The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 79: Masked Fighter
Over the past week, Rem had not only been training for this confrontation but he had also honed his soul energy for this... right now he was exuding the full force of all the integrated souls combined, and it was actually able to fight back against Walter’s soul energy although those were not the results he wanted – Rem raised his arms into a combat stance.
’Have to get into the perfect position to utilize the Soul sickle,’ Rem thought, ’If I bring out my advantage at the beginning – It’ll be suicidal,’
He was on a similar playing field with Walter, any advantages they revealed to each other during this exchange would be crucial to the other party, every secret they revealed during this battle was going to the grave, it was a battle to the death after all.
Rem inched his foot forward and soul energy, green as the grass burst to life around his fists and the Apprentice propelled himself forward to Walker, throwing a spin kick with dept accuracy.
Walter raised his right fist up and blocked Rem’s spin kick.
’Despite enforcing his fists with soul energy, he struck with his foot?’ Walker thought while gritting his teeth, Rem descended with a speed that he could barely follow and tried to punch him in the chest but the keyword was tried, Walter blocked the strike again by hitting Rem’s fist down to the roof below.
’He’s not choosing to reveal his skill in the sword,’ Rem thought as he quickly leapt backward and analyzed the situation, ’Is it that he doesn’t consider me enough of a challenge?’
Walter smiled but Rem didn’t move, instead he used a Full Body Enforcement, strengthening his body with soul energy. After that, Rem sprinted forward again, closing the distance between himself and Walter again before throwing a punch with his right fist which was clad in soul energy at the man’s face, Walter easily blocked the punch.
’Despite the similarities, I still can’t get a clean hit in – what’s the difference?’ Rem thought as Walter threw his own fist and it broke through all of his defenses, sending him shooting off the rooftop and crashing into a building as a result... the building shattered upon impact and Rem lay on the ground of the structure, several wounds adorning his body but they quickly healed up due to his regeneration.
He stared blankly at the ceiling, a monstrous steam emanating from each wound – Rem pulled himself up and clenched his fists.
’He’s nothing,’ Rem thought as he stared at the wall where he was punched through, Walter stood there, staring at him.
"You’re all bark and no bite," Walter said only to get punched across his face, the force behind the punch was so strong that he was sent flying into and through the original building they were standing on.
Walter’s back landed on the pavement and he coughed out a bit of blood – the murderous intent escaping from Rem’s body was even stronger now, it was almost tangible... no Walter could feel it permeating in the air before him, he felt like he could touch it too, that was how tangible Rem’s murderous intent felt.
Walter quickly stood up and drew out his sword, a brilliant white aura of soul energy bursting to life around the blade – Rem hopped out of the hole in the wall and leapt toward Walter, his eyes were locked onto the man.
Walter knew allowing Rem to get in close combat with him was a wrong decision so he focused energy into his blade and thrust it forward.
"Wind Blade!"
Walter thrusted his blade forward, a huge billowing gust of wind rushed forth and slammed through the building that Rem stood on, it was destroyed shortly after only for Rem to be seen landing on another one.
"Wind Blade!"
"Wind Blade!"
"Wind Blade!"
Walter couldn’t count how many times he had shouted out the skill but he knew that Rem had weaved through all of his strikes with relative ease, Walter pursed his lips, he drew upon a great amount of soul energy to deliver every wind blade strike and now he could feel his body trembling a bit, he had wasted valuable energy and the person he was trying to kill was still alive.
Rem leapt off a building and landed not too far away from Walter, soul energy wrapped around his fists as he propelled off the ground and closed the distance between himself and Walter – Walter’s breathing turned haggard, with each passing moment Rem neared him, the murderous intent grew stronger... it became more and more tangible.
Walter locked eyes with the eyes on Rem’s mask and soul energy glistened around his blade, he prepared to use yet another skill but Rem was not going to let him, Rem was right in front of him which prompted Walter to swing his sword forward, aiming for the Apprentice’s neck but that was what Rem was planning, he leaned his body back and dodged the strike before landing a clean punch on Walter’s chestplate.
What ensued was a brilliant spark of black, reality seemed to crumble around both fighters as Rem landed a convergence – an excellent strike of black lightning pushed Walter sent Walter skidding backward as reality was once again rebuilt in it’s former glory, an increased amount of soul energy pumped through Rem’s veins although it came at a price – exhaustion.
But Rem had long since learned to fight the Exhaustion, he didn’t get exhausted easily so Exhaustion was nothing to him... Rem took another step forward and reared his fist backward, entering his combat stance yet again.
Walter came to a skidding stop and looked at the chestplate of his armor, it had been caved in – blood rolled down his nose and he sighed.
’If I hadn’t used Soul enforcement, I would have suffered far greater injuries,’ Walter thought, that was how strong this masked man was, capable of making even a B-rank succumb to his power but the battle was far from over, it hadn’t even begun yet.
Walter gripped his sword with both palms, circulating soul energy into the Magic Steel and entering a combat stance.
And the battle continues.
