The Monster Monarch System-Chapter 106: Destruction

Rem exited the C-grade dungeon hastily, several slash marks all across his body but covered in healing steam, the wounds he had incurred during the battle were steadily being healed due to his passive healing ability.

"I wonder..." Rem muttered under his breath, "Has the slime pulled out?"

There was a dreadful feeling as well as a slight headache, his consciousness had been shared with the slime so if he focused enough, he would be able to see what it was doing.

’Hmm, a Channeler huh?’ Rem thought as he peered through the slime’s eyes, he was sure that he had seen that Channeler before – she had eyes filled to the brim with rage when she had looked at the slime, ’It seems the Cavalier was someone important to her... I see it now,’

She had been the one that had attacked him when he had left the dungeon that day.

’She is far much stronger now and through the slime, I can see that her soul has become far more powerful – maybe I should harvest another human soul and gain their ability,’ Rem thought, in the end, he would only choose a gain that benefitted him the most, ’No, I’ll set it aside. If I wanted to do that, I would need to get her alone and cornered but she is not dangerous at all, the true dangerous person is the girl next to her... her eyes...’

Rem’s thoughts drifted as he noticed the chilling coldness within her eyes – she was analyzing the situation more so than Arya was.

’Pull back for now,’ Rem gave the order to the slime telepathically, ’Come and meet me in this forest,’

Rem looked back on the gate that was receding and clenched his fist.

’They should already know a dungeon disappeared from here,’ Rem thought, ’If it’s a D-grade, it can be worth being overlooked but since it’s a C-grade dungeon, they’ll certainly come here,’

Rem sprinted forward again, those eyes... that girl was plotting something.

A drop of sweat ran down the Slime’s face, after hearing the orders, there was only one thing it could do – obey them to the latter. It was hiding in a dark alleyway which made it hard for people, even Cavaliers to find it... after all, his clothes were pitch black as well.

’Dangerous,’ The slime thought while remembering the eyes of the girl, it wanted to do nothing more than escape from the town in an instant but it had to be patient – they could be around somewhere.

"I think I’ve found something," Julie said while standing at the entrance of the alley, Arya turned in her direction.

"And what did you find?" Arya asked, walking over to her.

The Slime gulped, those eyes... they could see it through the darkness, despite his pitch black clothing. The slime immediately bounced upward but Arya was faster, condensing a ball of holy flame and shooting it at the fleeing slime.

It tilted to the right and dodged the strike narrowly, showing that it had gotten some of Rem’s impressive battle instincts. More balls of flame shot toward it, each of them converging on the slime but crimson flames corroded the holy flames, their power on a whole new level and this made sure that the Slime landed on the roof.

’As I thought, my suspicions about this being a fake are clear,’ Julie thought, ’The original had a skill that ensured total escape, which was what he used to escape his first encounter with Teacher Arya but this fake doesn’t have such a ... Where did he go?’

It was like his presence vanished, the masked man couldn’t be seen anymore – he had just vanished into thin air, just like before. With this, she confirmed that the ’fake’ indeed have the skill but there was also another thing, the real Masked man had not been defined as a man who took risks.

’So he was probably there to communicate with the real one, and now he’s planning to leave,’ Julie concluded while turning to Arya, "Teacher, I think it’ll be better if we gained some altitude with the board so we can find his location,"

Arya nodded and created the board below them, soaring into the air.’

’She might not know but I have her wrapped around my fingers...’ Julie thought, ’Just like I have the masked man wrapped around my fingers, nobody can resist my influence – my eyes see it all,’

And she could see it, a black silhouette running from building to building, jumping from roof to roof in an attempt to make as much distance as possible from her but it was impossible.

"Teacher, over there!" She pointed at a house ahead of the Slime’s current location by two and Arya fired a fireball toward it, if Julie calculated it properly, the fireball and the slime would converge at the same point.

Just as the slime was about to leap toward the house, it was destroyed by the fireball causing it to fall into the raging holy flames. Arya grinned at this development and moved her board toward the burning house, once she was there, she would finish the injured masked man once and for all and get revenge... the revenge she so desired.

A fireball shot through the air and collided with her board sending it flying out of control, much to Julie’s expectations.

Arya quickly stabilized the board but the time it took to stabilize it was enough for the slime to slip away – trepidation lingered in the air as the Slime scurried through a narrow alley beside two destroyed buildings.

’It’s safe to say that I’m safe for now,’ It thought, ’but that girl, she’s probably coming here,’

The slime executed a thought process with it’s limited amount of intelligence – the wisest thing to do, the most unexpected thing that would catch her off-guard...

Magical energy surged within it’s veins as it slammed it’s right arm on the ground, nothing happened at first but the ground began rumbling slightly, the air in the surroundings turned intolerable, as if the very oxygen was being sucked out of them.

"Only one solution..." The slime muttered and slowly but surely a crazy grin formed on it’s face beneath the mask, "Destroy,"

A loud explosion of flames rang through Reifall that day.

A simple decision to reach when your mind is backed into a corner – I honestly believe that the slime made a wise decision, there was no way it’s IQ matched that of Julie so it was impossible for it not to reach the conclusion... Anyway, let’s get to 2k collections already!
