Chapter 170: Reawakening (Part 2)

Yet the nostalgia from the title and the other notifications that clouded his view completely vanished as Rem faced his next problem – the small mountain, the place where the connection of caves leading to this point was completely destroyed, it went as he had first expended it and seeing the ceiling collapse.

Rem raised his hand into the air and muttered his command – willing a monster to come forth and protect him.

"Rise!"

The ground beneath him echoed in an ethereal crimson as the figure of the Spidergob, its metallic tendrils shining in a deep crimson – Rem noticed the differences immediately, he had reawakened and his regular green soul energy which he had grown accustomed to had vanished, being replaced by a blazing crimson.

The Spidergob was now rounded in a sturdier crimson armor, each and every one of it’s tendrils glowed in crimson aura... it had underwent an upgrade because it’s master had obtained one as well.

The Monster knew exactly what to do as the rocks from the shattered ceiling kept falling down, threatening to smash against the ground... Rem was underneath the monster’s wide visage, the exo-skeleton and the armor of the monster combined made it extremely sturdy.

*Sizzle*

The sizzling sound of melting filled the air as a wave of acid crashed down on the rocks, the Spider had begun melting the rocks and Rem stood unaffected by the wave of toxins because he was on the back of his summon.

The last wave of rocks from the cave-in had cleared out from the blue room although there was still some debris blocking the ceiling which Rem wanted to leave from, he couldn’t handle traversing past the places he had been to before and clearing the rocks from there as well but if they attempted to destroy any rock lodged in the ceiling, the whole ceiling would come caving down again.

He really regretted being at the bottom of the remains of the small mountain.

’Ah yes, I still have that skill I got from that demon,’ Rem thought as he patted the Spidergob on the head – an appreciation of the thoughtful help administered by the waves of toxins that had cleared the ground floor. After patting it, the monster vanished into thin air.

Rem landed on the ground, the remains of his sandals slowly melting away at his feet due to the residues of acid on the rocky ground that was melting as well but he didn’t take long to trigger the skill he had gotten from the demon that had attempted to place him under an illusion.

His feet floated off the earth as he soared into the air, his body glowering in an ethereal shade of crimson. Rem moved through the air slowly, trying to get used to the existence of being off the ground, despite his newfound power – he fumbled many times before finally getting the hang of it.

Rem reached the ceiling and spread his magic to the rocks, willing them to part... his crimson energy leaked onto the rocks and the air began rumbling, his magic spreading to all of the rocks above him and after a short moment of silence, the rocks began to press against each other – clearing a way large enough for Rem to fly through as he headed to the top.

Rem continued doing this until he started different familiar soul energies standing at the path he wanted to use for his exit, he could sense Krista and Cynthia’s but his psionic energy could pick up the presence of a third person, devoid of soul energy and he instantly knew who it was.

The Apprentice had gotten used to his psychic powers well enough to break down the rocks separating him from the world at the top and turn them into a staircase to ascend easily – Rem’s feet touched the sturdy staircase and he made his way out to the small mountain, the light from the hole blinded him for a little bit, he had been accustomed to working in the darkness of the small mountain...

As he finally stepped out, like he had suspected – the three people he knew stood in front of him, each of them staring at him with a surprised gaze but Rem didn’t pay them any attention, he could sense Zarchary’s familiar aura and as he had once again suspected, Tero with his spells gave him trouble. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Rem?"

’It’s pretty interesting,’ Rem thought, ’I’ll intervene and cause havoc in the fight,’

His title made him tempted to get Zarchary’s soul, who wouldn’t want to absorb a soul that housed so much power? Even Zarchary, after a thousand years hadn’t reached the peak of his soul’s power, this only made the offer in front of Rem exciting.

With a newfound burst of speed, Rem moved toward the camp – the others followed behind him, as he moved, he didn’t forget to stare at the notifications he got.

...

[’Glacian’ soul has been successfully absorbed]

[’Glacian King’ can be summoned]

[You have gained Unique Skill: Lion’s Pride (B-grade), Lion’s Meteor (A-grade), Claws of Retributon (A-grade]

...

After the tense battle, he had only been able to get three skills and after brushing through their explanations a bit, he knew they would be valuable to him, just like the slime was.

He dismissed that tab and looked at the next one.

...

[Congratulations, You have reawakened]

[You have gained +200 points to your stats]

[Host, your potential knows no bounds – you may be truly able to reach the heights of the first Monster Monarch]

...

Rem kept running, this tab was meant to congratulate him from breaking through and becoming the Monster Monarch and he was confused a little bit, he had the potential to rival even that of the first Monster Monarch?

’So there was a monarch before me,’ Rem thought, ’Then why hasn’t there been any sort of documentation of it,’

Once again, The Monster Monarch system had opened a new avenue to be explored – Rem had questions and the world had the answers.
