Chapter 229: End Of The First Raid

The dungeon stretched onward, its winding tunnels and dim glow creating an unsettling maze.

The trio pressed forward, their steps careful but purposeful.

Luke’s earlier excitement had tempered into focus, and Kiara’s nervousness was replaced by steely determination.

"Stay sharp," Rem said, his voice cutting through the oppressive silence. "We’re likely getting closer to the heart of this place. The deeper we go, the tougher the monsters will be."

Luke and Kiara both nodded, their weapons gripped tightly.

It didn’t take long for the monsters to appear.

A cacophony of screeches echoed through the tunnel as a wave of creatures surged toward them.

These monsters were unlike the lizards from before; they were hulking, ape-like beasts with glowing eyes and claws sharp enough to carve through stone.

Luke didn’t hesitate. Soul energy flared around him as he darted forward, his blade slicing cleanly through the first beast that lunged at him.

The creature roared in pain before collapsing, its massive form hitting the ground with a thud.

Kiara wasn’t far behind. Her movements were swift and precise as she channeled her soul energy into her strikes, her dagger flashing as it found weak points in the monsters’ thick hides.

Rem watched them carefully as he moved through the fray, his sword a blur of motion. Every strike was calculated, every movement efficient.

The monsters didn’t stand a chance against his overwhelming power and experience.

"Luke, on your left!" Rem called, his tone commanding.

Luke spun just in time to deflect an incoming claw swipe, his blade sparking against the beast’s jagged nails. With a burst of soul energy, he countered, his strike driving the monster back.

"Thanks!" he shouted, his voice strained but steady.

"Kiara, cover Luke!" Rem ordered, cutting down another beast with a single, fluid motion.

Kiara darted to Luke’s side, her movements a blur as she intercepted an attacking monster. Her dagger found its mark, and the creature let out a guttural scream before crumpling to the ground.

The wave of monsters seemed endless, but the trio worked together seamlessly.

Under Rem’s guidance, Luke and Kiara moved with precision, their attacks complementing each other. It was clear that their training had paid off, but the sheer number of enemies was beginning to take its toll.

"Don’t lose focus," Rem said, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. "We’re almost through this wave."

With one final push, they cleared the tunnel of monsters, the last beast falling to the ground with a heavy thud.

Luke leaned against the wall, his breathing ragged. "That was... intense."

Kiara wiped the sweat from her brow, her expression a mix of exhaustion and satisfaction. "They just kept coming."

Rem surveyed the area, his sword still in hand. "That’s how dungeons are. The monsters are meant to wear you down before you reach the boss. Don’t let your guard down."

Luke straightened, determination flickering in his eyes. "I’m not done yet. Let’s keep going."

Rem gave him a small nod, a hint of approval in his gaze.

The trio continued deeper into the dungeon, the air growing colder and heavier with each step. The faint hum of energy grew louder, and the glowing stones lining the walls pulsed with an unsettling rhythm.

They entered a massive chamber, its cavernous expanse illuminated by a faint blue light. At the center of the room stood the boss: a towering, grotesque creature with multiple limbs and a thick, armored hide.

Its glowing eyes locked onto them, and it let out a deafening roar that shook the very ground beneath their feet.

Luke’s grip on his blade tightened. "That’s the boss?"

Rem stepped forward, his expression calm but focused. "Yes. Stay focused. We do this together."

The creature charged, its massive limbs crashing into the ground as it closed the distance between them.

"Spread out!" Rem barked. "Luke, Kiara, flank it and keep it distracted. I’ll handle the main strikes."

Luke and Kiara didn’t hesitate. They darted to opposite sides of the chamber, their soul energy flaring as they moved.

Kiara was the first to attack, her dagger flashing as she aimed for the creature’s joints. Her strikes were precise, each one aimed to weaken its movements.

The creature roared in frustration, swiping at her with one of its massive limbs, but she was too fast, dodging effortlessly.

On the other side, Luke unleashed a burst of soul energy, his speed increasing as he landed strike after strike against the creature’s tough hide.

His blade sparked against its armor, but he didn’t let up, his determination driving him forward.

"Good," Rem muttered to himself as he watched their movements.

With the creature distracted, Rem moved in. His sword glowed faintly as he channeled his own soul energy, his strikes aimed at the monster’s vulnerable points.

Each blow was precise and powerful, cutting through its thick hide and drawing guttural screams from the beast.

"Luke, more pressure on its left side!" Rem called out, his voice carrying over the chaos of the battle.

"On it!" Luke replied, darting to the side and landing a powerful strike on the creature’s leg.

Kiara took advantage of the opening, her dagger sinking into one of its exposed joints. The creature let out a pained roar, its movements growing sluggish.

Rem seized the moment. With a burst of speed, he leapt into the air, his sword raised high. Soul energy surged through him, amplifying his strength as he brought the blade down with a powerful strike. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The creature let out one final, ear-splitting roar before collapsing to the ground, its massive form shaking the chamber.

The room fell silent, the only sound the trio’s ragged breathing.

"We did it," Luke said, a tired but triumphant grin spreading across his face.

Kiara leaned against the wall, her dagger still in hand. "That was... something else."

Rem stepped forward, his expression calm as he examined the fallen creature. "Good work. Both of you."

Luke and Kiara exchanged a glance, pride flickering in their eyes.

As they caught their breath, the faint hum of energy in the room began to fade, and the dungeon’s oppressive atmosphere lifted slightly.

"Let’s gather what we can and get out of here," Rem said, sheathing his sword. "We’ve done enough for one day."
