The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 33: Demon In Human Skin (Part 2)
Mika’s gaze wasn’t focused on Tobi, no it was focused on where Rem had stood- where had he been sucked into?
Just because he hit her didn’t mean she hated him, it was quite the frank opposite... she wanted to be friends with him but Rem had never given her the chance- he had never let his guard down.
’That was... a dungeon gate,’ Mika realized, she had seen one of those before. Her heart sank even more. A blue gate was a C-rank gate and even with the classes they took, the amount of strength they gained- it was impossible for even her to solo a C-rank gate... that was just how powerful the monsters within the dungeon were.
Her eyes went back to Tobi who stood smugly, threatening to kill them... rage flashed in her eyes, When she had just gotten to know him... when she had started to understand him a bit... Tobi tore them apart, she would never forgive him.
"What’s with the hateful gaze, Mika? Did I perhaps kill your lover?" Tobi asked, sarcasm dripping in his voice but Mika was having none of it, her rage reaching it’s peak as pink soul energy adorned her fists, her tattoo glowing brilliantly.
’Each person here,’ Tobi thought, ’is very dangerous- even with Rem out of the equation, their quirks are truly something else,’
Murderous intent leaked into the air and Mika paused in her tracks, her soul energy flickering to a mere spark as Tobi appeared in front of her and flicked her forehead – every bone in her body seemed to rattle as the blue haired Apprentice was sent flying, her back hoarsely smashing into a tree and blood trailing out her nostrils and mouth. The glow on Mika’s tattoo vanished as her head slumped forward, her body failing her.
Krista gritted her teeth and moved to Tobi’s side, her gauntlets engulfed with violet soul energy as she unleashed the full potential of her Soul weapon... she thrust her right fist forward and aimed for Tobi’s head with rattling force, only for her fist to connect with the air.
Tobi was already at her side, his marks seemingly glowing as he aimed a kick at Krista only for Cole to get in the way, tanking the damage with a jagged blade... shockwaves vibrated through the steel but it remained resilient, Cole’s gaze darkened as he withdrew his blade only for Krista to shoot forward and confront Tobi, her fists adorned with soul energy – she threw a punch at Cole’s stomach which the Shapeshifter redirected with a palm.
’I haven’t even reached my true form yet,’ Tobi thought but he couldn’t help but think that Krista had something up her sleeve- his eyes trailed to her other hand, only for them to widen momentarily.
She grabbed onto the blade he had struck earlier, violet soul energy covering it’s figure as she stabbed it forward aiming for his neck.
’She’s looking for a swift decapitation,’
Tobi leaned his head backward and dodged Krista’s attack, but her other fist connected with his chest... his body rocketing backward and smashing into the ground, Krista gritted her teeth as she gathered soul energy within her fist yet again, taking a combat stance.
"You’ll pay," Krista said, her rage reaching it’s boiling point as well and her soul energy maximizing – he had always been a part of the family, no matter how distant he acted.
Tobi chuckled evily and stood up, massaging his chest while instantly raising two fingers upward much to Krista and Cole’s horror – they knew what the fingers could do.
’Even in my true form, it is impossible for me to summon a gate right after using one,’ Tobi thought as his marks glowed brightly, ’But there’s more to this hand sign than just summoning,’
There were two ways to cast a spell; Chants and Handsigns, Chants were the method most commonly used by Lower Magus, ranging from the E – B rank but Handsigns were used by Magus who knew spells too complex to chant out loud, although Handsigns took a lot more magic, it was worth it in Tobi’s situation- they could barely predict what was going to happen next, crimson energy gathered at his fingertips and he prepared to unleash another technique, a technique which was sure to wipe out the Apprentices only for blood to spout from his back, his pupils dilated as soul energy ripped and shredded his skin apart.
Maria appeared in front of the Apprentices and besides her was Maybel, her fists radiating in crimson soul energy – full body enforcement flowing around her body, Maria gripped a Magic Iron sword, surrounded by crimson energy.
"Where is Rem?" Maybel asked, the safety of her top student was uppermost.
"A blue portal... opened behind him," Krista replied as she started tearing up, she was almost ready to cry.
Maybel affectionately stroke Krista’s head.
"It’s fine, Cole get them out of here- head to the venue," Maybel said and Cole nodded, sheathing his blades and grabbing Krista by the waist before pushing forward using Flash movement and picking Mika up- his figure blurred soon after as he was on the run, utilizing his full speed.
As soon as they were out of sight, Maybel’s gaze turned to Tobi – her golden eyes shining remarkably as she assumed a combat stance.
"I always knew you were trouble," Maybel said, "Your soul energy always seemed too restrained,"
Tobi’s eyes widened as he laughed uncontrollably, evil dripping in his voice... the bleeding in his back had stopped and the wound had healed.
"Where is Rem?" Maria asked.
"He’s dead," Tobi replied coldly, "Just like how you are going to be in a few minutes,"
The Shapeshifter’s body vibrated with magical energy as it grew taller, his muscles also increased in size and horns protruded from his forehead as he took on the body of an older muscular man, his eyes dark as the night itself and his body covered in an evil black aura.
"It feels so good to be back," Tobi muttered to himself while the ground shattered below him – there was no one that could stop his plan now.
Maria turned to Maybel and she nodded, their soul energies reaching their maximum in an attempt to match the evil that stood in their path.
"I’ll go first," Maria said as she imbued soul energy into her Magic Iron sword bit by bit to ensure that it didn’t shatter.
