The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 105: Julie

"I’m not stupid," Rem muttered as he ran through the Forest of death, irrespective of any monsters he may find along the way, "I knew if they saw me in Reifall, they would deploy most of their Cavaliers and Magus in an attempt to kill me..."

So instead he used a slime and made sure it was only a sighting at most, the slime had already escaped and they probably thought the Masked man was still within the premises but Rem was going for even bigger fish...

’The dungeons that appear here are so strong that Raiders have to move in teams of 7 or 8 to clear them,’ Rem thought while running through the thickets of bushes, his speed was much faster than before and the reason for this is because he was in a hurry – Rem wanted to clear as much dungeons as possible before the Cavaliers came back from Reifall... and up ahead, he sighted it.

A C-grade dungeon!

Rem had already expanded his senses in an attempt to make sure that nobody would be watching his movements, and as he expected, there was nobody watching him. Rem quickly entered the C-grade dungeon, engulfed by the blue light of the dungeon.

Arya landed in Reifall, the board vanishing as abruptly as it had appeared and Julie was surprised – she never did really think that they would arrive so quickly.

"Now it’s to look for the masked man," Arya said, excitement pumping through her veins. They walked around the deserted town for a while, a bunch of dungeon gates popping out of some destroyed buildings and Julie watched in excitement, even if they appeared in Orion, they were rarities especially since it was in a place where there were many life signatures... majority of dungeon gates popped up in places with not too many life signatures and that was why there was a great deal of monsters roaming the world.

The towns known as Orion and Onio just happened to be far away from the chaos, the real chaos happened in cities surrounded by lush mountains and forests, even places riddled with plains had them... gates, nobody knew why or how they appeared – Dungeon gates just appeared.

The energy required to form a gate just materialized and the gate was formed... it was quite an unusual occurrence but not too unusual in a world brimming with monsters.

After talking with the Cavaliers around here, Arya learned that there were multiple sightings of the Masked man around Reifall.

"So he’s playing that game, huh?" Arya muttered making Julie sigh.

’She’s saying it like she’s actually friends with him,’ Julie thought, ’She only mentioned one encounter with the Masked man and during that encounter, she had failed to kill the Masked man and he had escaped undetected... Using that as a basis, what if the Masked man is actually baiting all of us here to keep us away from his real goal?’

Julie shrugged and brushed it off.

’It’s impossible, everyone’s really sure that he’s the real Masked man... because he wears the cloak of a Channeler, no Channelers have been reported missing or having lost their clothing so the possibility of a decoy is low,’

Underneath her small figure, Julie’s mind was always active – always reading, always analyzing and scrutinizing the situation properly before reacting. This was why this girl was so scary... and this was why Arya wanted her as her student.

"You thought of someth-" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

A fireball tore down from the air, raging intensely with heat akin to anything Arya had ever felt before... it slammed onto the ground and roasted some Cavaliers nearby, Arya would have been affected too if she hadn’t put up a shield of Holy flame up in time – saving her from death.

The flames died down and Arya spared a glance at the figure who threw it... she clenched her teeth, the mask seemed all too familiar. The shield of Holy flame quickly turned into several balls of flame which shot through the air and converged on the spot where the Masked man had stood only for the figure to vanish, into thin air like it hadn’t been there in the first place.

The slime had been given specific orders. Just in case the Cavaliers weren’t stupid enough to start checking all over for him and began doubting his presence... Make himself known and vanish again. The slime had targeted and killed the Cavaliers so the others would feel vengeful and intensify their search for it... meanwhile after making a few more appearances at other parts of the town, it would disappear and begin heading back to Rem.

’Although the strike just now... immense amounts of magic were put into it,’ The slime thought, ’It seems like that person harbors an intense amount of rage and disdain for the masked man,’

Arya let out a huff – the attack had completely decimated the house that the Masked man had been standing atop and she had wasted a huge chunk of her magical energy but it was nothing she couldn’t replenish easily.

"Didn’t that appearance seem a bit odd?" Julie asked as she handed a vial to Arya who took it and bit the cover off.

"Odd?" She asked before drinking down the contents of the vial, after she was done, she threw the vial aside and wiped her lips with her wrist, "What’s Odd about it?"

"Well it made another appearance here of all places, and targeted us before vanishing," Julie said, "The Masked man seems to be toying with the forces,"

Veins bulged on Arya’s face as she gritted her teeth.

"Yeah, let’s find him, next time I’ll knock some sense into him," Arya said and they began marching forward.

’If anything I’m now more sure than ever that this Masked man is not the same one,’ Julie thought, ’He would have recognized Teacher Arya at a glance and avoided us – the Holy flame is not something he can handle, if he couldn’t avoid us, he would have simply dispatched a killing blow to Arya since she certainly is the most dangerous one here,’

’I wonder what the real Masked man is doing...?’ Julie thought as she looked over the buildings, in the direction of Orion, ’He seems like a smart person, maybe someone worth the intellectual challenge,’

’Interesting...’
