The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 76: Terrors Of The Dungeon
The corpses of Death wolves that they had faced prior were brought by the Magus and the Cavalier – they hadn’t seen Rem who had concealed his presence within the shadows of the pillar, after they packed the corpses up, the Blond cavalier used his sword skills to peel off their fur and cut them into huge chunks of meat...
While the Blond cavalier did the work, the brown Cavalier told jokes and eased up the tension that everyone had – despite him being stupid, Rem had to agree that he was at least a good comedian and helped ease the tension of the people.
"We need a fire," The Blond cavalier muttered lowly, the dungeon was growing colder and although Rem didn’t have a problem with the cold – the other people seemed to shiver at the sudden coldness.
There were ways to make fire within a dungeon utilizing the materials within the dungeon or you could simply bring a fire magus, these Adventurers although didn’t have the comfort to do something like that – they could barely hire a healer.
The Blond cavalier made a place for fire using the dry sticks which lay around in the dungeon formation and struck rocks against each other in an attempt to create fire, Rem sighed.
After some time, a spark fell on the sticks and a roaring flame engulfed them bringing a smile to the Cavalier’s face, he had already washed the meat with some water and placed them in a pan.
"Mira, the oil," He said to the Magus who nodded and reached into her pouch, bringing out a bottle of oil... Oil was a very important and expensive commodity in Orion as well as other places of the world so they wouldn’t place it in the sack where other things were kept.
Mira quickly handed him the oil and he began pouring it onto the meat while pulling out a bit of seasoning.
"Not only will we get food to eat from this," The Blond cavalier said, "But we will also attract any other Death wolf that takes a whiff, the seasoning is a powerful one,"
Rem thought it was stupid to cook in a dungeon, especially since monsters pried at every corner and threatened your existence but cooking to lure in more monsters was actually a decent idea, well that was if you had the sufficient strength and teamwork to pull through.
Rem could only watch from the pillar as the meat soon began frying, the crispy sounds of it getting done echoed through the air and the Apprentice had to agree – the seasoning was a good one, it wafted around the room. Rem held himself in place, although the food was salivating and attracting – he refused to fall victim to the trap.
The Magus darted to one of the pillars while everyone got prepared, Rem could sense it – a monster was heading this way, out of all of the party members, the Blond Cavalier did not move, instead he was focused on the task of frying his Wolf meat... he had surrendered his life to the hands of his comrades.
A Death Wolf lingered into the room, baring it’s fangs at the Blond Cavalier who didn’t move, instead the Cavalier kept staring at the meat with his blue eyes. The Wolf prepared to spring forward but the Magus was faster, water soared through the air and bounded the hind feet of the Monster causing it to fall face-first to the ground.
The Brown Cavalier made a quick sprint forward, brandishing his blade. The little rest had ensured that he recuperated a good amount of soul energy, the Cavalier gripped his blade and slashed it forward with soul energy laced in the strike – he decapitated the wolf in one swing.
’I see, that’s their plan,’ Rem thought as he witnessed the group take out more and more monsters with their cheap tricks – of course cheap tricks didn’t matter in the dungeon where it was survival of the fittest, as they killed the monsters and harvested the cores, Rem absorbed the souls of these monsters and soon the meat was done, the oil was not discarded though, it was poured into another container that could withstand it’s boiling heat.
The party enjoyed a hearty meal with water made by their magus, there were smiles on their faces and the Brown haired Cavalier even popped up a few jokes sometimes but all good things... they came to an end...
#####
The Boss room was decorated with blood, A large Hellhound – a beast decorated with black fur and treacherous fangs chewed upon the Brown haired Cavalier’s corpse while staring blankly at the remaining three adventurers, The healer, the Blond cavalier and the Magus.
"Mark!" Mira shouted out and the Hellhound swallowed the corpse with relative ease, it had a mocking look in it’s eyes as it stared down the Adventurers and growled lowly, terror was visible in the girl’s eyes as her legs bucked underneath her.
"Mira, I need you to cast an offensive spell now!" The Blond Cavalier cried out, rushing toward the Hellhound with bloodshot eyes.
The voice of the Blond Cavalier was muffled in Mira’s ears, her cries were evident... The Healer bit his lips and focused his eyes on the Blond Cavalier.
"Mira, you better get up and assist him," The Healer said boldly, his eyes flashing in a terrific aura... Mira turned to face him, throughout the journey, he had always been on bad terms with Mark but now, he was crying...
Mira got up and stared at the Hellhound, fighting with the Blond Cavalier who was defending himself valiantly... rage flashed in her eyes and she pointed her arms to the Hellhound, waves of water engulfing her very figure.
"Mark... Steven... I’ll fucking kill this thing!" She proclaimed as multiple orbs of water shot forward, heading right for the Hellhound but the Hellhound leapt backward and weaved through the orbs with relative ease much to Mira’s surprise and annoyance.
The Blond Cavalier leapt upward, heading right for the head of the Beast – his eyes glowing with determination and his sword enveloped with brilliant black sparks of lightning. His eyes were focused and the sparks of lightning grew more controlled, The Cavalier brought his sword forward and slashed at the head of the Wolf...
"Convergence!"
The slash amplified by the black sparks of lightning cut through the Hellhound’s head and the monster slumped on the ground, kicking up dust – it had been defeated.
"Don’t take another step forward," A deep dark voice suddenly said, causing the man to turn around and see that Mira and the Healer were at the ends of two blades, each one glistening with terrifying soul energy...
Rem had decided to strike.
