The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 138: Weaponsmith (Part 4)
Rem’s back collided with the wall at the other side of the large room and he groaned out loud, coughing up a little blood...
"A spear," He muttered while he looked at the wound that had been made on his stomach – it was already healed now but he had much more pressing matters of concern, "The Weaponsmith must have attacked me but how did he?"
Rem witnessed his burning corpse falling from the sky after all, he couldn’t wrap his head around how the Weaponsmith was still alive but Rem quickly drew back his Monsters while preparing to summon the legion of goblins. This demon was far different than any other one he had faced so far, he could literally create a portal and endless weapons would pour out of it, it was an extremely broken ability as far as he was concerned.
’Some demons are extremely overpowered,’ Rem thought while gathering himself, the pain he had felt around his body faded and was replaced with determination.
He saw the weapon coming at him yet again, a Spear just like it had been the first time – it was rippling through the air at an intense speed, gathering as much momentum as possible before impact. A portal appeared beside him and a single tendril of the Spidergob blocked the spear from reaching him.
"Weapon Shift!" Rem heard a familiar voice and his instincts blared in his head, he bent over to his knees just as the Weaponsmith kicked the place where his face had been – Rem pushed away with Flash movement and planted his feet on the ground, observing the Demon from the little distance he had created between them.
"How are you still alive?" Rem asked while looking at the demon, he didn’t seem to be harmed – even after being attacked by not only holy flames but the signature attack from the Death Wolf Boss.
"The weapons show the path," The Weaponsmith replied, "They guide me, they protect me and they smite my opponents,"
Rem blinked, that wasn’t an answer.
’Whatever,’ Rem thought while firing several beams of holy flames – the Weaponsmith knew the danger behind these flames and dodged them with pinpoint accuracy.
’I’ve already used a great amount of my lifeforce triggering that technique,’ He thought, ’I can’t be forced to use it again,’
Rem charged forward, holding his Shortsword tightly as several portals opened around him... the tendrils from the Spidergob snaked out of them, their metallic figures dancing in the air as the Weaponsmith prepared to open a portal in front of himself.
Rem’s figure blurred, amplified by both Body Strengthening and Flash movement as he disappeared into thin-air.
’Where did he go?’ The Demon thought while taking a step back, Rem appeared in front of him while stabbing his Shortsword toward the Demon’s chest but his stab was immediately blocked by the Weaponsmith, his right hand had turned into a sword.
’So not only can he fully turn his body into a weapon of his choosing, he can only do it partially,’ Rem thought while unleashing Holy flames upon his weapon, the Weaponsmith’s eyes flashed as his transformed hand was immediately engulfed in Holy flames.
Rem kicked his stomach as the flames ravaged the Demon’s hand and the kick was laced with enough soul energy to send the demon skidding backward, the Weaponsmith bit his lips before deciding to make the ultimate decision – he cut the burning hand off by the shoulder.
’These flames are dangerous and he can create them in a single instant,’ The Demon thought, ’I should try and avoid close combat with him as much as possible,’
But how was he going to avoid Close combat with someone that was already coming at him again with the intentions of killing him? Rem ran across the battlefield, aiming to come close to the Weaponsmith that had already began making distance between them.
The tendrils twisted around him and one shot forward, creating a ripple in the air and it arrived behind the Weaponsmith, slamming into it’s back and sending the Demon right into Rem’s waiting fist.
Rem swung his fist, connecting with the Demon’s face and engulfing the Weaponsmith in holy flames – he felt it this time, the Weaponsmith was dead... only for the damage caused to the Demon to reverse, the flames surrounding him vanished and his eyes snapped open fearfully.
"A forbidden technique," Rem quickly arrived at it, all the demons seemed to be using one forbidden technique or another. The ability to come back from the dead was the most complicated one yet.
The Weaponsmith leaped backward, creating space between himself and Rem while opening several portals behind himself.
’I need to get out of here,’ He thought, immediately regretting the fact that he had attacked the Monster Monarch, ’If I get hit again, I won’t be able to resurrect again,’
His technique worked in a peculiar way, drawing upon his lifespan to bring himself back to life when he was killed – converting his lifespan to resurrect himself, he had done so twice consuming a great amount of his lifespan, and he wouldn’t be able to use it again if he was killed.
The portals began shooting out weapons and the Weaponsmith got to running, moving as fast as his legs could take him, as far as he could go. The weapons rained down on Rem who used the tendrils to defend himself while staring at the running demon with the corner of his eyes.
Rem cocked his arm back, letting the holy flames rage around it before shooting forward a beam of holy flames – it shot through the air, melting each and every weapon that stood in it’s way before washing over the Weaponsmith who blinked.
’It’s over?’ He muttered as the flames ravaged his body, burning him from inside out... he could barely react as his life was snuffed out permanently although he saw something before he died, the smiling face of his younger brother.
Rem sighed as the portals of weapons vanished one by one, he felt exhausted after expending so much energy but he still had to make sure the Weaponsmith was permanently... dead.
