Chapter 139: Matthew’s Talent

"Hm? I didn’t get the weapon portal skill," was the first thing Rem realized after absorbing the Weaponsmith, instead he got the Weapon Shift skill – the ability to change any part of his body into a Weapon.

He sighed in disappointment, of course everybody would want a skill that would allow weapon summoning but his luck didn’t seem to get there.

’It was the same for Tobi, I got the skills and forbidden skills of the others but these two,’ Rem thought, ’Perhaps there’s something special about their souls,’

Rem shifted his attention to the clone and Megan, using their shared perception – he was easily able to find their location.

’Hopefully I can sneak up on the next one,’ Rem thought as he leaped into the air.

"Did you sense that?" Tero asked, watching Mika’s changing expression.

"Two powers clashed," Mika replied, "One seems oddly familiar but there’s something different about it,"

Behind them were Olivia and her brother, both looking at their saviors with respectful eyes although they couldn’t hear what they were talking about due to the distance between them.

"Let’s survey the destruction," Tero suggested and turned around, "Of course after we’ve finished these Scorpions,"

The Blood Scorpions screeched from behind them, there were an astounding number of them, their numbers soaring over 50 yet the Apprentices felt anything but fear when looking at them.

Tero’s eyes let off an ethereal glow as he waved his hand at them, several explosions ringing out and engulfing the monsters. As the explosions wore off gradually, Olivia sprinted in holding her palm on her sword’s sheath.

Her heart pounded loudly in her chest as soul energy pumped all over her body, adrenaline surged through her blood and her eyes let off a menacing glow.

"Swords Blitz," She muttered under her breath and pulled out her sword, her body fazing into a blur as all of the Scorpions that had survived the explosion were slashed open.

’We make a pretty good team,’ Tero thought but his eyes went over to Olivia’s brother, his feet were trembling and his eyes wide with a mix of fear and surprise.

’But is he even fit to be an Apprentice? He doesn’t have any combat capability, If anything, he’s suppressing Olivia’s true combat power because she’s worrying about him all the time,’ Tero thought while folding his arms.

He then looked away, something drew him to the battle that had taken place... he didn’t know why but he just felt like he would discover something.

It took quite a bit of time for them to secure the Magical stones into Tero’s storage ring, but after that, they were dashing to the battlefield where Rem and the Weaponsmith demon had their battle – the closer Tero got to the battlefield, the more he got closer to a ghastly power.

They soon arrived at the battlefield and Tero took a deep breath, weapons riddled the ground. Most of the weapons were disfigured and Tero as well as the others couldn’t understand why.

’Swords, Rapiers, Spears – all of them but they can’t be used,’ He thought as he walked around, unsure of what to think.

The makeshift party that was under his command needed weapons, Olivia had a sword but a few more meetings with Blood scorpions would result in the breaking of the Weapon... and after that, Olivia would be useless combat-wise.

It only took a glance to see that she was only a prodigy with the sword, with her hands, she wasn’t so powerful. It was for this major reason that he needed to find replacements for her Weapon.

"I found a good one!" Tero heard the familiar voice of Olivia’s brother, he looked at the boy to find him holding a sword up, it wasn’t like the others that had either broken or melted – it was perfectly fine.

Olivia appeared beside him and with a joyful smile, she took the sword. Tero returned to searching but even with his eyes, he could only see the disfigured blades.

"Another one!" Olivia’s brother shouted out again, Tero’s eyes shook and he immediately jumped, landing on the little pile of bad weapons that Olivia’s brother stood on. This time, he had found a good Spear and Tero took it from him, not bothering to look at the Boy’s face.

He found Mika and threw the spear at her, the Apprentice caught it without fail and continued searching for another weapon.

’I think I see one,’ Tero thought while perching over and pushing away several broken weapons, grabbing the hilt of a sword and pulling it out only to reveal that it had no blade... he grunted in frustration, Olivia’s brother made finding weapons look so easy.

"Leader," Olivia’s brother said while holding up another weapon up, "I found another one,"

Tero’s eyes glinted as he took hold of the sword, he looked at the eyes of the boy and immediately found his talent.

’Although he has no talent for battle, those eyes... They will be of use to me,’ Tero thought with a confident grin as he patted the boy’s back.

"Keep up the good work," Tero said, "Let’s look for them together,"

Olivia’s brother gave a big grin and nodded, his eyes gaining even more focus. They soon moved from pile to pile with Olivia’s brother pulling out weapons from each one, Tero’s grin stretched wider with each weapon the boy found until it was stretching from ear to ear.

’So many of them,’ Tero thought while observing the final number of weapons Olivia’s brother had found – A Hundred of them, ’Not only do we have an excess of weapons to use, we can also sell these weapons when we make it out of the dungeon and all of this is possible because of him...’

"Everyone should pick the Weapons they want to use," Tero said, "The Dungeon will only be harsher from here on out and now we have weapons to aid our strength, this is certainly a gift and we could only find these because of Matthew,"

Matthew’s cheeks turned red, he had never been given this much attention before. He turned to Olivia and saw her giving him a proud smile.

He felt happy.
