Chapter 53: Cole’s Awakening (Part 3)

Andar couldn’t wrap his head around it, there was no way he was getting overpowered... by a human who didn’t have the ability to wield the two types of energies which existed within the human body.

Soul energy, a component of energy that humans had was a very crucial energy which was a filtered version of energy extracted from the soul – Soul energy could be used to strengthen the human body, reinforce it, and at some point be used to boost it, it was the kind of energy that Cavaliers, having no potency for magic have learned to draw on for their fights – this energy was the only reason Cavaliers were brought into existence.

Magic energy, this energy originated from the soul itself – an alternate of Soul energy in a way, Soul energy was refined from the soul, without draining from the life force of the user but Magic energy existed deep within the soul, just a spark or a dot of it. Magic energy could be awakened in different ways but it didn’t exist for everyone and once it is awakened – it can rapidly increase depending on the amount of magic that existed within the soul.

But... Cole didn’t have any of those, he didn’t have soul energy to coat and strengthen his attacks neither did he have Magical energy, he just had his physicality and he was wrecking the demon known as Andar.

Andar bounced up, straightening himself and glaring at Cole – the Apprentice let off a smile as he pushed the revolver back into his pocket.

"Isn’t that your weapon?" Andar asked, only then noticing Cole’s back – two chained blades emanating with soul energy were in view. Cole brought out his blades.

"Don’t worry, I’m not using both against you," Cole said and tore off the chain connecting one of them, throwing the other weapon aside – "I’ll only use one,"

Andar compressed magical energy into his palms, pointing them at Cole, the air rattled under his fists as rocks rose from the ground.

"Interesting," Cole commented as Andar thrusted his right fist forward, a blast of wind propelling forward in an instant, it ripped at the ground sending the pavement flying toward Cole alongside the strong gust of wind. The Apprentice didn’t bat an eyebrow, instead he walked toward the wreckage heading toward him and then his body vanished.

Cole appeared behind Andar, his jagged blade gleaming with soul energy as he held the hilt, intending to stab it into Andar’s neck and end the battle once and for all but Andar was faster – within the blink of an eye, he dodged Cole’s strike and released his other wind burst, pushing Cole’s body through the air at an alarming pace but the Apprentice didn’t look bothered by it, instead he vanished once again before his back made contact with the wall.

’What kind of speed is that? He didn’t even need to fight against the force of the wind!’ Andar thought in alarm as he could see Cole – bouncing around him, he was bouncing around the destroyed buildings and the ground, detecting Cole was too much of a hassle and Andar decided to raise his guard, hoping to defend against the next attack.

"Poor choice," Cole said, his voice cold as he stabbed his blade into Andar’s chest from behind, the blade ruptured through his heart and came out at the front, dripping of the demon’s blood.

Andar coughed out blood, gripping the blade with both arms but it began glowing, rattling his insides with soul energy... His eyes widened, Tobi had been killed – could it be possible that this Crimson haired fighter had killed him? It certainly was a possibility.

Cole edged the blade deeper but Andar’s eyes flashed, wind surging from the pores of his body – Cole was forced backward but he stabilized himself mid-air, his feet landing on the wall as his gaze focused on Andar, the boy was rattling with immense amounts of magical energy, his hair blew in the wind and the weapon was still through his heart but his surroundings rumbled, web-like cracks protruding from the ground and rocks rising into the air.

’His Physicality is what makes him powerful,’ Andar realized, ’If I can make sure that he doesn’t come within range, it doesn’t matter,’

With a clap of his palms, Andar rose into the air – his eyes sparked with magical energy as multiple bursts of wind shot through the air, heading down to Cole who was still hanging off the building. The bursts of wind shot forward at speeds even a Cavalier would find hard to follow but Cole could see them, he was faster...

’This power in my veins – I have not even used it to it’s full extent,’ Cole thought as the wall he was hanging on crushed, his eyes locking with Andar just before the bursts of wind crashed against the spot where he stood.

Andar didn’t exhibit any surprise, Cole was on the ground and Andar descended as well, standing next to Cole.

"What’s your name?" Andar asked.

"The Soulless Cavalier... Cole, commit it to memory before you die," Cole replied and his body vanished just as Andar blasted a burst of wind at him, Cole drew out the blade from Andar’s heart causing blood to rush out of the wound profusely.

The blade flowed with soul energy; every bit of it looked invigorated by a crimson aura which came from the soul, Cole could feel it... his sister had been stacking the blade with her soul energy throughout the time he left, and he would use it – he would use it all for this moment. Andar cried out, magic surging around him as he compressed it into an orb, he stared at Cole only to realize the Apprentice had closed the distance between them instantly, stabbing the dagger forward, aiming right at his head. Andar raised the orb up, countering the blade surging with soul energy and the air rumbled, it was a fierce contest of soul energy and magical energy and both contestants weren’t planning to back out but even amidst the collision, Andar could still witness that smirk on Cole’s face, he was confident in winning.
