The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 144: Combat Tips (Part 2)
Both of them stood in a room within the cave formation and Rem threw the Shortsword at Megan – she stumbled a bit and tossed it around before catching it.
Once Megan caught it, her arms trembled a bit, the Shortsword was a deep shade of black and it was sharp, really sharp. She grabbed it by the hilt and turned back to Rem who held a Magic steel sword in hand.
’He probably pulled it out of his Storage ring,’ Megan thought as she stood up, planting her feet into the ground – she wasn’t feeling very confident, this wasn’t her first time holding a sharp blade but it was her first time pointing it at someone.
"The first thing you need to learn while holding a blade is of course slashing," Rem didn’t waste any time and went straight to teaching her about attacks, "Try and slash me,"
Megan looked at the Shortsword and then at Rem, her arms trembled a bit but she bit her lips.
"Slash... you?" Megan asked, unsure of what she heard him say.
"If you can’t slash your Opponent then you’re wasting time trying to learn how to fight," Rem replied while dropping his sword with a bit of disappointment, "Let’s just go back to resting in the tent,"
As much as she liked the idea, Megan also didn’t like to see Rem disappointed in her. She gritted her teeth and raced forward, it took her a minute to close the distance between them but once she did, she brought the sword down in a slash albeit hesitantly.
Rem raised his sword and blocked it effortlessly.
"You call that a slash?" Rem asked while pushing her back, making her trip and fall.
Megan gritted her teeth and dropped the blade, her palms were still ringing upon the collision both weapons had and she was on the verge of giving up.
"Ten slashes..."
Rem stated and she looked up to meet his gray eyes, they didn’t hold the disappointment she expected, she saw a hint of playfulness in them.
"If you perform ten slashes, I’ll gladly stroke your hair for an hou-" Rem quickly raised his sword, defending another slash from Megan. It was much better than the last...
Megan raised her Shortsword again, angling another slash at Rem who raised his sword and defended it effortlessly.
"Try to put more in it," Rem advised, Megan brought the blade to her side and slashed it at Rem who defended it again, a bit surprised about the amount of progress she had made.
After throwing six more slashes and watching Rem block them with a satisfied smile on his face, Megan fell on her ass and looked at the ground – her arms were numb... but she had completed the bet.
"Here," Rem said and she looked up at him, gladly accepting a bottle of water from him.
"You did great for your first day although we need to work on your form a bit," Rem said, "After that, maybe I’ll pit you up against some monsters,"
Upon hearing that, her body shivered in excitement but her excitement didn’t end there – Rem grabbed her up, one of his strong arms going to her ass and making her blush intensely.
"Where?" She managed to ask.
"To fulfill my promise," Rem replied as he dragged her into the tent.

A week later, Megan moved gracefully with the Shortsword in hand as she threw a stab attack at Rem, one that he raised his sword to defend only to realize it was a feint. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
She was at his side already, aiming to slash his arm but he dodged it with a Side-step.
’It’s surprising how much she has advanced within just a week,’ Rem thought, ’All for the sake of getting her waist massaged,’
Megan had grown more daring, she asked Rem to massage her waist in exchange for a spar and he couldn’t refuse... not when his current goal was increasing her Swordsmanship.
"Try moving with more speed, close the distance between us faster," Rem said as he leaped backward. Teaching a Healer how to fight... Rem wasn’t sure he’d ever see the day where he did such a thing but he couldn’t argue with results.
Megan bent her knees, pressing her feet against the ground before propelling herself toward Rem. An experienced fighter like Rem only needed a few seconds to close the distance but Megan took a whole lot longer than that – she lacked sword techniques.
’Maybe I should teach her something like Flash movement,’ Rem thought with a shrug, he didn’t even know where to start with that one... he had gotten it from a Monster after all.
Megan arrived in front of him and swung her blade, Rem raised his sword and dodged the strike while watching her smirk. She suddenly jumped back, landing on her feet and gave him a confident gaze.
"That’s three minutes of sparring," Megan said and then blushed slightly, "And now you massage my waist for an hour,"
"Why do I feel like I’m being scammed?" Rem asked while stuffing the sword into a sheath he had made personally for it, from Hellhound fur, "But sure, of course I’ll do it,"
Megan couldn’t wait, she liked training with Rem – not only because of the rewards but because of how his usual emotionless demeanor was softened, just a bit.
She felt the air around Rem change immediately as he stared at her intensely.
"Throw the sword at me," Rem gave a quick order and she followed it quickly, throwing the Shortsword at him and watching him vanish shortly after... Megan wondered where he could have gone.

’I’ve been waiting a week for this,’ Rem thought as he recognized the unique soul energy – he finally knew the place where the Fourth demon was hiding. He was sure it was within this area but he couldn’t go searching in every cavern, eventually hoping to find the demon.
Rem landed at a Cave entrance and stepped inside, his eyes on the demon with flowing white clothes – his eyes glowed in an ethereal blue light as a mysterious force pushed Rem out of the cave, sending him flying through the air and crashing through several stone pillars before finally pulling to a halt.
’What was that?’ Rem asked as his slime quickly covered the wounds he had sustained – he was still left in shock and surprise of the energy that had sent him flying.
