The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 202: The Changing Ruins (Part 6)
Rem gritted his teeth, soul energy surged in the air and covered him – it threatened to teleport him away, pushing him away from the goal that he had just managed to attain but Rem remained resilient, the first time it had happened, he had been caught off-guard but now he was able to fight back with a skill that he had gotten from Yokama.
His soul energy pulsated outward, repelling the soul energy that was being forced upon him with relative ease.
’I just need to maintain this until the soul energy dies down and loses power,’ Rem thought, while this was going on – he couldn’t sense anything other than the immense density of the soul energy in the air.
Rem soon felt another soul energy signature pop up not too far away from him, it was a mere flicker of it since the density was strong but Rem picked up on it and with his enhanced sight, he found Amelia rushing forward with a burst of speed – soul energy surrounded her feet, further increasing her speed.
Rem gritted his teeth as the force on him increased, the Monster that controlled the Changing Ruins wanted him as far away from the center as possible which was why he could feel more force being exerted on breaking through the casing of soul energy. He looked at Amelia, they were a good distance away and although the soul energy in this area was so dense that it almost seemed like fog – Rem could see her shadow and that was what he needed.
His eyes glowed as magical energy surged within them, then he vanished without a trace – soul energy and all, Rem just seemingly disappeared and the dense soul energy that had been fighting to teleport him away dispelled.
’The Monster probably has control over the soul energy in the air for a limited period of time,’ Rem observed from within Amelia’s shadow, ’But the question is, how does a monster have such large amounts of soul energy, enough to cover the ruins,’
Amelia ran silently until she reached a cave entrance, Rem decided to escape from Amelia’s shadow because of the unnerving feeling he got each moment Amelia came closer to the cave. The Cavalier didn’t notice it and soon arrived at the cave entrance, being covered by a round circle of magic...
Rem observed it from the distance, making sure to conceal his magical presence. He didn’t want them to find out about him yet.
’Light magic, huh?’ Rem thought, darkness and light fought against each other eternally – light was known to be powerful enough to dispel the darkness and although Rem could agree that it was more powerful but Darkness could also dominate the light, yet he wasn’t willing to take such a risk yet... He needed to wait for a good opportunity.

Cecilia felt a little bit conflicted upon hearing that their back-up was swirling somewhere in the Ruins, either being chased by monsters. Even if he was strong, without the right resources, even an experienced A-rank could fall to dozen of monsters and Cecilia knew that.
"We might need to find him," Cecilia spoke up but the idea was immediately objected by the others.
"if we spend time that we could be using to prepare for that monster to fight him, there will be a lot of problems," Cyrus suggested and Cecilia knew he was right but she couldn’t bring herself to agree with him – leaving someone without the tag to keep moving around the Ruins in hopes of finding the center didn’t seem right to her, especially if it was someone entrusted to them by the Mayor.
"I know but it’s not right," Cecilia said, "The Mayor entrusted us with him, we can’t just disapp-"
"Then tell the mayor he died when we return," Cyrus spoke up, there was a coldness to them – despite having the appearance of a child, there were sometimes where he was anything but childish, "We don’t even have our own tags,"
Amelia quickly rummaged through her pouch, grabbing ahold of several tags that were marked with the runes... her eyes showed a lot of concern for Rem, despite having only met him some time ago. Cecilia could understand her feelings; she was guilty because she was the cause of it.
"Here are all the tags on me," Amelia said, "Let’s go find him,"
One of the Cavaliers from the squad stood up and narrowed his gaze at Amelia.
"The Changing Ruins are wide, he could be anywhere and changing locations every hour," The Cavalier said, "That would be overwhelming and we won’t make any progress whatsoever,"
Cecilia sighed, the words that the Cavalier spoke were all true... it seemed hopeless. She was about to slump her shoulders in defeat but out of the corner of her eye, Cecilia saw Cyrus move from his position.
Light magic glowered around his palm as several tendrils made of light magic shot through the air, heading for the deeper regions of the Cave but the light tendrils were cut in half as soon as they had gotten a little bit of distance in.
Cyrus felt the cool tip of a blade press against his neck as well as a piercing gaze behind him – he couldn’t turn around but he felt like he was being stared down by a Monster more powerful than what was fathomable, his legs shook.
The others were immediately on guard after seeing their most powerful Magus disarmed in a mere amount of seconds – Cecilia stood with her face as pale as ever as she stared at the young man who was far more taller than Cyrus.
Rem’s crimson eyes went all over the party, noticing their shocked expressions and he felt like he had an advantage.
The Burly Cavalier amongst Cecilia’s party inched forward but Rem saw that and pressed the blade against the boy’s neck, his face showing no bits of hesitance.
"Move and I will kill him," Rem said and his eyes finally landed on Cecilia – Cecilia Yokama and her beauty was not an understatement but Rem felt like he had seen her somewhere before...
’Wait is she?’
