Chapter 41: Evaluation Test (Part 2)

Maybel’s eyes widened – she wasn’t sure she was hearing the Cavalier well but the man had made himself clear... Rem was wanted at the Light mansion, this mansion was the largest in the whole of Orion town – housing the mayor who founded the town... The S-ranked Cavalier who was rumored to even be amongst the Top ten Cavaliers in the world.

"Okay," Rem said, if he had his way in this meeting... he could walk away with a lot of gains as well as new gear, after all, the owner of the town probably had to be filthy rich, "Let’s go,"

#####

The Light mansion was more than what Rem had expected, they hadn’t even reached the front door yet and the forest area, perfectly trimmed and taken care of had already expanded for several kilometers...

’Just how big is this land,’ Rem thought as they maintained a steady pace, it would be quite a while before he saw anything different – after all, it was just trees and bushes which once again were carefully taken care of. It didn’t take too long before they arrived in front of a mansion which was far larger than Drew’s. It would be a mistake to compare their heights as Rem could not even see the tip of this one, unlike the regular Mansion he was used to, this one was guarded at all sides by Cavaliers that made this one guiding him into the mansion look like child’s play.

’I guess this is the power difference,’

It was a vast amount of power, this whole mansion seemed like a combination of powerhouses... Rem was soon led inside and into a room with comfortable couches.

"Make yourself comfortable," The Cavalier said and Rem nodded while sinking into one of the Couches made available, the softness of the fabric was more than he expected and he felt his body get even more relaxed just by sitting here – before coming here, he had changed into casual clothes, he couldn’t come to Light Mansion with bloody clothes after all.

The air in the room changed as the door opened, revealing a middle-aged man with long flowing blond hair which glittered gloriously in the afternoon sun and a pair of blue eyes which were wrapped by azure aura, the pressure escaping from the man’s body... it felt suffocating in a way but Rem managed to hold himself back, his soul energy was something else.

’There seems to be a lot of new experiences I’m making,’

He couldn’t even mutter, his lips wouldn’t move. The man took a seat opposite Rem and placed his legs on the table which was provided before-hand.

"So you’re the troublesome youth?" He said while retracting his aura, Rem gasped as his lungs greedily sucked in air.

"Troublesome?" Rem muttered out and the mayor chuckled while extending a hand to the Cavalier who produced two big pieces of paper.

"Yes, pretty troublesome," The mayor said, "First we had to look into your files and they were hard to get since you were an orphan but you’re turning fifteen this year right?"

"Yes," Rem said.

"Well not only that but you were charged with robbery back in Onio, charged with the theft of two magical stones," The Cavalier said while looking Rem in the eyes.

Rem stood his ground though, as if he was used to interrogations like these.

"In my defense, I was recently out on a dungeon raid and I managed to stumble across those stones which I quickly kept aside," Rem said.

The mayor looked up from his paper and turned to Rem.

"You stole them?"

"Yes," Rem admitted.

There was a good reason why he actually admitted he was the one who took it – that was because there would be no point in saying a lie to this mysterious man, besides he seemed to be observing Rem’s answers.

"Good," He said while throwing the papers aside, "You see I brought you here because I’m not only interested in your background but in your current power as well, you just came out of a Dungeon if I am correct – it was a C-grade dungeon and you escaped from it unscathed,"

"Of course, we can’t call you strong just for that because the gateway was not made naturally," The mayor said, "But it still doesn’t beat the fact that you survived a C-grade dungeon while only being an Apprentice," 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"We had been away from the town at the time the Monster struck, cutting away a large chunk of promising Apprentices away from Orion and not only that but C-grade and D-grade Cavaliers had also gotten injured in the confrontation," The Mayor said, "But somehow, not only you but your Apprentice friends also survived the onslaught – a very promising bunch of children,"

’Especially this boy,’ The mayor thought while glancing at Rem yet again, he knew he had finally found a good match for...

The door of the room opened and revealed another Cavalier.

"We have brought all of the Apprentices from Drew’s mansion to the ground floor," The Cavalier reported and the Mayor nodded.

"What’s happening?" Rem asked.

"Oh, I’m just going to test your capabilities a bit," The Mayor replied, "Against a girl that’s still an Apprentice like you although she’s a far more dangerous opponent,"

’Hmm... Let’s see what this girl is like anyway,’ Rem thought as he was suddenly raised by the shirt into the air- the mayor held onto Rem tightly.

"Don’t you want to see the battles?" He asked while stepping out of the door.

Cole stirred awake, his face on the cold ground and his fists clenched – the last thing he could remember... was his back smashing against the stone pillar, sending excruciating pain round his body but all of that pain was healed and now replaced with burning invigoration... he was ready to kill...

He stopped in his tracks, he didn’t recognize this room... he wasn’t in the battlefield anymore, he was somewhere else.

"You’re finally awake, huh?" Cole heard a sweet feminine voice call out to him, as he turned to face her, he saw her beautiful blond hair cascading down her shoulders and a pair of crystal blue eyes... her beauty could not be comprehended in mere words.

"It’s time for your Evaluation Test to begin," The girl said while folding her arms.
