Chapter 59: Pillars

The sword went through the Cavalier’s heart, blood spouted from the wound and the Attacker’s face let off a murderous glint.

"You think I didn’t see you sleeping with my wife yesterday!" The brown-haired Cavalier cried out, forcing the sword deeper, "You’re a damn fucker you know that?"

"I gave her something you would never be able to give her," The blond said, despite careening on Death’s edge – he couldn’t help it... Rem stared at them blankly, the other Cavaliers moved in to subdue the first one.

"You know Walter, we shouldn’t have to be wasting potions like this," One said only to get stabbed in the eye, it seemed the brown haired Cavalier had gone into a rage – the party was stirring quite a bit of havoc, the Boss’s doors weren’t too far apart, if only they’d just arrange themselves... then maybe Rem would stop having that thumping feeling in his chest.

’What is happening?’

The discord being produced by the group... it was pushing him over the edge albeit slowly, Rem clenched his fist as soul energy slowly seeped into his arms, The Flame Magus had turned to face the Cavaliers but Rem found himself craving for the ethereal figures which lay within their bodies, their essences – their souls. He had the feeling under control, but he wanted them... especially the Magus.

"Settle yourselves, Gentlemen," The Magus said only for his eyes to land on their Baggage carrier, soul energy emanating from his entire figure and forming a sickle on his right arm.

’I came here for the money,’ Rem thought while pulling off the bag, ’I didn’t come here for a quarrel, what does sleeping with another person’s wife mean? Doesn’t it mean just laying on the same bed?’

He was tired of this... the brown-haired Cavalier was still screaming in rage, but his voice was drowned out by the bubbling of soul energy – Rem moved forward, his body propelling forth and vanishing to the surprised gaze of the Magus.

Rem appeared in front of the brown haired Cavalier, the body of the Cavalier slumped behind him – slashed in half by the Soul sickle. Rem’s eyes locked onto the rest of them, the blond had fallen over and died due to blood loss. Blood dripped down from the Soul sickle but Rem couldn’t care less, he brandished his blade and took off – appearing in front of the closest Cavalier in the next moment.

’What is he?’

The Cavalier reluctantly brought down his blade, slashing at Rem but the Apprentice dodged it with a side-step, slashing the man in the waist with his next movement, shockwaves of pain ran through the Cavalier’s body as Rem’s blade sliced through leaving no room for counter. Rem’s eyes flashed as he slashed at the man, with a brilliant whir, the man was instantly cut in half under the terrifying pressure contained within the blade.

Despite blood and flesh covering Rem’s sickle, he could see that it was really sharp – more sharper than any bladed weapon he had ever wielded, but that reason was clear; it was because the blade had been refined from his soul energy.

Rem handled the other Cavaliers quickly, cutting at their centers and putting an end to their lives quickly without much effort. After absorbing their strength, he felt all of his stats increase by leaps and bounds.

"So you..." The Magus said while a flame crackled around his palm, "What do you want?"

’It’s a shame he’s not a monster,’ Rem thought, ’I could have made use of his skill,’

"Monster!" The Magus shouted as he flung a fireball forward only for Rem to slash through it with his sickle, the boy sighed.

"You talk a lot," Rem said and then leapt off the ground, utilizing Flash Movement to close in the distance between himself and the Magus instantly – he was planning to finish this battle with as little soul energy output as possible, then move on to the Boss but the Magus wasn’t letting him to, arcs of flames shrouded the body of the Magus before Rem’s eyes.

"Incinerate!" He cried out as they all converged on Rem, setting his body ablaze. Of course the flames only touched the air, Rem had already appeared beneath the Magus with the help of another Flash movement.

’One moment later and I would have been burned,’ Rem thought, the burns wouldn’t have killed him but they would have taken quite some time to heal, ’But this Magus is different from the Channelers,’

The difference could be witnessed in the way they fought, the Flame magus fought with not only wit but accurate usage of his spells, Rem thrusted his sickle forward but the Magus side-stepped his attack, throwing a kick at the boy. Rem raised his left elbow and blocked the strike easily.

"You’re a fighter," The Magus said while his body trembled, steaming hot flames rising from the depths of his heart – with each rapid beat, more heat was pumped to his palm as he prepared for an attack.

Rem used this to his advantage, Magus could release explosive power in forms of spells but the amount of time taken for the preparation of that spell could equally lead to the downfall of that Magus – Rem utilized his chance correctly, focusing more energy into expanding his blade as he cut through the Magus’s arms, the Magus let out a pained cry as his arms fell to the ground, dismembered by the sharp object Rem wielded, Rem didn’t even give him time to react as he stabbed the sickle forward – impaling the Magus’s heart in an instant.

Killing humans – it had never been a new feeling to him, he had done it before and he would do it again, humans were most deceitful, if they were classified as monsters in a dungeon, they’d probably the most deceptive breed of monsters ever to exist in the Dungeon. Even when killing a human, it was like killing a monster, Rem didn’t know if he should be feeling anything for the people he killed, they were pillars... pillars he had to stomp on if he longed to get true strength.
