The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 115: Dungeon’s Horror (Part 1)
Reality distorted for Rem as he soared through the B-grade dungeon gate, finding himself at the other side. This dungeon felt different from the others that he had visited, he could feel the terrifying aura in the air – an aura born upon the collision and assimilation of several Dungeons into a single entity... Rem felt his palm tighten around his sword, his instincts flaring by the second.
Someone from the Main attacking force turned to the Apprentices which were in four different groups and quickly addressed them.
"We are deploying 5 members of the Attacking force to protect all of you," The Tall Cavalier said, "Your job is to watch what is happening and also fend off Monsters within your power, If you get careless and leave the sights of your protectors – We are not held responsible for your death,"
"Just your presence in this dungeon means that each and every one of you, even us that are in the Attacking force have a 20% chance of death," He said and their faces froze up, "But if people graded their survival in the dungeons up to percentages then we wouldn’t be able to make any progress, The mayor has said that some of you have potential to become powerful Cavaliers and we’ll test it,"
Then he turned forward and returned to the Attacking force who had gotten into formation already, five of them soon arrived next to the Apprentices and took their positions to protect them without a word. Rem could easily grasp the purpose of their visit to this dungeon – To eliminate weaklings.
There were people that had potential to become the greatest but their situations didn’t lead to them maturing at all and harnessing that potential, the Mayor might sound and look like an easygoing person but he cared more about the unrealized potential of the Apprentices than anything.
Even Rem was yet to reach his peak, even after absorbing so much Monsters – that was if he even had a peak but the others had unrealized potential as well. Skills to harness, heights to reach, enemies to dominate, everyone had a purpose and this expedition, putting them face to face with powerful Monsters to test their strength and resolve. The ones with the weak resolve would get killed off while the strong remained.
And then they began advancing, going into the dungeon – the next weeks or month would decide their lives and Rem didn’t plan on dying, he would be able to absorb a great deal of souls from this.
’But I have to get rid of those Channelers first,’ Rem thought with a small sigh, The Channelers were his enemy – they were the only people that could sense souls and they needed to go before he could start absorbing souls, each Channeler was at least B-rank and it would be hard to kill them indirectly. Rem only hoped that they would face some monsters soon as they would assist him to kill the Channelers quickly and it seemed like his wishes were answered.
The ground began trembling a bit, Monsters rushing at them from all sides – Goblins and Death wolves, Rem quickly clung to his blade and lifted it over his shoulder in an attempt to prepare for battle and the Apprentices did the same. These were weak monsters and clearly within the range of every Apprentice and it seemed that the Attacking force thought the same way.
"Charge at the Monsters and show us your worth!" The Captain cried out, everyone turned his way and saw that he had two wolf-ears – he was a Beastkin like Krista.
Rem moved forward first, his blade glinting in green soul energy as he slashed forward, taking three goblins out with a single strike. The Captain’s eyes shone as he witnessed the display of power, something within his soul stirred, the boy’s looks were familiar in a way.
’Rem,’ The tall Cavalier thought as Rem sliced through more monsters effortlessly, his blade glowing in an ethereal green, ’He’s the person with the most potential out of the bunch and if the Mayor’s words are correct, He lived in the slums and can easily see through a Person’s personality,’
An explosion of blue magical energy vibrated through the air as multiple goblins and death wolves were shot into the air, their corpses littering the air as the Tall Cavalier shifted his gaze to the Silver haired boy sprinting across the battlefield, his figure shrouded by an aura of thin blue energy. He didn’t carry a weapon but he was able to comb through the Monsters like they were nothing, either punching them to their deaths or using his destructive Magic.
’Tero,’ The tall Cavalier thought, ’He has a lot of potential as he has not only physicality but Magical energy as well, I don’t know why the Mayor insisted that Rem is stronger than him,’
Tero had been born a prodigy while Rem had been in the slums; there was a vast difference between two of them – one akin to Heaven and Earth and Tero was well aware of that, he stretched his arm forward and his magical energy exploded right in front of Rem, a blue explosion encasing a Death wolf and blasting it to smithereens, just when he was about to kill it.
’You’re just a commoner who managed to get his hands on power,’ Tero thought while having a staredown with Rem once again, ’You can never really match up to me,’
But Rem’s blade shot through the air, impaling a Monster that was about to attack him, a big Death wolf and then Rem vanished from his sight only to appear atop the Monster he had just killed and drawing out his sword.
"Don’t try to steal my kills, okay?" Rem asked with a taunting voice and then vanished again much to Tero’s annoyance.
The Silver haired boy soon sighed and created five other explosions, killing several Monsters... But Rem and Tero weren’t the only ones with potential.
Several weapons created from soul energy revolved in the air, stabbing into several nearby monsters with ease and the Tall Cavalier turned his gaze to the Beastkin that had personally been recommended by the Mayor.
’Soul Weaponization!’
