The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 123: Monsters In White (Part 2)
Instead of the crimson blood that they expected to leak from Rem’s body, Rem’s entire body morphed turned into a slime and dropped onto the ground.
"Aegi, behind you!" One of the hooded figures shouted with urgency and the controller of the Shadows turned around, getting hit by a punch. This punch was no regular punch, it was one full of exploding soul energy, the reality around the both of them distorted as black lightning protruded out from Rem’s fist, wrapping around Aegi and sending him skidding backward.
Rem landed on the ground, energized by the Convergence he landed – not only did he feel more energized but his soul energy reserves had also maximized, his body releasing a partial amount of his innate potential.
’The effect is only temporary,’ Rem thought as he gritted his teeth and raised his sword up, defending against a tendril of shadows that shattered his blade in an instant. Rem leaned his head to the right and avoided the tendril, Aegi was already back on his feet and wiping his chin.
"I forgot such an annoying technique existed," Aegi muttered, "No matter, you won’t get that boost if I don’t allow you to hit me again,"
That single tendril of shadow turned into multiple tendrils, each of the weapons of darkness converging on where Rem stood but Rem was already on the move, veins appeared on his forehead and arms as he activated his Flash movement right before the tendrils could hit him.
Rem turned into a blur of movement, propelling past the tendrils and appearing in front of Aegi all in the span of a second – the tendrils smashed against the ground, creating a deep crater but Rem already cocked his arm backward, his eyes flickering with soul energy.
Rem immediately pulled back as several tendrils of crimson energy appeared in front of Aegi, protecting him from the imminent destruction about to be unleashed by Rem.
"Don’t let him grow even stronger," One of the hooded figures said as the crimson tendrils vanished, Rem deactivated the two skills he had activated and felt the weight upon his body being lifted, "He has techniques that make him stronger and faster, don’t let him find an opening,"
Aegi stomped his foot on the ground and moved forward, his figure letting off a chaotic black aura as he closed the distance between himself and Rem. Rem followed his movements this time, his body enhanced by the Convergence he had landed initially. Rem leapt to the right just as more tendrils of shadow emerged from the ground, Aegi smirked and changed trajectory – as Rem had just finished dodging, he would be left wide open.
"I really didn’t think that the Monster Monarch would be this tricky to deal with," One of the Hooded figures said.
"Aegi has already fallen into his trap, should we intervene?" Another one asked earning unanimous shrugs from the other Hooded figures, they rejected the idea immediately.
"Aegi is the youngest one of us here," One with a seemingly bold voice said, "He has great power and potential but in the end, Power is useless if one doesn’t have the wisdom to back it – The Monster Monarch might not have the power to defeat Aegi as of now in pure combat, but he has techniques set in stone for dealing with Aegi,"
His eyes glowed in a black gleam as he witnessed black bolts of lightning shoot across the air, impacting Aegi once again.
"This battle will be a learning experience for Aegi, will he gain the wisdom needed to regulate his power or will he lose to the Monster Monarch? I wonder what will happen," He said – the others could agree that an aura of wisdom coated him, he had been through a thousand battles after all.
’A-another one?’ Aegi muttered while skidding backward once again, a trail of blood dropping from his lips. He was already aware of what a Convergence was, the unity between soul and body brought forth in shape of an attack – upon landing a Convergence, a human ought to feel exhausted in exchange for expanding their reserves but Rem was the opposite, he was even more energetic.
"What’s wrong? Where is that confidence that you’ll kill me? Where did it go?" Rem taunted, it was an obvious taunt and Aegi fell right into it, his eyes released a terrifying black aura while the shadows behind Rem constricted and entangled – Rem felt his bones creak as his body was twisted to an unnatural degree, Aegi smiled cockily and played with Rem’s body some more, twisting it to different shapes before eventually letting it down...
’I killed him,’ Aegi thought.
"If you were so blinded by rage that you failed to see through an obvious dodge, are you sure you even belong on the battlefield?" Rem asked and slammed his foot into Aegi’s cheek, landing yet another Convergence.
This time he didn’t skid back but shot through the air, being engraved into the dungeon wall almost instantly. Rem’s eyes glowed as he moved forward to keep up the pressure.
’My power is now several folds above his,’ Rem thought, ’Although that technique of his might be a problem,’
The body he had been twisting around had been a slime that Rem had replaced in a nick of time, the slimes he had been substituting with lacked intelligence so he didn’t use up his consciousness.
Dust emerged from the crater as Aegi stared forward to see Rem coming right at him, his eyes went to the hooded figures and saw that they were merely watching the battle with no hopes of intervention.
’I would have used that technique again but I have already exhausted my magical energy,’ Aegi thought while his heart began beating faster in trepidation – he had run out of magical energy, and his Opponent was coming to kill him, the people he had accompanied wouldn’t lift a finger to save him. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
The hooded man raised an eyebrow with a strange glint in his eyes as an explosion of shadows ravaged the crater where Aegi had been lodged in, a chill ran down Rem’s spine as he locked eyes with Aegi... his face engulfed by shapeless shadows.
’Hell no,’ Rem thought as he stopped running, several tendrils spiraled out of the Cavalier as an intense murderous intent washed over Rem... he couldn’t feel his body.
