The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 65: You Can’t Escape
The Healing ability he had received from the diary had been very powerful, but he had a very serious reason for taking the diary in the first place – to accentuate his regeneration ability, he already had a high regeneration but if this ability was coupled with a Healing skill, Rem would surely be able to heal from very dangerous wounds with relative ease.
"This is going to be my first official spell," Rem muttered under his breath as he clenched his fist tightly, he clenched it so hard that blood slowly began to trail down but at a single thought, the wound that Rem created on his own palm was healed within an instant although it had cost quite a bit of magical energy, but he could afford to use it many more times.
"I should be going to the next town," Rem said while navigating his way through the darkness of the alley, he eventually found his way out and went to the outskirts.
#####
The moon was shining brightly in the sky as Andar’s rotting body vibrated, the damages being done to him reversing within an instant – the wound that was caused when the blade was immediately stabbed into his head was soon wrapped by steam.
Andar forced his aching body into a sitting situation as he let out a slight mutter.
"I was lucky," Andar muttered under his breath, "At the last moment before that boy could dream of hitting me with an attack, I quickly pushed my consciousness away from my brain,"
Naturally it made sense to be cautious about the brain, it was one of the most important parts of the human body, without the brain – the body wouldn’t be able to function, right before Cole was able to finish him off, he had spread his consciousness to all parts of his body apart from his head... by spreading it and avoiding damage, it still took quite a lot of time for the energy to reappear and his senses to return.
But now that Andar had returned, the first thing he wanted to do was to go to the town in the horizon and teach Cole a lesson but he had to gather his power first.
"Feeding on some lower humans should do the trick," Andar muttered under his breath, "That way I’ll be able to gain my lost –"
The sounds of foosteps echoing in the distance was annoying to Andar who was trying to scheme his plan in peace but they kept recurring, each foot echoing a sense of superiority and intense power. The Demon didn’t like that and clenched his fists waiting for the stranger to arrive.
Shortly after Rem walked into view, yawning a bit, it was already late into the night and it was usually by this time that he was fast asleep.
"Who are you?" Rem asked which depicted that he was clueless but once he witnessed the horns on the boy’s head, Andar felt the air around him change drastically, "You’re one of them, huh?"
That was all Rem managed to say, Andar of course was looking at the human with interest, not only did the human in front of him look interesting, he looked a lot like a regular human and that meant he was easy prey.
’Ah seems like today is my lucky day, I’ll build my strength up by feasting upon him,’ Andar thought while firing a beam of magic from his finger, aiming it right toward Rem’s head.
The Apprentice stared at the upcoming attack and swatted it away with relative ease, the beam quickly hit the ground and the ground rumbled. Andar’s eyes shot open with surprise.
’M- my attack didn’t hit?’ He thought with a gulp... ’No, he swatted it away like it was a fly,’
"So you want a fight?" Rem asked, his gaze still expressionless but his lips twisting into a taunting smile.
Andar gritted his teeth and focused magical energy into his fists, they made the air around his fists vibrate and then he flung himself at Rem. He was not at full power though, storing his consciousness throughout his body caused him to lose a great chunk of his Magical reserves but nothing he couldn’t gain back after consuming humans.
Andar finally closed the distance and swung his right fist forward, aiming for Rem’s chin. Rem immediately side-stepped the strike with ease. Andar had expected something like this and brought his other fist forward, throwing it directly at Rem’s stomach.
Rem coated his palm with soul energy and knocked the fist into the ground, with the vibrating force that the fist created, it was hard for Andar to pull his fist out of the ground and Rem was already untop of him, throwing several punches toward his face, Rem was enjoying the confrontation, at the end of this, he would get another Demon Shapeshifter.
Before the punches could reach Andar, Rem felt his body being propelled backward by a forceful gust, Rem was shot about five meters away before he stabilized himself on the ground.
’Hmm, wind abilities,’ Rem thought, ’that would do a lot in my arsenal,’
Rem wasn’t going serious in this fight since he was observing his opponent as well as making notes of all the shortcomings since the boy had horns, similar to Tobi. But although he wasn’t serious, he avoided attacks which were bound to deal a lot of damage to him – like the Vibrating fists, they didn’t look like much but were capable of rattling his insides, it was a certified application of the wind ability and Rem was going to use it to it’s full capability, after gaining the ability of course but it wouldn’t be hard to kill this boy.
Rem raised his right palm up and the sickle suddenly bloomed to life, Andar trembled under Rem’s intense gaze as his eyes began glowing.
"What is happening?" Andar asked, unable to say anything... he couldn’t believe it, he was actually trembling.
Of course the sickle wasn’t going to be his only worry, Rem’s other hand lit up and a crossbow took position – Rem hadn’t used it in a while and felt like sharpening his bow skills and what better way to do that than the target practice which lay in front of him.
Rem gathered soul energy within the Heavenly crossbow and watched an arrow slowly but surely being created, the Apprentice sprinted toward Andar and shot three arrows at him – each arrow was packed to the brim with concentrated soul energy and they were very dangerous as a result.
"I can’t win," Andar realized, the power of this human was far much more than he had expected and he couldn’t win. He spared a glance at the right and saw multiple large buildings, he could use the arrows to create a cloud of smoke and then escape.
Andar pointed his palm at the arrows and a gust of wind pushed them from behind, their speed was instantly boosted and they quickly descended unto him, as the arrows made contact with the ground, dust pervaded the area.
Rem widened his eyes, the demon had used the arrows to slip away which slightly surprised him but even then, he had expected something like this to happen which was why he was one step ahead in this regard.
’To those big buildings over there,’ Rem thought. Andar would surely try to run ahead to those big buildings and then hide in alleys to escape from Rem, Rem was completely sure that Andar was just looking to lose him and escape from the destroyed town so he had to be careful when advancing into the wreckage.
