cheeks, "Why don’t we call the boy over, to decide?"
Despite the smile on his face, he knew Rem – Rem was always going to pick the option that gave him the most benefit, he was just that kind of and if Mark started spitting benefits to Rem, benefits better than what he was enjoying here, Rem would join Mark’s party.
It was due to those enticements that he lost his top Apprentice of last year... Drew didn’t want Rem to join Mark’s party.
Mark stood up and sighed.
"Give me thirty minutes and I’ll make a quick dash to the bar," Mark said, "Also congratulations on your advancement to C-grade,"
With that, Mark vanished into thin air – his figure vanished and the tension in the air eased. Then it was Maybel who brought up the question.
"Can you tell us exactly what happened in the C-grade dungeon?" Maybel asked Tony, "All of us are very curious as to how Rem fared in the dungeon,"
Tony nodded.
"It began like..."
#####
Rem hadn’t been in Reifall for a long while so he wasn’t really aware that not only had a GUILD been constructed but a bar had been as well, the road filled with desolate houses didn’t feel so desolate anymore... Life was slowly blooming within the dead town.
Rem could still remember when he faced Andar, he had gained something very important and stored them in his inventory... the items would come in handy later, when he needed a power boost quickly.
"So this is it, huh?" Rem muttered as he observed the huge building known as the bar, it was surrounded by empty and destroyed buildings but it still gave a warm feeling – music wafted in the air and the scents of various foods entered his nose, Rem felt in his pocket and found the money he had earned from raiding the dungeon... it would be enough to have a peaceful time at this place.
"Everything is on me," The Redhead Cavalier said, noticing Rem’s motions, "You can buy anything you want here as thanks for helping me out in the dungeon,"
Rem nodded and let go of his pockets – he needed to save these bronze coins, they would do good for dinner later.
’Maybe some bread or even soup,’ Rem thought, they all sounded like good options but Rem would need to wait till he was in the inn at Orion later to decide.
They entered the Café and began enjoying themselves, Rem didn’t believe it to be possible but he actually liked what he experienced at the Café very much – Rem had ordered a cup of tea and he didn’t dislike the taste, it was the opposite even, the tea tasted very sweet and hot too.
"How’s the tea?" Ruby asked and Rem shrugged.
"It’s really good," Rem replied nonchalantly, he really lacked proper people skills – he couldn’t even express himself properly here...
Ruby chuckled.
"Cute," She said and then took a sip of her Sake, "When you reach the age of an Adult, you can drink Sake – I can assure you, it’s much more better than the tea here,"
Rem’s eyes shone, something even more sweeter than the tea? Ruby surely had to be joking.
"Can I have a sip?" Rem asked politely, he needed to be polite to get what he wanted and he knew it...
Ruby laughed.
"If I gave you a sip then I would be put in jail for giving a minor alcohol," Ruby said while giving a glance at Henry who was chugging down cups upon cups of Sake with ease, "You might end up being an addict like him,"
The Healer was underage as well and enjoying her orange juice alongside a slice of bread... everything was going well until Mark showed up at the Café.
