The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 181: The Land Hidden Within The Cave
Yokama gritted his teeth, his weapon lay at the side, forgotten amidst the terror. The Captain gripped his eye that was bleeding profusely, trying to comprehend what had happened but the more he thought about it, the less he made sense.
Rem loomed over the man, a grin plastered on his face as his right palm burned with crimson flames – he wanted to finish the job, he wanted to get revenge but Yokama showed that he wouldn’t go down easily.
"Phantom Zone!" He shouted out, his bold voice echoing as soul energy was expelled outward from his body – surging with potency. Rem could see that the soul energy being expelled outwards resembled blades and they all came toward him, in forms of tendrils.
’There’s more to this skill than what meets the eye,’ Rem thought as he leapt away, the tendrils snaked in the air before continuing to move toward him, ’My soul energy is useless against this skill but a fireball will suffice,’
Rem brought his hand forward and the flames surged around it, intense heat washed over the spectators as they found sweat trickling down their faces. The flames surrounding Rem converged into a ball of raging flames that shot forward at unfathomable speed.
’What is this heat?’ Yokama thought as the heat intensified – the fireball overpowered his Phantom zone and was heading right for him, he looked up and managed to see a glimpse of the attack before it struck
*Crackle*
It was a simple crackle, followed by a raging storm of never-ending flames. The flames ravaged everything in sight, even the ground and the Apprentices as well as the Attacking force bore witness to Yokama being burned alive.
All that was left from the onslaught of flames was thick black smoke, filling the air. Rem clenched his palm and stared at the smoke, a small smile spreading at his lips.
"I’m honestly surprised you survived that," Rem said and the billowing smoke cleared revealing the Beastkin who had a reinforcement of soul energy around him, that of course didn’t stop the full power of the flames – several parts of the Beastkin’s body were charred and burned to the point that they were disfigured, the damage was great and Rem had not even shown the full extent of his power yet.
"You are?" Yokama asked with a cough, a wisp of black smoke escaping his lips, "It wouldn’t be in your favor if I were to die by that fireball, you wouldn’t get the chance to torture me,"
"How did it feel when you were torturing my Dad?"
"You remember as clearly as I did that day!"
"You gouged his eyeballs out and crushed them under your feet!"
"You broke his bones and killed him, all for 5 gold coins!"
Rem’s words hung in the air, resounding to the people watching him... they couldn’t believe what they were hearing but Rem’s body movement said it all, he trembled – it was no act, it was the truth.
"You are going to get a similar amount of torture, I promise," Rem said as Yokama suddenly felt his movement being restricted – his shadow was joined to Rem’s and the Apprentice raised a finger up.
Yokama’s only eyeball exploded into a bloody mess as his arms and legs twisted and contorted to dangerous angles, angles that even a Beastkin’s body could not endure. Rem’s grin only widened as he lifted finger upon finger up, each time he lifted a finger – more pain befell the Beastkin, his body twisting cruelly under Rem’s control.
Grunts!
Wails!
Screams!
Yokama experienced it all, his bones twisted and shattered. The pain ensued to the point that he begged for death but Rem didn’t grant him such an escape... each passing moment was like an hour for Yokama, the pain only intensified and he felt despair until it stopped.
Everything, the pain and the feeling of being torn apart from the inside stopped...
’Am I dead?’ He wondered – he regretted his decision of ever going to the Casino that day, he hadn’t expected the son of a fraud to be this strong... He wondered how they would make it out of the dungeon, his comrades, the apprentices, everything that had been handed to him by the Mayor.
He wondered about his Daughter, he wondered how she was doing – how the mission that she had embarked on was going... He longed to see her again.
And then it returned, his face or whatever remained of it was punched. The pain coursed through his entire being as another fist came down, blood splattered across the ground as Rem continued punching, not missing a beat.
With each punch, memories of his father flashed through his head and the despair and fury that he had felt when Greg had passed away fueled his movements... His punches became more dedicated, they were faster, and soul energy coursed around his fists.
The punches ensued, they didn’t stop – the ground had begun to crack below Rem but he didn’t stop, more blood painted his knuckles and even his face but he didn’t stop... This was nothing like killing a monster, it was different. The grunts from the Beastkin eventually died down but Rem didn’t stop as he kept punching the lifeless grotesque face of the man.
’I lost everything,’ Rem thought as he brought his fist down, another round of blood splattered on his face.
’Dad,’
*Bam*
’Mom,’
*Bam*
’Our house,’
*Bam*
’I was forced to live in the streets...’
*Bam*
’All because of you,’
*Bam*
"How does it feel now, huh?!!!" Rem finally shouted out, the ferocity in his voice unmistakable.
His punches stopped as his arms slumped, his eyes and face gradually lost emotion – they became lifeless and the crimson murderous glow emanating from his eyes died down as well.
’What do I do now?’ Rem pondered while biting his lip, he had let his rage get the better of him... now that he wasn’t angry, he could see things better – and his situation didn’t look good.
"Murderer!!"
