The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 73: Holy Flame
Rem quickly moved away from Reifall town, his feet moving in a flurry as he evaded the Cavaliers with a quick jump onto the nearby building, concealing the noise of his fall by applying a miniscule amount of magical energy around his feet.
The apprentice knew that there was no use in lounging around anymore, they would have already known of his plan by now.
’She’s probably focusing every bit of her power on reading the next dungeon gate I’m going to raid,’ Rem thought as he landed on the outskirts of Reifall town, ’But unfortunately for her, I’m not going to raid any other dungeon today or even tomorrow, if I don’t raid anything today, she’ll surely have her guard up tomorrow and the day after that, the next time I come, I’ll strike unexpectedly,’
Rem had already decided to come back in about four days time, their guard would be lowered considerably and he would probably be able to clear another set of dungeons. Rem quickly began a sprint as he put more distance between himself and Reifall, he needed to get out of the vicinity efficiently without leaving any traces behind... which was why his feet were covered with slime, making his footsteps untraceable.
’I was able to get a total of 40 Magical stones,’ Rem thought as he leapt onto a tall tree with ease and continued moving, ’If I add them to the 25 I already have, that’ll make it 65 Magical stones and I’ll sell each one for about 1 silver, In just a few days, I’ve gotten enough money to live a comfortable life for months,’
With the currency of this world being divided into Copper, Bronze, Silver, and Gold... anybody who had about a thousand silver coins was considered a Noble which meant they were treated differently than the commoners by the society. Nobles were treated with respect while Commoners were looked down on, and a Noble had the most chances of entering an esteemed school, unlike Commoners – Rem wasn’t one of those people that blamed himself and hated on the Nobles, he didn’t wish to be like them but he didn’t wish to remain a Commoner as well... By raiding dungeons, Rem was sure that within a month, he would have enough silver coins to be considered a noble.
"The life of an Adventurer is actually really profitable," Rem muttered as he felt himself drawing nearer to Orion, he instantly descended from the trees and began to pull of his clothes, this was in case one of the Cavaliers had seen his clothing and saw him fleeing in the direction of Orion – he wouldn’t be discovered as he hadn’t been seen by any of the residents yet, "Well that is if you’re the only person getting the spoils,"
If you were an officially registered Adventurer, you had to pay a certain amount of your earnings in the dungeon as tax and then not to mention the prices were not as high as they were in the Black market – magic stones were exchanged with bronze and it only rose to Silver when the stone belonged to a C-grade monster or above and it had to be a highly graded one too... for now, Rem decided to go through the illegal route since it was the most profitable and he didn’t have to give any of his personal information.
Rem soon left the shade of the tree in his tracksuit and entered Orion town.

The day went by quickly and the Captain had been on guard all day while the bodies were continuing to fill the hole, she was a bit nervous after all, Two dungeon gates had closed up but that wasn’t the only surprising thing.
’The dungeons were raided and cleared easily,’ She thought, ’within a short time as well – it’s almost like the people clearing them was very experienced,’
But once again, she was forced to rethink if it was actually people that cleared it or a single person, no matter what she thought, it leaned toward a single person – it couldn’t be a party because the escapes were smooth, a part of her doubted that this person was even in Reifall.
’But they’ll probably come tomorrow,’ She thought, ’And then I can finally uncover their identity,’
Her plan was easy, borrow a bunch of Cavaliers and station them in front of every dungeon gate for protection.
’Whoever this person or these people are, humans are greedy by nature and once they sell the Magical stones in their possession, they’ll come back for more,’ The Captain finalized, ’And with that greed – we’ll capture them with relative ease and lock them up,’
There were distant sounds of a building crumbling, she looked over her shoulder and saw those two big buildings crumble and two dungeon gates being brought into view – their vibrant white colors visible by the workers who were tirelessly using their energy to ensure that these corpses were all gathered in one place.
"I think that’s the last of them," A Cavalier said as he dropped the last body into the hole, the Captain nodded thankfully and then took a step forward, magical energy surging around her entire figure – her cape billowed in the wind as arcs of light engulfed her body, she pointed her stretched palm at the hole.
"Thy Lord, bring your divine hand upon these bodies, wipe them away from the land which they once lived and let your judgement be swift," She muttered, more magical energy flowing around her body as the arcs of light became much more powerful, "Holy Flame!"
A beam of light rushed forth, landing in the pit where the bodies were stored and an intense heat suddenly engulfed the surroundings, her eyes had lit up in a pristine silver and her gaze was focused as the holy flame completely burned down the bodies – soon the flame vanished and the Captain’s knees bucked, she fell to the ground face-first.
’That’s my most powerful spell,’ She thought, having expelled nearly all of her magic to keep the flames going – the Cavaliers and Magus looked at the recuperating Captain with respect, the pit was still sizzling as remnants of the Holy flame roamed within, the bodies were not in the pit but rather they had been reduced to ashes.
"Alright clear out," The Cavalier captain said, "Tomorrow you can officially come here in squads to clear dungeons!"
His announcement brought a smile to everyone’s face as they immediately left in the direction of the exit, determined to come here the next day to start clearing dungeons. After the last person had left the area, the Cavalier captain lifted the Channeler captain up and smiled.
"You did a good job," He said and she nodded a bit as she stood back up and leaned against a nearby pillar of debris.
"Not good enough," She muttered, "Two dungeons disappeared from right under my nose and I couldn’t do anything about it,"
The Cavalier chuckled.
"That’s fine, at least we know that the people invading them isn’t here right now," He said, "Once they come tomorrow, we nab them – they won’t stand a chance, and then they’ll have to atone for their disobedience,"
The Channeler looked at the Cavalier chuckling with confidence.
’What if that is what they want us- no, humans are greedy, everyone knows that,’ She thought, ’If it was any other possession, I would trust a human to be logical but selling a magic stone illegally can amass a fortune for the seller, they will come back for more,’
’But what if they don’t?’
The people who raided these dungeons proved to be quite intelligent, what if they somehow didn’t come tomorrow? The guards that the Channeler captain was going to mount would prove pointless then, but there was also a chance that they would come again thinking that she wouldn’t mount any guard due to these doubts so the Captain made a quick decision.
"I’ll just mount less guards than I planned," She muttered under her breath, the sky was growing dark now and she was already getting tired, she turned to the Cavalier captain.
"Let’s call it a day although they might come while we leave," She said but the Cavalier shook his head.
"I doubt it, raiding a dungeon requires a lot of strength – I wouldn’t be surprised if they were sleeping now," The Cavalier said with a dismissive wave, "Besides since this is a dead location, more dungeon gates will appear overnight, nothing to worry about Arya,"
"Yeah," The Channeler said with a slight yawn, "I’m getting sleepy, maybe I’m overthinking a bit about the Dungeon breaches,"
"You always do Arya," He muttered under his breath.
