The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 131: A Demonic Medium (Part 1)
Of course his opponent lifted an eyebrow at his words.
’All-out? He was using every trick under his sleeve during his earlier battle with Aegi,’ She thought, ’Unless... he has gotten some new techniques,’
Rem’s confident aura was enough for her to put her guard up, he hadn’t even exhibited this much confidence when he was facing Aegi but he was doing so right now and it felt extremely unnerving.
Rem stared at her and immediately assumed a combat stance, his fists glowered with soul energy as he assumed his positioning and his eyes radiated his soul energy – he was completely prepared for the fight ahead.
’Or maybe he’s bluffing,’ She realized, ’And this is just a ruse to confuse me,’
Rem moved forward, prompting the demon to focus on him. Her crimson eyes locked onto his figure as terrifying ripples went through the ground, each of them ripping at the rocky surface and searing deep into it – she pointed a finger at Rem as soon as he was moments away from closing the distance and instantly a terrifying amount of wind converged into an orb, sucking small rocks, pebbles and other items into it as it grew larger.
Rem’s eyes never changed – they were still brimming with confidence, even with the presence of the orb, his confidence was unparalleled. The demon soon felt a disturbance, she felt the aura around Rem change, as if sparking in a brilliant azure.
An azure aura coated Rem’s entire body just as the orb shot forward but Rem was faster, vanishing from sight before appearing behind the Demon, unveiling his Soul sickle – the soul weapon shone in an ethereal green light as it had considerably lengthened due to Rem’s latest conquest of souls.
The Demon’s eyes widened as several cuts stretched across her white garments, she was astounded at the kind of speed that Rem had managed to pull off – he had to transform into a Beastkin before to pull off something similar to this before but now she felt his confidence radiating, almost like he was sure her death was certain.
"I was even needing some wind skills," Rem said causing the feeling of death to loom over her – he was confident in killing her.
In truth, what was going on in Rem’s head was entirely different. Even while utilizing the Rune Hound’s ability, his chances of killing her were still not certified so Rem decided to act confident, imbuing confidence within all of his movements to make her feel sure that he was going to kill her.
And that would elicit two reactions; One, it would force her to run away and gather reinforcements and by the time she did that, he would already be far away from here or Two, it would force her to continue fighting, albeit being very cautious with her moves.
The demon spun around, raising her foot for a kick that Rem quickly dodged, cocking his arms back and gathering magical energy within them while the soul scythe vanished. Rem shot several bullets of wind forward while the demon stared at them blankly.
’Is he underestimating me?’ She thought as the bullets shot toward her, colliding with her shortly after but each of them felt like nothing more than a gust of wind – she was a wind demon after all.
Rem dropped his arms as he observed the demon, her crimson eyes were locked onto each and every one of his movements and Rem suddenly took a deep breath, filling his lungs with air and then proceeded to open his mouth before releasing sound waves at her, they were of a much higher intensity than anything a Hellhound had to offer and the demon’s eyes nearly turned blank upon hearing them.
The intensity of the sound waves only increased by the second causing the ground under her to collapse, web-like cracks spreading across the rocky surface. The Demon let out a desperate scream but her scream was drowned out by the sound waves – pushing her into the air and into the pillar that she had stood on.
The pillar came crashing down upon the demon instantly, dust surrounding the wreckage but Rem didn’t believe she would be done after a weak attack like that – and he was right, the remains of the rock pillar were quickly blown away and the Demon emerged unscathed, her eyes emanating focused rage.
’Is she finally getting serious?’ Rem wondered as he witnessed her body vanish into thin air, she reappeared in front of him with her palm outstretched as she attempted to grab his face but he quickly slapped her strike away countering with another Sound wave.
’Unfortunately for her, I am not in the same situation that I was on that day,’ Rem thought, ’And neither do I plan to be in such a situation ever again – just five of them and their presences far outclassed mine,’
The feeling of weakness... It made his core uneasy, almost as if it was a sin to him.
She barely managed to dodge the Sound waves, a little bit of her garment having been pierced and blown into the distance by the sound wave but as she managed to regain her senses and target Rem again – she was hit with a Convergence.
The black lightning converged all over her skin, razing her and her cloak with a surreal power... Reality distorted as the skill ensued, causing even more pain to the demon that found herself suspended mid-air unable to do anything and when reality finally begun repairing, she was flung into the distance.
’To think Aegi tanked an attack like this several times...’ She thought as she careened through the air but Rem did not plan to give her breathing space. He brought out his Shortsword and poured magical energy into his right fist, causing a blue rune to appear on his right fist.
A billowing blue aura coated Rem as he vanished into thin air, exhibiting speed that far surpassed the Rune Hound. He quickly closed the distance between himself and the unsuspecting demon before bringing his blade down with ease – the battle was already over...
