The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 187: Luke and Kiara
The process of changing ownership of slaves was simple – it was even possible to turn a person’s slave to your own as long as certain conditions were met.
If you wanted to take over a person’s slave, there were two ways to do it; the first way would result in you having to kill the owner of the slave for the original contract to dissolve – Slaves could also use that to their benefit as long as they were able to kill their Masters indirectly... it wouldn’t trigger the slave contract.
The second way was to simply get permission from the original owner of the slave. While this was one of the most easiest methods to use, during times of dispute where people killed each other – the first option was the obvious choice to get the slaves of the weaker one.
Rem watched the Enslavement process take place, the ownership of the slaves being transferred to him – as the runes engraved on the chest of the twins glowed, Rem felt a connection being forged between himself and the two children... A connection of Master and Slave.
#####
The trio stood outside the door, the wind blowing against their faces as they had left the confines of the slave house... Rem looked at their ragged clothes and sighed. They needed to look presentable.
"Sir," The girl spoke for the first time, as Rem’s gaze fell on her, her blue eyes seemed to portray the opposite of the arrogance and confidence that her brother walked around with... she was genuinely afraid, "You said we were entering dungeons,"
"Yes," Rem said, his gaze turning to the small bag he clutched in his palm – he had come prepared.
"Dungeons are dangerous places, sir," She said, fear gripping her heart... she feared to speak longer, she feared to voice her opinion... she wasn’t as strong and courageous as her brother. She was afraid of being punished by her new master.
Her head turned to the ground, her lips quivering – She was afraid but she didn’t know what would happen when she voiced it. The girl suddenly felt something warm on her crimson hair, a warm palm rubbing her hair.
"I’m not going to throw you into a dungeon directly," Rem said, "You’ll get training first and if I think you’re ready, you’ll go,"
His voice sounded reassuring to the girl but the boy took it another way, his blue eyes glaring at Rem.
"Let go of my sister, Pervert," He said and clenched his fist, he refrained from jumping to action – the man in front of them was their future, if he returned them, the boy wasn’t sure anyone would want them anymore and the last thing he wanted to do was rot away in a Slave’s cell.
Rem ignored him, he seriously contemplated throwing the annoying boy into a D-grade dungeon just to see the look on his face.
"What’s your name?" Rem asked the girl, she trembled under his touch but she didn’t refute it – she liked having his warm palm on her head.
"K-K-Kiara," She finally said.
"That’s a cute name," Rem said and her cheeks reddened at the compliment, Kiara could only mumble in compliance. The Cavalier turned to the boy who stood a little bit away from the both of them, his palms clenched and his eyes locked in a fierce glare with Rem’s crimson pair, "What’s yours?"
The Nonchalance in Rem’s voice was unmistakable and the boy heard it loud and clear, he could clearly see that he was being looked down on but there was little he could do in this situation.
"My name’s Luke!" He exclaimed while patting his chest, "Don’t forget it,"
"How would you guys like a new pair of clothes and something to eat," Rem suggested, since the Café was occupied – he could always go to another popular diner... He had chosen these kids because it was easier to relate with them, they were from Onio like he was and he even knew their Dad, a year ago, even he had been won over by a proper room and three square meals a day. The same thing would happen with them and they would grow to like him, because it was a change from their original living conditions.
"You must be trying to poison us," Luke said, their former masters hadn’t been so kind – they had been put to work immediately, in the dirty and tattered rags that they wore... it was a reminder, that they were slaves and now there was someone willing to sacrifice his own money for their wellbeing? It all sounded like a convenient scam to the ears of the young boy.
’Is this what it was like convincing me to come to Orion? I guess Karma really is a bitch,’ Rem felt like grinding his teeth against each other...
"What reason would I have to poison you?" Rem shot back, "It would be a waste of my money if you died,"
Luke couldn’t refute Rem’s words; he was the one that had bought them after all. It would be a loss if he were to kill them afterwards.
Rem turned back to Kiara, she was the calmer of the two and her voice was not annoying in the slightest.
"Do you want a change of clothes and something to eat, Kiara?" Rem asked.
"Mhm,"
That single hum had won and Rem set down the bag, bringing out the contents. There were an assortment of clothes.
"Well I didn’t know the exact size so don’t mind if the clothes are a bit bigger," Rem said with a nervous chuckle – their bodies were scrawny, it was clear that they weren’t eating that well and a scrawny body meant it wasn’t prepared for training... He would have to fatten them up with food and stick to light exercises for now before moving to the bigger picture.
Kiara went through the clothes and brought out a crimson dress.
"That’ll fit you perfectly," Rem commented as he saw her intense gaze on the cloth, He looked over to Luke and his mouth nearly dropped, "Idiot, that’s not how to wear a shirt,"
Rem walked over to the boy who was trying to put his head in one of the armholes, the situation felt insanely stupid yet at the same time it was really funny. Even Kiara couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
’Maybe this won’t be so bad after all,’ Rem thought.
