Chapter 35: Chaos In Orion Battlefield (Part 2)

The Apprentices in the waiting room raced outside on instinct, there looked to be about more than forty of them but as they left the confines of the waiting room and onto the battlefield... An adult man stood, burly and muscular while holding a very familiar instructor by the neck with his left fist, he apparently seemed to be choking the life out of her.

"Instructor Maybel!" Cole cried out in alarm and the Demon’s eyes turned to them, his horns letting off a malevolent glint – once Cole saw his eyes, it didn’t take a second to put two in two together... This was Tobi, his true form.

The marks were still visible across his skin, yet they appeared even more refined but even though... those eyes, Cole couldn’t mistake it – something was brewing, something evil.

"Let her go!" Mika cried out and noticed Tobi twitch, he turned in her direction and threw Maybel aside, the body of the Instructor landing on the ground with a sickening thud.

’My mission is not only to kill the Monster Monarch but to considerably weaken the human forces,’ Tobi thought as his gaze darkened, ’The Apprentices from that mansion have quite a lot of potential,’

Tobi extended a single finger forward, pointing it at Cole and an evil smile tugged at his lips. A red beam of magic pulsed forward, shooting through the air at breakneck speed – threatening to blast Cole and the Apprentices beside him from the face of the Earth. The speed of the attack was so fast that Cole barely had the time to react.

Before he knew it, the beam was right before his eyes – he could hear his heart beating at an abnormal rate, yet he couldn’t move... he was rooted to the spot, fear pulsating through his veins, his eyes widened in surprise as Krista and Mika appeared in front of him, their bodies were covered in their respective soul energies and their fists thrusted forward – meeting the beam head-on and causing a shockwave to go round the arena, the red beam of magic dissipated shortly after.

Tobi eyed the both Apprentices with an amused gaze only for his amusement to vanish as he stepped backward, a moment didn’t even go by as a slash filled with murderous energy passed by him... Everyone’s eyes instinctively fell on Maria, her pink hair hanging loosely on her shoulders and her blue eyes radiating a crimson energy.

"All of you, work with the Cavaliers to evacuate the people from here," Maria said, "We can survive this with no casualties,"

The amount of bloodlust leaking from the woman, all of it directed to Tobi – Mika could feel it, her body trembled a bit... she never really thought that Instructor Maria could harbor so much hate for a person.

"I wonder where you got a second sword?" Tobi asked, as if he didn’t regard her as a threat which infuriated Maria even more.

Cole had already noticed some of the Apprentices moving backward, heading to the Waiting room while others were rooted on the spot, fear in their eyes. Tobi’s gaze landed on them and that evil smile as enough to make them scream.

Waving his arms into the air, multiple beams of light shot to the Apprentices and Maria as well – each of them empowered by magical energy, specifically aimed for everyone in Tobi’s sight... but Tobi was ready this time, he had already gotten into his combat stance and adrenaline flowed through his veins as he witnessed the beam of magic draw closer to him.

With his entire force directed at this attack, there was absolutely no way he would avoid dodging it – energy was already gathering within his feet but his focus was shaken as he heard a scream, Cole spared a glance at the right and found the girl who had been grateful enough to give him a healing potion, if it wasn’t for her, Mika and Krista wouldn’t have gotten healed so quickly.

Cole grabbed onto her hand and pushed them downward, beams of magic crossing by their heads... they rolled across the ground as both beams of energy engulfed other unlucky Apprentices who were racing to the waiting room – Cole hugged the girl tight as their bodies finally pulled to a halt.

He was grateful that he was able to save her.

"You okay?" It was only then that he noticed blood stained his clothes, there was no reply from the girl he had saved but he could see it- her body headless, blood trickling from her neck to his face.

’H – how? W- when?’

Cole let go of her body, that hopeful look she had in her eyes when he had helped was replaced by a headless body... his thoughts were haunted, A terrifying scream escaped his throat as he hugged his knees, her blood painting his face – the terror in his heart unleashed within a moment’s notice as he wailed.

Tobi’s eyes widened in delight as he witnessed Cole writhing in pain, he raised a single finger up to the boy and crimson energy shrouded it.

"The moment before you crashed on the ground – a split second before you were able to land on the ground, I struck," Tobi said, "What? You scared?"

Cole’s body trembled and his eyes filled with rage locked on to Tobi’s figure yet he couldn’t do anything more than look at the devil standing in front of him.

"You were always the weakest of us all, no amount of physicality will save you from that," Tobi said as the red beam of magic tore through the air, only for Krista to run into it- her palms circulating with soul energy as she thrust it forward and met the beam of magic with rippling force.

’We might have lost Rem... but not Cole!’ Krista thought, her figure highlighted by a deep violet aura as the beam got pushed back a bit, ’It’s your turn, Mika!’

Mika appeared beside Tobi, her eyes trembling with rage – she didn’t know why she was so angry but she could never forgive Tobi for what he did to Rem... soul energy rotated around her fist as her soul achieved union, reality shattered before Tobi’s very eyes and the only thing he could see was Mika covered in a black aura while her fist smashed against his stomach.

’Convergence!’
