The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 78: A Slimy Escape
Walter searched and searched but he couldn’t pick up Rem’s presence nor could he see Rem? It seemed that the boy had just vanished.
"Maybe he ran back to the entrance," Walter said as he sprung off the ground, a small shockwave spreading around as he jumped on the buildings heading back to Arya.
Rem emerged from a building, his body having been turned into a green blob of slime... his clothes had been tucked into his inventory.
’Right as I jumped off the building and out of his sight, even a split second was enough,’ Rem thought as he quickly remembered what had happened minutes ago – as soon as he got off the roof and the Cavalier’s sight, he quickly turned into a slime, morphing his entire shape into the same oozing blob that he despised... his clothes fell but he quickly pulled them into his inventory and extended an appendage toward the window, propelling himself inside in a nick of time as Walter descended and searched around for him.
’I never knew the slime body would be so helpful,’ Rem thought in surprise, by turning his body into a slime – he had narrowly avoided death, ’Though I didn’t expect them to be that strong, that shows that they’re B rank and nearing the peak of B-rank,’
The Cavalier Captain, Walter had wrecked an entire building with only his sword – even Rem couldn’t do that yet and if not for his partial regeneration, the wisps of flames that the Channeler had thrown at him would still be lethally effective till now... even though they weren’t powerful at once, they were quite deadly.
Rem contemplated on his chances of surviving if he smuggled himself out of the town as a slime and then he looked back at the residue created by moving in his slime form, it was rapidly drying up.
"That’s good," Rem muttered to himself as he began hopping toward the end in a steady pace, determined to leave as little residue as possible behind to dry up easily although he had to expend quite a bit of magical energy to keep himself in this form – it was nothing compared to the amount it took to summon and retain a monster army.

"The person vanished?" Arya asked for the umpteenth time as soon as they arrived at the place where Rem last fell, "And you didn’t give chase? How do you expect us to find him?"
Walter was just as surprised as Arya, he didn’t even know if it was possible.
"As he jumped up, his presence just vanished," Walter said, "Like he never existed and then I searched around, I still couldn’t find him,"
Arya jumped off where Rem had jumped and landed on the ground.
"You’re sure he wasn’t giving off any Soul energy?" Arya asked as she opened the doors of the house and peeked inside, there wasn’t anything strange but what was strange was that their assailant had vanished without any trace, and even then, his soul energy signature was so vague that it was incomprehensible, they couldn’t match it with the others.
"Yes," Walter said, "I know it’s a he because of the way the person was running but I didn’t expect it to be a kid,"
"That’s not a kid," Arya said, "You see that quick thinking and proper use of Soul energy, not even our talented apprentices back in Orion would be able to do something like that, I believe it’s an experienced Cavalier – maybe one of those fake graders but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a short man although I’m still sure that it’s a team, they probably thought that they should send one of their weaker members since it’s a dungeon that already had people inside,"
Walter nodded.
"When we saw only those two come out with fearful gazes, we were sure something scared them," Walter said, "And then he came out, but I wonder where the stuff he stole was?"
Arya pursed her lips. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Maybe he was using a Storage ring," Arya said, "But why are we talking about that? Where could he be?"
Walter sensed a flicker of soul energy standing just outside the town and gritted his teeth.
"We missed him," He muttered as the signature vanished once again – Walter clenched his fist, "He’s left the town,"
Arya groaned in annoyance, this had to stop... she was getting tired of the guessing games, it was giving her a headache, the whole situation was giving her a headache.
"Should we report this matter to the Mayor?" Walter asked but Arya shook her head.
"He entrusted us with this mission and you want to report failure? " Arya asked, "He gave us this mission because he trusted that we would see it through, Walter, there are more than fifty captains in Orion and we were chosen for the job – aren’t you happy? Do you want to report failure and reduce his morale?"
"We shall capture the people responsible for the reduced earnings Orion town Is making," Walter said, "And make them pay,"
Arya nodded and smiled at the Cavalier captain – their goal had been decided and they would achieve it.

Nobody came several days after that, and both Captains had been on high alert, watching every movement but the masked man never came back. The earnings from the dungeons flowed well and there were no more problems or unnecessary deaths in the dungeon – there were bound to be deaths in the dungeon but unnecessary deaths were situations where the deaths were caused by other humans... they didn’t happen and Arya was glad about it.
And it seemed today was going to be a good day, the construction of the GUILD was going great and there was absolutely nothing that could hinder the progress they were making now, Arya was entirely confident that the party had long since dispersed, it had been a week and some days already...
"Maybe we can finally let our guards down and rest," Arya said while walking into a white dungeon, she still had to generate some earnings herself sometimes and besides it was a better way to make her calm down... On a rooftop far away from all of the dungeons, Rem stood clad in black clothing and a black mask over his face and hair stood opposite Walter who grabbed the hilt of his sword tightly.
"You want to fight eh?" Walter asked, soul energy permeating from the man’s body, the house rumbled beneath him but Rem didn’t falter, instead his own soul energy burst out of his body and Walter’s gaze shook for a moment.
’His presence... it rivals mine?’ Walter thought.
