The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 60: Hobo Goblin
Rem glanced at the Magus, he expected the man to be lifeless but it was something much more dreadful – his vocal chords had been burned away, as well as his throat. Intense crimson flames poured out from the Magus’s mouth and threatened to engulf him within their powerful heat but Rem’s eyes flashed, he leapt backward with the help of Flash Movement – his figure vanished just as the blast of flames descended, roasting the ground below them. The Magus’s body slumped to the side slowly after and Rem retracted his Soul sickle... the soul of the Magus flowed into his body and gave him a 20 point boost in Magic, but not only that, he had actually gotten a skill.
[You have gained Unique Skill: Fireball]
’I didn’t think getting a skill from a human was possible,’ Rem thought while feeling magical energy bubbling within his body, ’Why did I get one from this Magus and not the Channelers?’
The System was doing a lot of strange things but Rem didn’t complain, he only focused magical energy into his palm and watched it light up in a brilliant crimson flame, it had been just as he wanted – a fireball.
Rem threw a gaze at the soulless corpses lay across the ground, he didn’t feel guilty for ending their lives, but now he had to brave the challenges of the Boss himself but Rem believed in his strength... besides with his healing ability, he was confident, and his skills as well as his Monster army only filled him up with more confidence.
The death of the Cavaliers though, he would have to explain it to the GUILD and he already had the perfect explanation – Everyone risked their lives to take down the boss but in the end, the Flame Magus had fired off his strongest spell sacrificing every bit of magical energy he had left to finish the boss, but the wounds he had incurred during the battle made him die moments later. The GUILD would have no choice but to believe him, it was not like they could see what went on within the dungeon.
Rem began walking forward, the flame still billowing around his palm, providing an additional source of light in the dimly lit dungeon. It only took a few minutes for Rem to come in contact with two huge doors, engraved in the walls. Rem took in a deep breath as he touched the doors, watching them push open by themselves.
He wasn’t a party, he didn’t need a battle plan – he just needed to use his hands.
The doors parted soon after and Rem stepped into the boss room, the aura pulsating from this room was far different from how the dungeon had been until now – standing in the center of the room was a bigger Goblin, although it didn’t look like any regular Goblin.
It was far bigger, reaching a height of three meters and it’s muscles were bulging with veins, it had a bald head with two scars going down right from it’s forehead to it’s chin and they had that murderous gleam to them, they would be able to spook any Apprentice or D-grade Cavalier who stepped into the room, but not Rem – he noticed that there were two batons, long and thick bars of wood on the Goblin’s arm.
’Hobo Goblin, C-grade’
Staring at the monster who was some meters away from him, Rem didn’t feel any fear. There was only one feeling that pumped through his veins and that was excitement, the flame on his right palm quickly dissipated and a green sickle took it’s place, the weapon’s brilliance befalling upon the battlefield in an instant.
The Hobo Goblin looked up, it’s eyes meeting Rem’s and with a burst of speed, it threw a baton at Rem. The baton shot through the air at blinding speed, appearing before Rem within an instant but the Apprentice was prepared, he brought the sickle forward and sliced through the baton with ease, cutting the towering bar of wood in half. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
At the corner of his eyes, Rem could sight that the Hobo Goblin was already next to him but he was prepared for this – he took a hold of one of the halved bars of wood and aimed it at the Boss while channeling more energy into it, preparing his first ever skill.
’Baton Smash!’
The baton was coated by green soul energy, echoing and enforcing it as it smashed into the Hobo Goblin’s face, taking the Boss by surprise but nevertheless it managed to raise it’s right bulky wrist up, blocking the attack quite easily. The Boss was sent skidding backward and cracks were etched into the part of the Baton that had come in contact with the Boss’s wrists, Rem quickly threw the baton to the side.
He had to admit the skill was powerful, but it didn’t do much to a bulky opponent like the Hobo Goblin. It was perfect for smaller opponents like humans or even regular monsters. Besides, he had a slicker and more proficient weapon – his Soul sickle.
Rem clenched his right fist and the size of the sickle increased with more soul energy being pumped into it, then he pushed off the ground and aimed at closing the distance between himself and the Goblin before striking. Tremors vibrated the ground below Rem, he spared a glance at the Hobo Goblin and saw it heaving the second baton over it’s shoulders. Of course Rem could recognize it as an attempt to attain stability – he was a little bit wary of this Boss’s battle intellect, upon realizing that Rem was far smaller than it and would also be able to land faster attacks, it instead focused on standing to counterattack after Rem had struck.
’It needs a spot in my army,’ Rem thought while narrowing his eyes at the Boss – green shadows suddenly began to emerge from beneath him, Rem wasn’t going for that single strike alone, he was going to go in with maximum force.
