Chapter 69: The Black Market

"Buy your Magic Iron Swords here!"

The sounds of various vendors showcasing their goods filled the air yet a single short figure, wearing a dark cloak which resembled the cloaks of Channeler Magus and a wolf mask walked through the Black Market unfazed by anything that was happening. In terms of size, Onio town was vastly larger than that of Orion but that didn’t change the fact that the Black Market over here was relatively safer – it was being watched by the guards and not many illegal or shady business could go on here, but what Rem was about to do was very shady... selling a bunch of Magical stones to the Black Market instead of the GUILD, it could draw a lot of eyes.

This was mainly the reason why he put some distance between himself and the entrance of the Black Market, surely there were also spies within the Black Market which would report to the guards but they didn’t matter once he started going even further to a place where the spies didn’t even venture into – the air here was thinner and Rem knew why, this was a zone in the Black market owned by the criminals and although the prices of things here was higher, people didn’t like coming here since there was a high chance that they would die. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Rem’s eyes fell on a counter with a relatively old man sitting there and staring into space, then he gripped the small paper bag in his hand.

’It’s a risk,’ Rem thought.

If he sold this – a fight could break out here and it would take quite some time before information would get to the guards and even more time for the guards to arrive... the only alternative would be fight.

Rem approached the man and dropped the bag on the table, the bag fell to the side and two magic stones quickly slid onto the table. The man’s eyes glittered with greed as he gulped.

"How many are there?" He asked.

Rem cleared his throat and spoke in a deeper darker tone – nobody needed to trace his voice.

"How much are you willing to buy one?" Rem asked, his voice darker and emotionless than ever.

The man flinched, he took hold of the magic stone and looked at Rem.

"Two silvers per stone, that’s as high as I can go," He said.

"Three," Rem said and the man gulped once again – the voice of the masked figure was just that threatening.

"Fine three," He said, "How many are there inside?"

"About 25," Rem said, "You can count them but I doubt they would make any difference,"

The man’s eyes widened in surprise, 25 magical stones?! It was a terrifyingly impressive haul.

’He must have stolen them,’ The vendor thought while counting the stones, when he was done, he handed over 50 silver coins to Rem which was the payment for 25 magical stones.

"Thanks for doing business with me, I await your next return," The man said and Rem raised an eyebrow, there wasn’t going to be a fight?

After pocketing his money, Rem left the Black market but the man’s words were still stuck in his mind.

’He wants more business, huh?’

Rem sprinted through the open fields, heading to the destroyed town known as Reifall – with every citizen in Reifall dead and Dungeon gates popping up at irregular intervals, it was the perfect place for Adventurers to make a lot of money from raiding Dungeons!

’I would have already arrived here,’ Rem thought as he covered even more distance in a matter of minutes, ’But I had to stick around in Orion for a while,’

The words of the vendor seemed suspicious and he stayed in dark alleyways with his disguise – he never got attacked and Rem truly believed that the man wanted to do more business.

’I didn’t sell all the Magic stones to him, there’s still about another 25 more left and I’ll sell them when I get back,’ Rem thought as he could finally see the town in the distance – he could see the buildings but he could barely sense any life in the town apart from a few strong presences but they were probably Cavaliers that had either come to supervise the corpse mission or still investigation on what may have killed the bodies.

While everyone was distracted, Rem planned on making his way into a dungeon and he was going right for a D-grade one, it’s white color would make it easy to discern and as long as it wasn’t one of the most powerful ones here, they wouldn’t take note of its disappearance. It took Rem a couple of minutes to reach the town and after he successfully entered, he could hear nothing.

’The Cavaliers are still far off,’ Rem thought as he stood in front of a tall building, soul energy gathered around his palms and extended forward like claws, he did the same for his feet and instantly began climbing the building – Rem reached the top of the tall building and used his eyes to scout each and every portal in the vicinity of the town.

"I see," Rem muttered, "There are a total of 10 D-rank dungeon gates and 8 C-rank, at least from what I can see,"

Rem had used his Lock-on skill to discern the colors from afar and he was genuinely surprised at the total of D-rank dungeons that had appeared in just one day.

’But it makes sense,’ Rem thought, ’In a place with no life, Dungeon gates are bound to be created even more which is why the Forest of Death has an abundance of them – it’s the perfect place for powerful Magus and Cavaliers to clear dungeons,’

As there was no more life in Reifall, dungeon gates had been formed and they would only continue to grow – if there were no Adventurers nearby, Several dungeon breaches would be made and they would all come in the direction of Orion which would result in a war and with their current forces being split apart by the monsters in the Forest Of Death, Rem really doubted Orion would be able to win a Dungeon breach of intense magnitude, S or no S-grade Cavalier.

His eyes locked onto a D-grade dungeon far in the left of the town, there were no life signatures near it and it was perfect for him.

’It’s time to grow even stronger,’ Rem thought.
