The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 124: Monsters In White (Part 3)

Rem found himself unable to move, not because the Murderous intent was that powerful but because there was a shadow attached to his own, preventing him from moving even an inch from his position.

He glimpsed at Aegi’s face and gulped a bit, half of his face was engulfed in twisting shadows – it felt like he was looking at something that wasn’t supposed to exist..

"He used it, huh?" The Hooded man who gave everyone orders earlier widened his eyes, "The forbidden technique..."

This forbidden technique was similar to the Holy Flame Sacrifice, by twisting and contorting the soul energy and magical energy of the body – Aegi was able to achieve total power, of course if it was only by combining both powers, it wouldn’t be considered forbidden in any way. After combining and twisting both powers, the latent power of shadows take over half of his body and while this grants a great power boost, Aegi’s mind will be divided.

The eye from the mysterious part of Aegi’s face locked onto him and the shadow clinging to his own intensified it’s grip, Aegi shot out of the crater toward Rem with tendrils revolving around him – he was ready to kill his opponent.

Suddenly, a bright flash of light engulfed the room and the shadow stuck to Rem had instantly pulled back, Aegi’s eyes widened as Rem turned into a blur, moving as far away from them as possible – he was more faster than ever.

Rem stared at the screen in front of his eyes and bit his lips.

[You have transformed into a Beastkin]

He didn’t want to have to resort to such a transformation, especially because of the history that he had with Beastkin.

’If I didn’t do it, I might have died,’ Rem thought while turning around and glaring at Aegi who was sending multiple shadow tendrils at him, at a glance, Rem could see that they were more powerful and faster than before, but with the unreasonable speed that he had now – they couldn’t keep up with him.

A small glance at his status revealed that with the Beastkin transformation, his base physical stats were multiplied by three-fold!

’Maybe I will use this transformation more often,’ Rem thought as he immediately changed directions, charging straight at Aegi. The tendrils shot toward Rem but with his new speed, he was able to weave through the tendrils effortlessly and close the distance between himself and Aegi in mere seconds.

’He’s faster,’ Aegi thought while attempting to target him with more tendrils only for a splitting headache to stop him in his tracks, he gritted his teeth and cursed at the other half of his body – a deeper darker voice echoed in his mind.

’You’re an idiot,’ The voice resounded in his head, ’Tendrils aren’t working but you still want to continue using them?’ 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Rem closed in on Aegi, granting himself a clear view on what Aegi had become – it wasn’t just his face but the entire left part of his body was covered in black shadows, the shadow tendrils around Rem were immediately sucked into Aegi’s left palm, materializing a Spear of shadows. It was immediately thrusted at Rem.

Rem tilted his head to the right, dodging the attack mid-air and landing on the ground. Aegi’s left hand spun the spear and brought it down on Rem again, threatening to impale him but Rem vanished again, his speed far defying Aegi’s expectations.

The shadows on Aegi’s left side inched closer to the right, consuming Aegi with each passing second. Upon realizing this, Aegi screamed.

"The ritual is only supposed to grant you 50% control over my body!" Aegi shouted out while staggering backward, "Why are you trying to take it over?"

The left side of his face only laughed hysterically in response, and Rem had to take several steps backward – his blurry figure finally coming to a stop, revealing his menacing fangs as well as black wolf ears... He was a true Beastkin.

’What’s with these people and using forbidden techniques to try and fight me?’ Rem thought with a sweatdrop as Aegi kept shouting... He didn’t know what went wrong in the ritual.

"Zarchary, do you know what happened?" One of the Masked people asked the one who had given them advise earlier.

"The technique draws upon magical energy and soul energy in equal folds to trigger it but Aegi didn’t have magical energy when he used it," Zarchary said, "Even if the technique worked, the balancer – the limiter isn’t there anymore, and that gives the shadows more than enough privilege to absorb Aegi’s body and once that happens, there’s nothing we can do to bring him back,"

The shadows from the left side of his body kept roaming around the right side, the part that Aegi still had control over... he screamed but there was nothing he could do but while this was taking place, both seemed to have forgot about Rem who stood there silently.

He gathered the magical energy into his palms, prepared to use the most volatile magic in his arsenal.

’Once I kill him, the others will react immediately,’ Rem thought, ’So I’ll have to gamble,’

He didn’t know what kind of skills he would get upon killing Aegi but he could only hope to have the one he needed right now. Rem moved forward, turning into a blur of speed – Aegi’s left eye locked onto his figure and swung the spear at Rem, Rem bent over to his knees and dodged the strike.

Aegi was wide-open as Rem cocked back his hand, holy flames engulfing his hand instantly much to the surprise of Zarchary and the others, and before anyone could react, Rem shot the holy flames at Aegi with maximum force, engulfing the demon and burning it down to a crisp.

The others watched with bewildered faces but Zarchary moved forward, quick to react as he sent a tendril made of crimson energy at Rem – the tendril was much faster than the speed Rem had been moving at and was upon Rem instantly, but the eyes of the Apprentice glinted as his figure was sucked into the shadows, vanishing from the room just as the tendril slammed into the ground, destroying the Cave formation as well.
