The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 49: Unique Title: Soul Hunter (Part 1)

Cynthia crouched, observing Rem’s every movement from a nearby tree – she would have begun observation on him a long time ago but she wasn’t allowed into the mansion territory, the guards had been very strict with their words and she understood – observing one of their Apprentices were off-limits, at least while within the Mansion – she had all the free space to explore him on the outside, they couldn’t interfere with her choices and besides she had the true advantage here.

A skill... An Apprentice was capable of awakening a skill that was similar to their Soul energy, it could be a single skill or multiple skills attuned with their soul energy which would help the Cavalier in battles. Cynthia’s awakened skill: Secrecy was a skill that spoke volumes of her assassin-like nature.

The Unique Skill: Secrecy would help the user in not only masking their presence from the knowledge of other people, it would also mask their bodies, sound, smell and turn them into seeming shadows – it was the perfect ability for an assassin, especially for a situation like this but it wasn’t an invincible skill, it had limits as well like it couldn’t hide from people that had high perception.

’He’s moving,’ Cynthia thought as she descended to the ground, her body blended with her surroundings – she could not be seen. . . she could not be caught. . . But Rem spun around instantly, facing her with a poker face.

"Why are you following me?" Rem asked, the girl blinked and stared behind herself. . . there was no one behind her, her cheeks turned pink as she realized that Rem could see her.

’B – but how?’ Cynthia thought as Rem’s gaze didn’t leave her body, she deactivated the skill.

She hadn’t realized that Rem had such a high level of perception already, he had seen through her skill in an instant.

"I don’t understand," Cynthia said, "How could you see through my skill within an instant?"

"It’s not like you were doing anything to hide yourself," Rem said, "Besides, why are you trailing me?"

Cynthia was confused by his answer but Rem’s question prompted her to think of an immediate answer, she couldn’t tell him that she was trailing him for her personal purposes – she just didn’t understand how he had that kind of power, maybe it was some sort of training he did and she wanted answers but it was clear that, he was already unto her. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Well the mayor was curious about you is all," Cynthia said with the straightest face she could muster, "And I happened to see you as you were exiting is all,"

"Is that how you approach people? With some sort of concealment?" Rem asked while cocking his head to the right a bit, he was in utter confusion.

Cynthia cursed in her head, she didn’t really have a way to explain walking up to him in concealment.

"I thought you were one of those people that were interested with younger children," Rem said, "I almost thought for a second there that you were using your Concealment to try and kidnap me – then sell me off a slave for some ransom,"

’Heh. . . She doesn’t have a way to come back from this one,’ Rem thought, his words had targeted specifically at the fact that he already suspected her of hating him for passing the Evaluation test, ’If she comes with me to the graveyard with that annoying power of her’s, my secret might as well be out,’

So Rem realized what he needed to do – to make sure that he embarrassed her to the point that she would be unable to look him in the eyes, at least for the rest of today.

"You mean a slave trader?" Cynthia asked in surprise, biting her lips in utter annoyance.

"Yes, that’s what they’re called," Rem replied, "Back in the town where I came from, they kidnapped people and sold them off to others just because they were better than the other person or they seemed suspicious, and that was from the Slums area, imagine how it is in such a prestigious town like this one. . . You were giving me a glare back then as I cleared the Evaluation test so I can’t help but compare you with the people that I know,"

At this point, he was just talking so much so that she would be discouraged and leave. . . it would save him a great deal of energy to try and avert her later, besides if he succeeded in his plans – he would have a ton of magical energy to spare, it would be the perfect for summoning monsters unto the battlefield.

"I’m sorry," Cynthia said while looking at the ground, she didn’t understand. . . she didn’t remember that the boy was from a place where a person could kill another for a piece of bread. At this moment, Rem looked so innocent yet the girl did not know that he was grinning on the inside, for his plot worked flawlessly.

"I’ll be on my way now, you have a safe trip," Cynthia said and Rem nodded.

"I will be back at the Mayor’s place in a week time to claim my reward so I’ll see you then," Rem said and the girl began walking away, stroking her blond hair to ease on the stress tempting to take over her mind.

Rem couldn’t care less about the girl as she finally left the street and his muscles relaxed, he found an inn to rent and began sleeping his day off. . . preparing for night to strike.

"Rem already left?" Mika asked for the umpteenth time after opening his room door – Cole sighed, he really didn’t waste any time in going away from the mansion although no one knew where he was going to, but if Cole were to guess, Rem was going to come back even stronger.

He was not going to lag behind in this endeavor, Rem would only be his first stepping stone after all. . . the first stepping stone of him finally being recognized.

"Well, you need anything more?" Mika asked as she stared at Cole, saddled with a big bag at his back – he was really taking everything with him, on Mika’s orders. He longed for visiting his friends and family yet again, the thirst for his hometown was strong now and he absolutely couldn’t wait to be in the arms of his Mother
