The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 190: Morning Training
Dinnertime in the Household was exciting, the children made the dinner vibrant as they ate... chattering with the Bartender, Lucas and his daughter but everyone noticed an empty chair sitting next to the table.
Rem was absent from dinner, he had gone to prepare for something and everyone wondered what it was.
#####
"Wake up," Rem’s voice sounded low and dark, Luke’s eyes widened as he recognized the familiar voice – for a second, he had thought he was back in the Slavehouse.
A Slave was used to sleeping lightly, the Slave trader in charge made sure of that. They couldn’t have slave traders sleeping heavily when their masters needed them and the twins were no exception.
Kiara’s eyes snapped open as well and they both turned to the Cavalier who stood at the side of their bed, clad in his black cloak... his crimson eyes stared them down, as if looking through their very souls and it would be a lie to say that they weren’t scared of what was going to happen next.
"We’re heading out for training," Rem said, Luke looked out the window – the sun hadn’t even come out yet...
"It’s still too early!" He let out defiantly, the bed felt soft against his back and he was against leaving it – the same thing could be said for Kiara, they were sleeping on the same bed after all.
Rem shrugged.
"The earlier the better," He said and with grumbles, Luke got off the bed and Kiara followed up after. The trio went downstairs and left the house.
#####
"So what’s this training about?" Luke asked as they got to a clearing not too far from the house, it was a wide field of trimmed grass.
"To be my Apprentices, you must be very strong," Rem replied, "So every morning you’ll be doing some light physical training and also some combat training as well,"
He wasn’t going to take things fast with them; the Instructors from the mansion had been there if one needed advice and there had been a lot of them to ensure that the Children would learn a lot but the same thing could not be said about Rem... he was the only one capable of teaching these children and he wanted them to focus on specific avenues that would help them boost their strength.
The major things that mattered to a Cavalier was all-round physicality, Professional use of a weapon and soul energy... these were the most important things that a Cavalier had.
’They have a decent amount of soul energy,’ Rem thought, ’We’ll have to focus on drawing it out,’
Soul energy had a lot of applications but it’s major use was enhancing the body, it could be used to enhance the strength of the muscles to increase the strength of the user by several folds and could even be used to reinforce oneself with added protection, with Soul enforcement, regular attacks dealt far less damage and it was even harder for attacks charged with soul energy to break through.
There was also the transformation of soul energy into a skill – this was one of its most powerful applications, turning into a skill that the user would be able to manifest by will. There was a lot of potential for the twins...
"First of all, you’re going to start with Push-ups," Rem said, "Both of you are going to do ten of them and then jump around till you get tired,"
The first one was easily understandable but the second... it made no sense to the both of them but they complied anyway.
"We better get breakfast after this!" Luke exclaimed while pumping his fist into the air and walking forward, he admitted he was a little nervous about this but he also knew that he needed to impress Rem as well. He looked over to Kiara worriedly, he was sure that she hadn’t tried something like this before.
Kiara was visibly trembling but when she looked over to Rem and saw his reassuring smile on his face, she steeled herself. She felt safe, she felt like giving it her all – She felt like impressing him.
’The other aspects of training, I can handle them,’ Kiara thought, ’But soul energy... that’s something that can’t be drawn out by force,’
As the twins started the push-ups, Rem’s thoughts drifted – he had learned to use his soul energy over time a little bit, it was because of his soul energy that his father had managed to win the gambling matches; he had played an important role.
’I heard that a desperate situation might unleash soul energy,’ Rem thought while stroking his chin, despite being immersed within his thoughts – his eyes never left the twins that were doing the push-ups, ’So if I was able to expose them to a desperate situation, they might be able to unleash their soul energy,’
It wasn’t guaranteed, there was a chance that they wouldn’t be able to unlock their soul energy and in that instance, they would be exposed to great danger.
’I guess throwing them in a dungeon to fend for themselves is off the list for now,’ Rem thought and dismissed his thoughts.
The twins had finished their push-ups and Rem immediately gave them the order to jump around until they were tired, this strange exercise was to find out their stamina limit... to be a Cavalier, you needed to have a high amount of stamina.
The battles Cavaliers embarked on every day were dangerous and to navigate through them, a Cavalier needed to develop an insanely high amount of Stamina – Stamina that exceeded human limits especially in the absence of a Healer.
"Mages develop their abilities gotten from releasing the potential gotten from their soul," Rem muttered, "While Cavaliers hone the power and potential of their bodies to break through physical limits – each one is different but they need each other to raid dungeons,"
"With enough training, even a Human can surpass a Beastkin," Rem finished while looking at the two of them, jumping and giggling... there was a chance that they could become stronger than even a Beastkin, they just needed to unleash their latent potentiall
