Chapter 184: Ember Town

[A Year Later]

The bar in Ember town was lively with activity, Dungeon Raiders, gamblers – everyone was having a good time... they made merry with alcohol and had plates of food; it was a good day after all.

That was until the door opened, the liveliness died down under the crimson gaze of the newcomer – he wore black overalls and a cloak that covered his hair. They all knew who he was...

The young man walked to the counter and pressed a silver coin down on the counter.

"I’d like some tea," He said, his voice bold and daunting despite the order that he had just placed, "And put some sugar in it,"

His order sounded insane, the air was thick with the smell of alcohol and yet he had ordered Tea? The other people didn’t dare to laugh; they knew who he was after all.

This man was known as the Solo Raider, a Dungeon raider known for his ability to clear B-grade and C-grade dungeons himself. Nobody had ever seen him fight but they didn’t want to be on the receiving end of it,

This place was called Ember town and although it wasn’t as big as a town like Orion, there were still dungeon gates opening up within the town and outside the town.

"You know you don’t need to scare them, Rem," The bartender suggested while handing Rem a cup of steaming hot tea, the cubes of sugar melting into the brown liquid.

Rem’s lips thinned into a line, his crimson eyes losing their stern glow as he took up the cup, raising it to his lips.

"It’s not my fault that humans are afraid of what they don’t understand," Rem said while drinking down the tea. There was truth to his words... the other Raiders distanced themselves from him because they didn’t understand his strength, they couldn’t comprehend the feats he had accomplished. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

’At least I don’t have to worry about keeping my power under wraps over here,’ Rem thought, this was all made possible because he had become an official Raider.

He had originally thought that going to the Institution of Magic or the Cavalier Academy was the only way people could become official Raiders but upon reaching Ember city, he learned otherwise – graduating from such institutions only meant that they would be treated with more prestige than normal Raiders. It still didn’t shake his choice to attend the Institution of Magic, he needed to be recognized as an official Monarch and graduating with top grades at the Institution would help him reach that goal.

Rem dropped the cup, the bartender was the only one he knew on a mutual level in this town. He had been too nice to Rem on his first day here and had even given him a bonus lunch on his birthday – Rem had to admit, this man was too kind for his own good.

"Thanks for the tea," Rem said and extended his palm, ready to collect his change. The bartender gave Rem his change and the young man immediately turned around, preparing to head back to the door.

He had grown far taller than before and was now almost as tall as an average man, someone stood in his way unexpectedly.

It was a Beastkin with silver hair and crimson eyes, his cheeks were a bit red which showed that he was under the influence, or drunk as the older men called it.

"You think you’re hot stuff, huh?" He asked while raising his fists up, preparing for a fight, "My girlfriend can’t stop talking about you – I’ll put you in your place and show her once and for all that you’re a fraud,"

Ever since the rumors had spread that he single-handedly clears C-grade as well as D-grade dungeons himself, there had been some people that refused to believe such an individual existed and there had been some people who thought it was a lie – the rest of them believed but everyone was wary of him, well except some females, who didn’t want a strong man in their life?

"Hey, no fighting in my bar!" The Bartender shouted out but the Beastkin ignored him, Blue soul energy wrapped around his fists as he moved forward. He closed the distance between Rem and threw a punch forward but Rem parried it, slapping his eyes to the side.

"He’s a Monster!"

"What in the hell?!"

Rem effortlessly parried a strike full of soul energy without using any soul energy. He didn’t even show any strain or signs of pushing himself, everything about that parry was just effortless.

The Beastkin didn’t relent and brought his foot forward for a kick aimed at Rem’s stomach, soul energy channeled into his feet and making his attack faster but like the first one, his kick was parried once again.

Rem didn’t even view this guy like a challenge; he wasn’t even worth the effort.

"Stop bitching around and fight!" He exclaimed, trying to draw Rem to attack.

"Okay," Rem said and threw his fist forward, without any soul energy – the moment his fist collided with the Beastkin’s face, everyone could feel the burst of wind that shot around the Café, the tables rattled and some cups even fell off the table.

Rem used his free hand to grab onto the Beastkin before he was sent flying, a single punch had knocked him out. Rem sighed seeing that he had knocked a few teeth loose from the Beastkin’s mouth, he let go of the unconscious body and the beastkin slumped on the ground.

"Should I take him out?" Rem asked the Bartender and the man flashed a smile at Rem before nodding. Rem dragged the Beastkin out of the Café by the leg and threw him at the side, he had much more important matters to attend to.

The Café’s liveliness returned after Rem had left, although murmurs were still going up in the air – one thing that was sure was that nobody wanted to mess with the Bartender of the café since he knew Rem, he would be able to send Rem to beat them up at any time.
