The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 156: The Glacian’s Territory (Part 7)
"Olivia and Matthew, they both come from another mansion not too far from Amber mansion," Tero said, "But I believe you guys are prohibited from leaving your mansion without proper permission,"
Rem nodded, he was very acquainted with this rule.
"Is it not the same for the other mansions?" Rem asked. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Actually Apprentices are granted freedom to leave the mansion," Tero said, "Even over in my mansion, it’s allowed and we are well known for our strictness, I can’t blame Amber mansion though, if the same thing had happened to our mansion – I would have prevented my Apprentices from leaving as well,"
This piqued Rem’s curiosity a lot, he wanted to know what happened and Tero was there to deliver, enlightening him in what happened with a smile on his face.
"Three years ago, Amber mansion had several traitors," Tero said, "They leaked vital information to another competing mansion at the time, all for the sake of a woman,"
"It seemed like with each piece of information they brought, they were rewarded handsomely," Tero said, a bright blush painting his cheeks, "You do know of what kind of reward I’m talking about, right?"
Rem nodded – rewarded handsomely meant that they were paid to divulge information.
"The news of information being leaked was discovered sometime after and the three disciples immediately confessed to everything they did with the young lady from the other mansion," Tero spoke, the heat radiating from the flames keeping his body as warm as possible, "The mansion denied the allegations of the Boys from Amber mansion, they had already cleared any source of connection and the girl denied it, Having no other forms of evidence against her, the boys were placed under intense torture by some experienced Cavaliers,"
Rem was fully aware why they were given such a punishment – surrendering information to your enemy was considered a serious offense, Cavaliers were known for their strong will, which was why their will was honed right from the time they were Apprentices but these apprentices had disgraced those ideals with their immoral conduct, they deserved everything they were getting.
"But the boys kept on saying that they gave the information to the mansion that they had accused initially," Tero said, "Even after three intensive days of torture, they refused to give in but at the end of the third day – something peculiar happened to the Amber mansion, at night, it was invaded and several Apprentices were killed by a being that was rumored to have moved as quickly as the shadows itself,"
’Shadows, huh?’ Rem thought, it sounded awfully familiar – Shadows reminded him of Manuel, ’Well those are thoughts for another time,’
"Many Apprentices fled from the Amber mansion because of that incident, terrified to come back – and in a single night, a Mansion housing over three hundred Apprentices were reduced to a matter of fifty," Tero said, "And the insane amount of instructors were reduced as well, the single attacker had forced the Mansion into a state of peril, it’s frightening to imagine such a strong person still exists out there, within the town,"
"Of course, he was apprehended by the Mayor himself and taken to questioning – shortly after that, the Mansion involved was stripped of their status and quickly dispersed but that couldn’t change the damage that they dealt to Amber Mansion was something that could not be replaced," Tero said, "The Attacker was detained and peace returned, although Amber mansion’s Apprentices lived in constant fear that the Man would come and get them until they graduated,"
With that Tero concluded his tale, his stomach grumbling a bit... Rem looked around, sweat rolling down his face – this was the warmth that he had been looking for.
"You took away our only chances at meat," Rem said, referring to the Rune Hound corpses he had turned into molecules, "I’ll scout ahead and find something for us to eat,"
"I can come along as well to assist you," Tero said, preparing to stand up as well but Rem stopped him in his tracks.
"You’ve done enough," Rem said, "That spell must have really taken a lot out of you so let me do it, besides you’ll slow me down,"
With that, Rem walked away – advancing into another cave... he pulled out his Shortsword and immediately began running in the direction of souls that he sensed... they were Hellhounds and although Rem had no idea why there were different kind of monsters in this cave, but he didn’t care much about it, it provided much more souls for him to absorb after all.
He hopped atop a large boulder, observing two Hellhounds not too far away from him, he held his Shortsword tightly.
"At least one of them will be enough to feed us for tonight," Rem said and tore through the air, leaving a ripple behind him as he moved at blinding speed – utilizing Flash movement, he landed on the back of the Hellhound he planned to kill only for a soundwave to engulf him, shooting him through the air and onto a cave wall.
Rem angled himself mid-air, his feet pressing against the wall as he used his momentum to propel himself through the air. The Hellhounds were focused on him now, their mouths wide open as soundwaves tore through the air, moving toward Rem who was still mid-air, and he activated the Body strengthening skill and made his way through the soundwaves effortlessly.
His gray eyes locked with the first Hellhound and he vanished into the air, tensing his muscles and moving forward with Flash movement. He landed on the snout of the Monster and shot a powerful ball of flame right at its face, scorching the monster’s face beyond recognition. A scream ravaged its throat as it tossed it’s head around in an attempt to get Rem off its snout, Rem leaped off effortlessly and another scream escaped the Hellhound’s mouth, Rem threw several fireballs into the mouth of the Monster, destroying it’s organs from the inside.
He turned his head to the other Hellhound, preparing for battle until a dangerous murderous intent pressed down upon it, forcing it to pull to a halt... Rem moved through the air swiftly, decapitating the monster with ease.
