Chapter 129: Beastkin Prodigy

"Total Submission?" Mika asked, unsure if she heard Tero’s voice correctly.

"Yes, if we intervene now, there’s a little chance of her being grateful," Tero replied.

"Why?" Mika asked, eager to hear more of what Tero was talking about but the Youth just shrugged.

"Human nature I guess," Tero replied, "I wouldn’t blame her though, nobody wants to be saved especially when you believe you have enough power and speed to deal with the problem yourself,"

"If we save her now, it’ll look like we’re limiting her power and we definitely don’t want a Teammate that hates us," Tero said, "Olivia, at first glance, she seems to be a strong silent type of person but she’s even more prideful than me, treating her Sword skills and her insane speed as her selling points – so we’ll wait for reality to dawn upon her before coming in like good Samaritans, do you see the boy she’s struggling to protect?"

Mika looked at the clearing a bit harder and saw the boy nestled against the wall while Olivia kept blitzing around the battlefield.

"That’s our deal-wrapper," Tero finished.

Mika widened her eyes, remembering everything that Tero had said before shifting her gaze to Tero, slowly advancing toward the poisoned boy.

Tero got to the boy and flipped him over, making sure that his face was looking up at the ceiling before pouring the antidote into the boy’s mouth. At once, the boy’s skin returned to it’s healthy color, all signs of him being poisoned rapidly vanishing.

Tero laid him back on the ground and turned to Olivia who lost power in her legs and knelt down, tears streaming down her eyes freely.

"Thank you," Olivia said with a genuine teary smile but Tero shrugged, his kind smile as wide as ever.

"There’s no problem, I’m just looking out for my fellow Apprentice is all," Tero said, "Although I’m curious to know how he got poisoned,"

"We encountered a powerful Monster which bit his hand and poisoned him, After fighting it for a while, I was barely able to deal any damage to the Monster so I decided to take him and run away only to find myself in the midst of other Monsters," Olivia said.

"Oh, then why don’t you come along with us? We were just about to look for some Wolf-like monsters to hunt for dinner and we’ll need your Sword skills," Tero said, "After appropriate rest,"

Olivia shook her head.

"No I’m eternally grateful for what you did, not only did you save me but you also healed my brother," Olivia said.

’This is what he said, huh?’ Mika thought, ’Total Submission,’

Krista heaved Cynthia over her shoulders while wearing a worried look – they had been rather unfortunate to encounter a Monster that was able to poison it’s foes and Poisoning at this time in the dungeon where there weren’t any resources was akin to a death sentence. Despite having Cynthia with her being a disadvantage, the Beastkin didn’t falter.

She immediately began recounting how to deal with poison as she had learned from the countless books she had read in the mansion but it was to no avail, she couldn’t remember – the only way to deal with one within a dungeon was an Antidote.

Krista suddenly heard footsteps – with each step, trepidation grew in her heart. Sensing that a battle was going to happen, she dropped Cynthia down against a large rock.

"Well, what do we have here?" Krista heard a familiar voice and looked over her shoulder to see a member of the defensive force – Martha, a skilled Cavalier was walking toward her. Krista felt the trepidation vanish and a smile played across her lips but Martha withdrew her blade, "If you think I’m here to help you, then you couldn’t be more wrong,"

That revelation made Krista put her guard up.

"I don’t know why Yokama decided to make us promise to keep your lives safe," Martha said, her silver hair glistening, "And I don’t know why I should be forced to protect people that I don’t care about – it’s because of you Apprentices that we’re now separated, unable to do anything other than exploring the dungeon bit by bit searching for your other buddies,"

Krista felt the murderous intent of Martha’s words being directed at her and assumed a combat stance.

Martha unsheathed her rapier and locked eyes with Krista.

"So I’ll kill any Apprentice that I run into myself," Martha said, "And have so much fun while doing it,"

Krista trembled, she felt like she wasn’t looking at a human – more like a psychopath, the crazy grin on Martha’s face only added to her worries.

"That’s not right, we didn’t ask to be here, it was the Mayor," Krista said.

Martha blinked for some seconds.

"Do I look like I care?" Martha asked, "I’m pretty happy we got separated, all of you are now free pickings for the Monsters here,"

Martha then moved forward, her body turning into a blur as she unsheathed her rapier and prepared to slash Krista in one go but a bright light engulfed the makeshift battlefield as Krista defended herself with a soul blade.

Krista pulled back her soul blade manifestation, taking a step back. Her Opponent, Martha kept putting on pressure - making multiple slashes at Krista who danced around the slashes with impeccable footwork.

"Stay in place," Martha cried out and stabbed her Rapier forward with purpose but Krista dodged the stab attack, countering with a slash to Martha’s foot. Despite Krista having an advantage in speed, Martha was able to avoid the strike and send one sailing for Krista’s head. The beastkin leaned back and dodged the strike before leaping backward, creating some distance between herself and her opponent.

"If you keep delaying time, then your Comrade will die," Martha said with a taunting tone.

Krista didn’t speak, her eyes gained focus as she raised two fingers to the level of her face.

"Soul Weaponization," She said, her voice echoing around the room soul energy seeped into the air, each of them taking shape as weapons. Each of them glistening with power.
