The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 63: Manuel
The warm energy washed over Rem’s body as all of his wounds began healing at a visibly fast rate, Rem was calm through the entire process – his uneven breathing turning even in an instant, both Magus smiled as the healing aura vanished, his body had been patched up and he stared ahead. Rem’s eyes flickered open and they gave him a look of concern.
"Are you feeling alright?" The Male magus asked, there was a Male and female Healing magus – both standing next to him with smiles on their faces.
"Yes," Rem said while staring at his palm, he clenched it the next moment, "Surprisingly all my wounds are healed and they aren’t hurting me anymore, did you heal me?"
"We did," The Female Magus said, "Can you remember what happened in the dungeon?"
Rem’s expression froze, his eyes going wide with horror as he gripped his head and grunted... noticing his reaction, both healing Magus knew that they had touched a sensitive topic.
"If you don’t want to say it... you can stop," The Female magus suggested, Rem’s arms dropped.
"They were facing against the Boss, it was a big black wolf," Rem said, "All the Cavaliers and the flame Magus had gone on a rush against the Boss and I had dropped the baggage, with my sword skills, I was assisting them against the lesser monsters,"
"Everything was going according to the plan we had devised before entering the Boss room only for the Boss to kill a Cavalier with a slash, More monsters kept pouring into the room and I was unable to hold them back, my blade shattered and they quickly overwhelmed us," Rem said, his eyes growing teary, "But the Magus utilized a spell, he called it the Flame Meteor and it was able to kill the Boss as well as the monsters but he died soon after,"
"With my wounds, I staggered out of the dungeon without the baggage, my strength wouldn’t have been able to support it," Rem said.
Silence ensued in the room as they contemplated Rem’s words, it wasn’t new – things like that happened all the time in the Dungeon but the Boss surely sounded like a Hellhound!
’He’s lucky he was able to survive,’ The Male Magus thought with a bit of respect.
He stood up and gave Rem a small smile while touching his forehead.
"Get well soon, We’ll go tell the others," He said while both Magus left the room, Rem didn’t move... a presence was still in the room, lingering from the shadows and gazing upon him.
It had been a good act, he was able to fool the Magus into believing what they saw since the wounds they treated and the situation Rem related to each other. But he felt that this act wasn’t able to fool the presence, Rem turned his head to the right and he gazed upon a black haired handsome man wearing a suit, his hair fluttered in the wind and his deep purple eyes locked with Rem’s gray ones, they looked lifeless.
"So that’s what happened, huh?" The Detective said and Rem nodded slowly, the man looked so different – his soul felt different as well, his Soul Hunter instincts weren’t telling him to try and take this one even though it felt powerful.
"Do you know you were traveling with a C-ranked Magus?" He asked, his eyes never left Rem’s, "And not just any Magus, he’s an important one too so don’t think as the only survivor, you’ll be let off the hook so easily,"
’Important?’ Rem thought, wrinkling his brows in confusion.
"His older brother is an S-ranked Magus," The man said, "And he is apparently part of the board of directors in the Magus Academy, even with this believable story, someone from the Board of directors will not believe it,"
The man then shrugged.
"As you and I know, powerful figures hunt down lower figures," He said, "So even as you’re innocent, once this news reaches his ears, you can start counting down, because there would be nobody willing to fight against an S-rank Magus because of a kid,"
’I can’t believe I suspected him of being the perpetrator – he’s far too weak for that,’ He thought in annoyance, ’Guess I’ve hit a dead-end in this investigation,’
"Well it was nice seeing you," He said.
Then Rem spoke – his voice as monotone and emotionless as ever.
"What’s your name?" Rem asked.
’If I had that kind of tone, my interrogations would go fluently,’ The man thought while gritting his teeth, ’Is this really a kid?’
"It’s Manuel," He replied while his figure became wrapped in shadows, "I look forward to what you’re going to do from now on, Rem,"
The man vanished and Rem let out a sigh – he had already suspected that the Magus belonged to some sort of important family, his fire was way too honed and his skills in combat were really high but being targeted by someone from the Council of a school that he planned on joining later on but he didn’t feel afraid after calming down, someone of such high stature wouldn’t bother of disposing him directly which meant sending henchmen after him over and over again and thus that meant more souls being harvested, this was an advantage to him in a way.
Rem lay back against the bed and stared at the air, his gaze fixated on the ceiling.
’I’ll soon leave,’ Rem thought.
#####
Cole arrived at the mansion; the guards pulled open the gates for him with surprised expressions.
"Cole, you know you’re not supposed to bring another person here," A guard said, Cole nodded.
"The circumstances are different," Cole said, "I’ll get permission from one of the Instructors and if they don’t agree, I’ll carry her out,"
Cole knew the laws the mansion abided by, nobody other than an Apprentice, instructors or the head could enter but he also knew that this rule could be by-passed with the permission of an Instructor which he was going to get.
Cole pulled on Megan’s hand and took her in, he sighted Instructor Maybel leaning against a tree with her bandaged arms – she wasn’t too far away and Cole raised his hand to wave to her.
"Cole?" She asked as she saw him, "Back already?"
Then she noticed that he was carrying someone with him – someone that looked vastly similar to him, of course there was a different in eye color and hair length.
"I see," She muttered as Cole approached her, ’Even though he doesn’t have any soul energy, his presence has changed,’
Maybel was sure that the guards had noticed too, he felt stronger despite not having any soul energy... Cole rubbed the back of his head embarrassedly upon noticing that the Instructor refused to stop gazing at him.
"Who’s she?" Maybel asked and Cole smiled.
"She’s my sister, Instructor Maybel. Please I need your permission so that she can stay here," Cole said, "We also need to talk but it’s important, we can’t just do it outside,"
Maybel noticed his gaze darken quite a bit and then she waved to the Guards who nodded and began closing the gates – Cole gave a thankful nod and soon they all found themselves in the dining room.
"Well," Cole said, "Upon arriving in Reifall, I noticed that the town was in flames and corpses littered the streets,"
Maybel gaped at his words, he had said everything with a straight face... but what he was saying? Was it true?
"The attackers were three demons like Tobi," Cole said, "They looked pretty alike, but it’s to note that Tobi was very powerful and the ones I defeated were pretty weak,"
Megan gave Cole a glance, he was calling Andar weak? Andar was the strongest out of all of them.
Maybel stroked her chin a bit before nodding.
"Most of the Cavalier forces headed in the direction of the Forest of Death in search of a person that attacked the graveyard," Maybel said, she couldn’t escape the attack that was made, after all, she didn’t understand it as well – What would someone want with a graveyard?
"Ah, so that man that could control the shadows suspected me," Cole said causing Maybel’s eyes to widen.
"You met a Magus that was able to control the shadows?" Maybel asked.
Cole and Megan nodded while Maybel gritted her teeth, she had given him a warning after all.
’He didn’t listen to the warning, huh?’
Veins popped on her head, her annoyance for the Magus building to the breaking point – she planned to teach him a lesson.
