The Monster King's Legacy-Chapter 202: Paying a Visit
The entire place was quiet for a moment following Lance's announcement as it was very unexpected that it almost felt like a joke. Seeing as he wasn't taking it back, they all erupted into cheers, except Rika and just a handful who didn't look so overjoyed or celebrated at all.
Regardless, that evening, the elite troops gathered at the city's largest tavern to celebrate. The building was alive with laughter, music, and the clatter of mugs as they filled every available seat. The air smelled of roasted meat, spiced ale, and freshly baked bread.
The celebration lasted deep into the night for most, while for some, they left before things got too rowdy. Regardless, everyone was happy.

Elsewhere, the air in the desolate realm was thick and heavy, like a tangible force pressing against anything that dared to move through it. A barren expanse stretched in every direction, its surface cracked and scorched, with rivers of molten lava snaking through the wasteland. The skies above were a sickly gray, swirling with ash and lightning that crackled ominously.
Amongst the emptiness of life stretching all around, Kaelthara stood at the edge of a jagged cliff, her piercing eyes scanning the horizon. Her towering, majestic dragon form gleamed faintly in the dim light, her scales like deep obsidian. Her very presence radiated an overwhelming aura, bending the unstable energies of the realm around to her will.
"The Titans…" she murmured, her voice low and resonant, carrying over the desolation. "What are you hiding here?"
Her mission was clear, to investigate the unstable connection between this realm and her world and, if possible, sever it, but the realm itself was hostile.
Kaelthara took a step forward, her massive claws sinking into the cracked ground. The earth trembled beneath her weight, as if recoiling from her presence. She could feel the eyes of predators watching her from the shadows, their primal instincts unable to ignore the overwhelming threat she posed.
The silence was shattered by a deafening roar as a monstrous creature leaped from the shadows, a massive, six-legged beast covered in spiked, obsidian armor. Its glowing eyes burned with hunger, and its gaping maw revealed rows of jagged teeth.
Kaelthara didn't flinch under such an unsightly monster. Instead, she exhaled softly, her breath hot enough to distort the air around her, blending in the environment. "Foolish."
The beast lunged at her with terrifying speed, but before it could reach her, Kaelthara's claw slashed through the air, a blur of golden energy trailing in its wake. The strike didn't just wound the creature, it obliterated it entirely. The beast's remains scattered across the wasteland like ash, the force of the blow carving a deep scar into the earth.

From the surrounding terrain, more creatures emerged, hulking predators, their forms warped and grotesque. They howled and roared, emboldened by their numbers it appeared, but Kaelthara remained unfazed.
"Pathetic," she muttered, her eyes narrowing.
Kaelthara opened her jaws, unleashing a torrent of fire that roared like a storm. Even to beasts born from such extreme hot environments, Kaelthara's flames didn't just burn, they consumed, reducing everything in their path to molten slag. The air itself seemed to recoil, the searing heat warping the illusion of rippling reality all around, rivers of lava bubbling and overflowing, cascading down the slopes in fiery torrents.
For hours, the beasts came, drawn to her immense presence like moths to a flame, instead of avoiding the obvious predator, and for hours, Kaelthara dispatched them with ease. When the last of the beasts fell silent, Kaelthara stood amidst the devastation she had wrought. The ground was scorched black, and rivers of lava flowed freely through the scars her battle had left behind. Yet, despite her overwhelming power, the realm yielded no answers.
"Nothing," she murmured, her frustration evident. "I've just wasted time here it seems."
Kaelthara closed her eyes, the glow of her fiery aura dimming slightly. "The answers are not here either."
With nothing left to check, she returned.
She returned to deliver the findings to the dragon council. Around the room sat the dragon elders in their human forms, their appearances varying but all exuding immense power.
Kaelthara also took her seat, her imposing presence distinct over the council's.
"There is no way to sever the connection," she announced, her voice reaching everyone. "The link between the small world and our world remains stable, and its influence grows stronger. The inevitable remains."
The elders exchanged uneasy glances. "If the connection cannot be severed, then we must prepare."
Another elder narrowed her purple eyes. "And what of the mortals? They are unprepared. Should they not be warned?"
Kaelthara's gaze was sharp as she responded. "The mortal leaders already suspect the danger. Lance, the monster King, and human King, Aldric. They will play their roles. But whether they succeed… that remains to be seen."
A heavy silence settled over the chamber. The threat of the Titans was no longer a distant possibility but an inevitable storm no far now.
With all these developments, Kaelthara saw it fitting for her to pay her daughter and student a visit.

A sudden gust of wind was all that was needed for Lance to udnerstand, as his eyes narrowed. A smile tugged at his lips, after all, apart from Aelyndra who was now walking around in her human form, there was only one being capable of such an entrance.
A knock, heavy and deliberate, echoed through the door. Before Lance could answer, Aelyndra's voice called out from the adjoining room. "It's her, isn't it?"
The door creaked open, revealing Kaelthara in her human form, her presence commanding as ever. Her wild, untamed beauty was as striking as the first time Lance had seen her. Her hair flowed like molten coal, and her piercing eyes held both amusement and the weight of wisdom.
"Knocking feels so… mundane," Kaelthara teased as she stepped inside. "But I thought I'd give it a try."
"You could always use the door like everyone else," Lance said dryly, though his tone carried warmth.
Kaelthara smirked. "Where's the fun in that?"
Aelyndra appeared moments later, a wide smile breaking across her face. "Mother," she said, embracing Kaelthara warmly. "You didn't warn us you were coming."
Kaelthara chuckled, returning the embrace. "Would it really be a surprise if I had?"
