The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 61: Hobo Goblin (Part 2)

The monsters shot past Rem – each of them attacking the Hobo Goblin only for them to disperse shortly after, they hadn’t even managed to deal significant damage to the Monster but Rem had expected so, it was a Boss monster and not like any other Bosses he had encountered so far – The Hobo Goblin was worthy of it’s title, it’s sharpened instincts honed over various battles made it a strong and powerful opponent but Rem wasn’t going to let the Boss win. He closed in with the boss, his soul sickle gleaming with unrivaled energy in his right hand.

"Don’t forget about me," Rem said as he found his way beside the Hobo Goblin, stabbing his blade forward and watching it pierce into the arm of the Boss, the Goblin didn’t seem to react a lot as Rem pulled back – letting blood rush out from the wound, although it was only a miniscule amount. His eyes widened in surprise, of course the Monster had a really bulky frame and veiny muscles, his attacks wouldn’t deal a lot of damage... The Hobo Goblin thrusted the baton forward, aiming to hit Rem with it but the Apprentice only took steps backward, not only dodging the attack but creating space between himself and the Boss.

’I have to proceed...’ Rem thought, ’with more caution,’

The soul energy wrapping around his blade intensified and Rem entered a combat stance, preparing himself for the impending confrontation – he had quite a set of skills in his arsenal but he didn’t want to abuse them too much against the Hobo Goblin, Rem shot off the ground at maximum force... he brought his blade forward while the Goblin threw the baton at him.

Rem was taken by surprise, his eyes and mouth momentarily gaping in surprise and the baton smashed into his body – only for it to be revealed that it was an afterimage, The Hobo Goblin tensed up a bit – he couldn’t see Rem, where did he go?

Rem slashed through the Hobo Goblin’s arm, severing it with a single strike filled to the brim with soul energy. The severed arm fell to the dark dungeon ground, letting off a small shockwave as a result of the collision. Rem steadied himself on the ground, burying his feet within them as he locked eyes with the Hobo Goblin, the monster gritted it’s teeth and it bent over to pick up the Baton – Rem would have moved to intercept and take the second arm but the murderous intent... the murderous intent being directed toward him. It was far beyond his expectations. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

The Goblin took the baton off the ground and moved toward Rem, Rem was already prepared for it as he leapt off the ground. The Monster’s feet smashed into the ground moments after, shockwaves spreading all over the battlefield as a result. Rem stabilized himself mid-air and used the shockwaves to pull himself even further away from the Boss.

Even with an arm gone, the boss was dangerous and Rem didn’t plan on letting his guard down around it. His arms were steady as he stared ahead, locking gazes with the Boss. The Hobo Goblin turned to one of the halves of the severed baton and before Rem knew it, the baton had been thrusted toward him – Rem prepared to jump away but the baton was suddenly split into multiple pieces, each of them shooting to him with the force of a bullet.

The floor beneath Rem opened up as the Death Wolf Boss made an appearance, it’s roar sending a shockwave rumbling in the Boss room – it turned around to Rem in an effort to bow but Rem just sprinted past it.

"No time for that, defeat it," Rem said while pointing to the Hobo Goblin with his sickle.

The Death Wolf nodded and raised it’s snout into the air, crimson sparks of energy gathered above it, Rem’s sprint was drawn to a complete halt, he momentarily stopped his advancement to the Hobo Goblin and leapt out of the way – the sizzling crimson ball of energy shot forward at impeccable speed, smashing into the Hobo Goblin who had raised its baton up for defense. The Boss was flung backward, it’s back smashing into the wall, the Baton had been destroyed by the attack and now it was left defenseless.

Rem wasn’t taking any chances as he watched the Hobo Goblin attempt to pull itself out from the wall, he quickly closed the distance and gritted his teeth, channeling his energy to implore a technique which would make maximum damage, the size of the Boss didn’t matter and the durability of his body didn’t matter as well – he was going to shake the very soul!

Rem felt the energies in him achieve unity, he leapt right in front of the Hobo Goblin and sparks of black shot out from his figure, he focused everything on his right fist, covering the Soul Sickle in the attack as well.

’Convergence!’ Rem stabbed forward and pierced the chest of the Goblin, the ground below the Boss cracked as black bolts of lightning razed it’s body, the force laced within all of them was unparalleled... in that final moment, it could see death.

The Hobo Goblin slumped forward, it’s body smashing into the ground. Rem observed the life signs vanish, he had hit it right in the heart after all. Rem leaned over, witnessing the System screen unfailingly making an appearance.

As Rem clicked on yes, he witnessed a dark green orb of energy shoot out from the Hobo Goblin and enter him, his soul energy output was instantly amplified as the second screen appeared.

Upon seeing the name of the skill, it seemed he was going to have a lot of fun. Rem sat down on the ground and read through the System description, making sure to read for Soul Hunter and Soul sickle as well, he had a long day ahead of him after all.
