The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 174: Zarchary’s End (Part 4)
The tendrils made out of shadow made their way to Zarchary who was coated in purple aura – his forbidden technique was only applicable as an escape tactic, it didn’t give him speed or grant him an immense amount of strength neither did it grant him an endless pool of magical energy which in turn would destroy his body.
Zarchary’s technique consisted in burning through his magical reserves in a forbidden manner, in this way, he was able to amplify his speed to the brink of what was possible in his demonic body – but even with that, Rem was keeping up with him effortlessly.
The shadow tendrils contorted and shot at him, Zarchary was forced to pull his escape to a halt to avoid them. He leaped through the air and dodged them.
"You’re far much stronger than before," Zarchary said as he faced Rem, the tendrils slamming into the ground and kicking up dust, "You’ve reawakened, haven’t you?"
Rem was silent, the surrounding area turning eerie by the moment – Zarchary’s question hung in the air. The Demon felt chills run down his spine as more time passed, the dust cleared to reveal that Rem had vanished, something that alarmed him.
"How do you know about that?" Rem asked, his chilling voice coming from behind Zarchary – the demon clutched his stomach, a slash protruding across it.
Zarchary was silent, his regeneration quickly caught up as the wound began healing.
"I asked you a question," Rem said while turning to him, his crimson eyes gleaming with murderous intent – in the span of seconds, he had slashed Zarchary multiple times with his Soul sickle, the cuts were deep and there were so many, the demon’s regeneration wasn’t able to keep up with all of them.
Zarchary staggered backward, the aura coating him had vanished – his magical reserves had been burned through and his eyes were bloodshot, he was left completely defenseless against Rem.
"I guess I’ll find that out from your comrades," Rem said and released a burst of holy flames – engulfing and burning down the demon effectively. The battle had drawn to a close and all of the demons had died by his hand...
Rem absorbed the soul and he felt the distinct differences, this soul was old – it had been on the Earth for a long time yet it still had so much vitality left within it.
’A demon’s full lifespan certainly is long,’ Rem thought with an apparent sigh as he assimilated the soul – his strength increased substantially but not as much as he wanted... with his reawakening, it became harder to overwhelm his soul.
Rem retracted his soul sickle, his crimson eyes looking at the crisp remains of the demon below him. Zarchary had always been a thorn that he had struggled to match up to, ever since he had seen the Demon portray his skills after his fight with Aegi but now he had defeated Zarchary so easily, he didn’t even need to use the full extent of his power.
’I’m so overpowered,’ Rem thought while looking at his palms.

Upon returning to camp, Rem met two members of the attacking force – they were tasked with bringing the surviving Apprentices to the main camp where Captain Yokama awaited. They were going to find a way to the Boss room after all and everyone needed to be together.
’It’s about time,’ Rem thought with a frown – his mind drifted to Yokama, he was sure he had seen that face from somewhere but he couldn’t properly place it, it had been a long time after all.
"A change of clothes?" The Apprentices were surprised to see that the two Cavaliers had brought a set of clean clothes for each and every one of them, almost like they had expected something like this to happen.
Rem had taken his pair with him to a stream not too far away, cleaning the blood that masked his body with the help of the water before drying himself with the help of a little wind and putting his clothes on.
He went back to the Camp and looked at the others, they had pulled on their clothes as well – even Megan who was not an Apprentice was not an exception, her eyes drifted to Rem but she shuddered as soon as his crimson gaze met her’s. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"We shall be returning to the main Camp, Captain Yokama and the others await our arrival," One of the Cavaliers announced.
The Cavaliers had asked about the monster that the Apprentices were fighting but everyone had told them it was just a regular monster.

The Main Camp was situated not too far away from their former camp, it took them two whole days of walking to arrive there – especially since they had to deal with monsters along the way.
Upon reaching the camp, they found the Vice Captain who had been separated from them standing at the entrance, as if awaiting them. There was a cluster of tents, most of them were empty and they would serve as the living quarters for the Apprentices until the Boss was found – the party had suffered a lot of casualties during this raid and some of the members from the defensive force as well as the attacking force were killed.
"You’ve been traveling, feel free to rest in a tent," The Vice Captain said and shrugged, "We have a surplus of them anyway,"
With that she left and the Apprentices each picked their tent, the chance to rest during when they had been shown the harshness of the dungeon was limited – they were the people that had to be responsible for their own safety but they were finally with the main force again, the protective air surrounding the camp was more than enough to make the Apprentices feel at ease again, prompting the majority of them to rest in the confines of the tents.
Rem sat in his own tent, going through his rewards after killing the Demon known as Zarchary, not only that, he studied on each and every title he had trying to find a way to exploit them to their maximum.
The entrance of his tent rustled a bit.
"Can I come in?" Mika asked.
Rem dismissed the screens.
"Yes, Come in," Rem said.
The entrance to his tent was opened and Mika stepped inside.
"How did you... survive?" Mika asked as she sat down, the ground was covered with a huge carpet which made it more comfortable to sleep.
"What do you mean?" Rem asked, showing a confused expression – what was she talking about?
