Chapter 169: Reawakening

Rem continued battling the Glacian, his arm had turned into a sword and he was using it to dish out maximum damage – the Glacian wasn’t a worthless opponent, it’s domineering aura that even Tero could sense from afar was a testament to its power as it met Rem’s attacks with it’s own, packed with more attacking force.

A howl escaped its mouth as sound waves traversed around the entire room, the blue rocks began breaking apart even more – the structure that had already been damage began shaking, threatening to fall upon them. The sound waves even had enough power to stop him dead in his tracks, once again, the monster proved it was far stronger than him... yet the feeling of weakness didn’t make Rem grimace, it only made him more excited.

He was leading an army of monsters, the ability would make him strong undoubtedly but he would be overly reliant on the Monsters within his choices... he could easily use his army to defeat the monster in front of him yet he didn’t want to use it – Why own an army when he would be far weaker than them? He would be too dependent on them...

The wall that stood strong, the barrier preventing Rem from unleashing his true power had several more cracks in it, crimson wafts of soul energy seeping out of the tracks – Rem felt a transformation to his soul, the crimson soul energy triggered a new feeling, he couldn’t describe it yet it was different from when he absorbed a Monster’s soul.

His eyes locked with the Glacian and the green soul energy which had been seeping out of them like flames turned crimson, Rem felt stronger than ever as more cracks stretched across the wall – more and more wisps of soul energy being let out.

He moved toward the Glacian again, his soul rattling with each passing moment – the crimson energy overpowered him, filled his body with power he had never tasted before... the allure of it all made this power seem wholesome and forbidden, the Apprentice felt like he needed one final push before breaking past his limits and that push was the Glacian – he needed the Glacian’s essence, it’s soul.

His Title seemed to make his body more rigorous as they collided once again, trading blows with each other but even the Glacian could notice that he was stronger than his last confrontation – all of Rem’s slashes with his blade cut deep into its azure skin making it roar out in a mix of rage and fury.

Rem was undeterred as the blue blood of the monster splashed on his face, he felt like all of his stats were boosted – like he had become a Beastkin but this time even better and it was all because of the crimson aura that now resided within him. As he continued slashing, his other hand was working as well as several rounds of holy flames rained upon the body of the Glacian, burning at its fur and making the monster even more damaged.

Rem’s gray pupils were gone now leaving behind a threatening blaze of crimson soul energy, more soul energy leaked out of the cracks and he continued to take advantage of it.

He would have used the ultimate technique with the shadows to put this battle under wraps but he was more than sure that Zarchary, the demon he had met earlier and coincidentally the final demon in white would cave in the mountain, or come to kill Rem with his own hands – Rem believed it would lean to the first option because the Apprentices at the camp would at least try to hold him down in some way.

His eyes focused on the monster again as he moved forward, bullets of wind shooting out from his free fist – each bullet was packed with enough magical energy to stun the monster for a few seconds and that was what he needed... The Glacian roared, energy gathering at it’s snout creating an orb of destructive energy and shoot it at the Apprentice, but Rem kept running, retracting his fist that he had turned to a weapon and creating two soul sickles, both of them glowing in a deep shade of crimson as Rem turned into a blur, utilizing a combination of Flash movement and the Body Strengthening skill at it’s maximum efficiency to cut through the Monster’s orb and mount the head of the Monster.

Rem’s eyes glowed as holy flames burned at the head of the Glacian that had once stood tall and mighty, it’s mane burning into wisps as the holy flames surged – Rem didn’t relent, stabbing again and again into the Monster’s head, blue blood staining his clothes but it was all worth it when the Glacian had fallen over, slamming onto the ground with a tremendous thud.

As soon as the monster died, a single tab appeared in front of him, asking him if he would absorb the Glacian’s soul. Rem wasted no time, he tapped Yes and witnessed the green orb shoot out of the Glacian’s body and collide with his chest – this was unlike any other soul he had absorbed so far... 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

It entered his body, it’s green figure blending in instantly but as soon as it got close, the red wisps of soul energy stretched out to it, absorbing it within seconds.

Rem felt his body change, the wall that had been preventing his full power from being awakened – the cracks got thicker and thicker until the wall couldn’t handle it anymore and shattered, the full power of the red wisps emerging.

His soul throbbed, the pressure was unlike anything he had felt before – the red soul energy rampaging all over his soul and even his magical energy, the holy flames began to disperse and the same happened with his Soul sickles. Slowly but surely, Rem grew more comfortable with the foreign energy.

His hair rose into the air and so did the rocks in the room, even the Monster’s body below him had begun shredding, he looked at the panel that had appeared in front of him and smiled... a warm smile.

[Congratulations, You have gained the title: Monster Monarch]
