The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 82: Regret
Arya quickened her movements, her chest rapidly rising and falling with each passing moment – she was scared... Walter had always been a pillar for her to lean back on, he had always been a pillar that was there for her when she needed him, whether it was on advice or even friendly banter, he always seemed to have a comeback for everything.
The rain had begun... descending and pounding against the ground heavily, but despite being soaked by the rain, Arya didn’t deter or hesitate for one moment. She kept running as fast as her legs could take her, occasionally leaping forth with bursts of white flames which helped her close the distance easier.
Arya looked at Walter’s fallen body, his face down to the ground and the ground coated in a pool of blood which had been drenched by the rain... The channeler walked slowly toward Walter, her eyes showing a lot of emotions but her lips silent, unable to express the emotions surging through Arya. Arya turned Walter’s face around, it had lost all bits of warmth and now it was cold... it felt really cold in her hands... Walter’s warm face felt cold... his gaze was lifeless – it took Arya some time to come to terms with it, that her fellow Captain, that her friend was dead and when she did...
"Ahhhhh!!!!!"
Her voice echoed as she clutched Walter’s shirt tightly, white flames burst into bloom around her figure and her eyes grew bloodshot.... The flames rapidly shot into the sky, even at a distance, Rem could see the white holy flames of the Channeler captain, they razed even the buildings around Arya, that was how powerful these flames were but it was a waste of magic, nothing she did would bring Walter back. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Arya vividly remembered the cloaked man, she was sure that it was that person that killed Walter.
’But it’s impossible,’ Arya thought as the flames vanished, she had been so lost in her thoughts and fury that Walter’s body had been burned a bit...
’He hadn’t been that strong, nobody can gain the power to face a peak B-grade within a week,’ Arya thought, but there was another strange irregularity... she couldn’t sense his soul, it usually took a day for a soul to die down but Walter had been killed minutes ago and his soul wasn’t present.
’So It was him,’ Arya thought, they had been looking at this in a different way – the dungeons hadn’t been raided by a team but rather a single short dwarf of a man, Arya clenched her teeth – if only they had realized this sooner, they would have reported this to the authorities in Orion and the mayor as well but it was already too late.
Arya was a Channeler magus, she couldn’t sense Soul energy and the cloaked man had been wise enough to kill anyone that would implicate him later – which was why he left the Water Magus and the Healer before, they didn’t know the composition of his soul energy.
’And the only other person that knew of his soul energy is dead,’ Arya thought while looking down at Walter, tears running down her cheeks.
"Please if there is a god up there... I want to kill that man," Arya said, the storm intensifying, "I want to kill the man that killed my friend – I want him dead, I hate him, I hate him, I hate him!"
Arya looked up and some pellets of rain landed in her eyes but she didn’t care, she kept on pleading, pleading to be the one that would kill the man that killed her friend – with her own hands.

A week later, Arya had officially been taken off the mission by the Mayor – the death of Walter hit the city’s forces too, he was nearing the peak of B-grade so of course he was valuable.
After that, a bounty was quickly placed on the cloaked man’s head – 100 Silver coins, this riled up the Adventurers as well and they began actively searching for the man in the cloak in Orion and Reifall.
’Seems like I became a criminal in the eyes of the city,’ Rem thought as he walked in Reifall without his disguise, he had taken up a job there and actually entered as an Apprentice instead of a Bag carrier – it entitled him to a greater amount of pay and a chance to even partially sell his stones in the GUILD but Rem had a problem with entering as an Apprentice.
He learned that the GUILD held account for every single adventurer that stepped foot in the dungeon and how much Magical stones they got so it was impossible to sell any one to the Black market because at least one person in the whole group would be paid by the GUILD to keep track of the orbs that each team member got – it’s the way it has always been and that meant if Rem wanted any spoils to himself, he had to find out the snitcher and evade him or her while collecting other stones.
Staring at his party, Rem wondered which one it would be...
"Don’t worry boy, you can stand behind me, I’ll protect you from any monster," A crimson haired man said and flexed his muscles at Rem, he wasn’t bulky but his muscles sure were something to beware of.
A magus poked his head with her wand.
"Take it down a notch, you’re scaring him," She said, from what Rem could see, she was a Magus with the grass affinity and they were quite formidable opponents, not as formidable as fire magus but still, something to be wary of.
There was a girl Rem’s age, leaning against the wall and staring up at the sky – her body covered in a black cloak but one could see her blond curls, Rem sighed... while the month elapsed, this was the team that he was going to be raiding with.
If anything happened to them and he was the only one that came out the dungeon, a lot of suspicion would be drawn to his name since it already happened once before – and maybe they might start the investigation of the Masked man with him being the prime suspect, this was something Rem didn’t want in the least.
"So what are your abilities? I heard you came from Drew’s mansion," Rem heard a deep voice say and he turned to the owner... his eyes flickered as an intense amount of soul energy came into his view.
