The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 71: Slimes
With this ability, Rem could actually heal himself from any sort of critical damage but of course to regenerate his slime hand – he had to focus large amounts of magical energy into regenerating the lost part even as he covered it in slime, so while the ability was insanely overpowered, even Rem couldn’t keep spamming it forever – there was a limit to the amount of magical energy he could dish out.
Rem stood still for a little while, regaining the magical energy he had lost quite quickly and then he dashed forward, focusing soul energy into his feet and making sure they were steadily planted into the ground. He didn’t want to slip and fall while dashing toward the boss, since the ground was slimy, Rem knew that the only kind of monsters that would be able to exist within this dungeon was a Slimeball so there was not much need for worrying, besides things would be vastly easier if the boss was just an oversized Slimeball but why then would the Dungeon be in the shade of a D-grade?
Rem got his answer as his instincts pounded in his head, urging him to move back and Rem followed through, leaning back and away from danger – a sudden dagger, enchanted with magical energy stabbed into the ground right in front of Rem but the Apprentice could see that the dagger was made out of slime itself.
’Things surely are crazy in this dungeon,’ Rem thought, he loathed the smell that wafted in the air but there was nothing he could do about it except endure and push through – his eyes locked with the monster that had thrown this at him, it was a slime in the shape of a human.
’Slimes can bend their shapes too,’ Rem thought, ’I already expected that but to bend it in the shape of a human, this one must have an exceptional amount of magic,’
Slimeballs had barely any magic which meant that they could only maintain their bodies as balls of slime since that didn’t cost any magic to maintain but changing shapes would cost a whole lot of magic, especially to maintain and besides this slime took on his appearance. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Maybe having only slimes in a dungeon isn’t such a good idea," Rem muttered as he flung his body forward, right at the slime who raised it’s arms up defensively... he could tell that this slime certainly had a bit of sapience and more magic and the name only seemed to verify his thoughts.
’Slimey, D-grade’
He hadn’t been the first person to ever face an intelligent slime and Rem doubted he would be the last person to do so, the Apprentice instantly sliced through the human-like slime figure, putting an end to it in an instant and in quick succession, he absorbed the Slimey. Slimeys were monsters similar to Slimeballs, they were known to the general public as the dangerous slime and it had a higher amount of magic reserves than the regular Slimeballs. After killing the Slimey, Rem quickly took hold of it’s magical stone and shoved it into the Inventory for later use – Slimeballs tend to not start developing their magic cores until magical energy is deposited within their body before they started producing cores and the cores of a Slimeball wouldn’t cost a lot.
Rem quickly took some more steps forward before bending his knees and erupting into a sprint with maximum power laced in each movement, the only situations that pulled him to a stop were the occasional meetings with Slimeballs and Slimeys but Rem put an end to them swiftly, he also took note that there were no different species of monsters existing in the dungeon but that was already understandable – even a Goblin wouldn’t be able to live it’s life submerged within slime.
"I came here to maximize my earnings not to play around with some slimes," Rem said as a huge wooden door suddenly entered his line of sight, his sprint hastened and he pulled himself through the door to reveal a huge ball of green slime just existing in the center of the room.
All of Rem’s spirits lowered as he whipped out the Heavenly crossbow, he would make quick work of the Boss. With six quick successions from his bow, the boss had exploded and stained the entire room with slime.
’I hope I don’t enter a dungeon like this anymore,’ Rem thought as he leaned over to pick up the magical stone, it was quite big but it didn’t change the fact that the System called it a Slimey.
Rem pointed it to the fact that there were few slime monsters in the dungeon, maybe all the Slimeys had just combined themselves into one huge slime... It was very possible. But Rem didn’t want to think about that any longer as the portal appeared and he slipped through it, finding himself in the outside world.
Of course Rem didn’t linger here any longer, he pointed his arm at a building and turned it into slime – shooting his arm forward and attaching it to the building before propelling himself through the air and climbing up the building with the help of another similar movement.
’Creating and expanding slime arms don’t use as much energy as regenerating them,’ Rem noted down as he quickly made his way out of the vicinity, it was only a matter of time before they were able to sense this one had vanished and then they would surely come here to investigate which gave Rem time to raid another dungeon which was on the further side of the city, a place far away from here.
’If I use my full speed, I should be there in about five,’ Rem thought as he turned into a blur of movement, navigating his way across the roofs of the smaller buildings with relative ease, he suppressed his soul energy and magical energy to the point once again – he didn’t want to be detected, this was one of the most crucial parts of his plan, even if they didn’t notice, it wouldn’t do any harm to be far away from this one.
The Channeler captain had sat down and channeled her magical energy around herself, some of the other Cavaliers watched her in awe as her body seemed to give off the epitome of calmness and stillness only for it to be disrupted by one thing.
"A dungeon," She said, her eyes shooting open with urgency, "A dungeon has been cleared,"
