Chapter 34: Chaos At Orion Battlefield

Every thought running through Maybel’s head right now- it had a short, simple term ’Fear’... Fear described a lot of things, Fear that she had for Rem’s safety and fear that she had for their survival.

The Soul energy of Tobi had changed, like it had undergone an evolution of its own. It had become more evil in the process, terrifyingly evil... Tobi’s aura was seemingly like a living being, screaming to kill them all but the redhead Instructor had to maintain her composure.

The soul energy bursting around her fists grew stronger and her eyes focused on Tobi.

"Oh, how interesting," Tobi said, his voice as menacing as ever, "Well I’ve got some kids to kill so don’t waste my time,"

Maria was the first to move, approaching Tobi in a burst of speed while gripping her sword but the horned Demon was quick to react, dodging to the right before Maria had even made her move – and behold, Maria slashed the spot he had just been standing before.

"What-"

She was barely able to mouth out as Tobi’s thick foot smashed into her side, her eyes turning white as her body propelled side-ways under the intense force laced in the kick. Using Maria’s failed strike as a distraction, Maybel appeared below Tobias, her legs going for a quick sweep but the Demon was faster, leaping away from harm in an instant.

"It’s hopeless," Tobi said as he raised his clenched fist up and released a single finger... Crimson energy flooded around Tobi’s fingertip and he pointed it at Maybel- releasing a singular beam of light created with Magical energy toward the redhead. The beam of light was instaneous, pushing through the air with amazing force, it appeared in front of Maybel within an instant.

Only for it to crash into Maria’s Magic Iron sword, engulfed with crimson soul energy. That alone was not enough to stop the beam but it gave Maria enough time to dodge, leaping out of the way of disaster within a moment’s notice.

As the beam of light shattered the blade and smashed against a tree, Both Instructors watched with a shocked gaze as the tree was instantly destroyed leaving nothing but charred wood and leaves in it’s wake.

’That’s a very powerful move, I’ll be sure to avoid it myself next time,’ Maybel thought as her gaze went to Maria, struggling to pull herself out of the crater she had made in the tree.

Tobi smirked as he saw the gaze of the redhead while Soul energy coursed through her veins and into her fists, her eyes were as calm as the river but he could see otherwise – a storm forming within the young woman as she pushed off the ground, closing the distance between them in a second.

Tobi raised his right foot up and kicked her but she was quicker, raising her arms in a cross and defending against the powerful strike.

’My turn,’ Maybel thought while clenching her right fist tightly, punching Tobi with a strike filled to the brim with Soul energy. Tobi shuddered, the force laced within that blow was surely more than he expected.

Maybel gritted her teeth and sent forward a consecutive round of punches, each one laced with terrifying power showing the peak manipulation of soul energy that the Instructor possessed but with each blow she landed, Maybel could sense that Tobi was repressing the force behind her blows.

’Soul Enforcement!’

It was already too late, Tobi grabbed her right fist before it could land on his face and the soul energy around it rapidly dissipated – leaving the Instructor stunned for a moment but she quickly regained her senses, Her full body enforcement faded and everything went to the arm that Tobi held.

"Even if you enforce your arm, it doesn’t change the fact that-"

Tobi applied force to Maybel’s fist but she struck him with a powerful kick in the crotch, a crunching sound echoed through the air as Tobi’s palm loosened enough for the redhead instructor to draw her fist back and create some space between herself and the towering Demon.

"Maybe this might be harder than I thought," Maybel thought. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Cole gritted his teeth as his eyes found the entrance to the stadium, he slowed down a bit and took in a deep breath.

’I was not able...’

Cole had been rooted to the spot in that battle, unable to do anything as Mika and Krista fought against Tobi – the same Tobi who Cole believed to coincidentally be average at everything, the same Tobi he used to get along with... the only noteworthy thing he had managed to accomplish in the Confrontation was shielding Krista and if she hadn’t sprung forward and wielded his weapon the time she did, Tobi might have killed him.

Terror loomed in the air, the S-grade Adventurer who owned the town had gone on a Dungeon raid and even Drew had left the town some time ago.

Cole sprinted toward the Orion battlefield, the civilians sitting in the stands – ready for the Apprentice tournament which was supposed to take place shortly but no one expected what was coming next.

#####

Cole let out a sigh as he dropped Mika and Krista against the lockers, they were in the Waiting room where all the Cavaliers were gathered... it was from the waiting room that they would be called onto the Battlefield to spar with their Magical weapons.

A Brown haired Cavalier dressed in blue overalls leaned over to Cole.

"What’s wrong with them?" She asked.

Cole refused to answer, his eyes roaming around as he realized he was terrified...

"Are there any healing potions here?" The crimson haired Apprentice asked, his voice a bit shaky.

The girl quickly nodded and walked over to a small table at the corner, three vials glowed in the well-lit waiting room and without hesitation, and the Brown haired Apprentice handed one over to Cole.

Cole used his teeth to bite open the cork, spitting it aside. His eyes landed on Mika who was the wounded one, blood trailing down her nostrils – he forced her limp body into a sitting position and opened her mouth.

’We need her to be awake,’ Cole thought as the liquid flowed into her throat, the effects were instant as life returned to Mika’s eyes.

He handed the rest of the liquid in the vial over to Krista who drank it down, recovering her lost stamina.

"Thank you," Cole told the brown-haired Apprentice with a sigh of relief.

"You’re welcome, why was she so beaten up though?" The Apprentice asked and Cole’s eyes narrowed.

"Someone attacked us," Cole said and stood up, "We need to get everyone out-"

An explosion within the battlefield drew everyone’s attention to what was happening at it’s center but Cole knew it was going to be disastrous.
